The Sunday TV ratings for September 27th are in, here are some of the highlights on a mostly NFL-dominated night:
- On cable, Fear the Walking Dead won the night with a 3.6 rating in the key 18-49 demographic, and also grew in its overall numbers to 4.4 million viewers.
- Back on broadcast, Once Upon a Time’s premiere was down 49 percent from last year, notching a 1.8 rating and 5.87 million viewers at 8 p.m. on ABC.
- The new series Blood & Oil garnered an OK 1.4 rating and 6.3 million viewers for ABC at 9 p.m., which is down 36 percent from Resurrection’s spot in that hour. Quantico improved on those numbers at 10 p.m., though, notching a solid 1.9 rating and 6.9 million viewers, up 46 percent from Revenge’s home there last year.
- The two-hour series finale of CSI on CBS at 8 p.m. got a finale bump of 29 percent, garnering a respectable 1.8 rating and 12 million viewers.
- Of note: though we (mostly) only report on the daily live numbers, remember that many of these series pick up additional viewers and ratings in the Live+3 and +7 ratings, which take into account delayed and mobile viewing. One example is with Fox’s Scream Queens, which debuted to paltry live ratings, but rose 80% in Live+3 numbers, particularly with its young viewing audience (which advertisers love). So, the game is changing, but live viewing numbers still count for a lot.
