The Sunday TV ratings for October 4th are in, here are some of the highlights:
- Actually, we’re going to start off with a mention from last Friday, where Dr. Ken (panned by Chris) debuted to solid numbers for ABC despite that Friday death slot. It kicked off with a 1.4 rating in the key 18-49 demographic, and 6.7 million viewers at 8:30 p.m. We’ll see if they stick around next week, though.
- Also jumping back into the past a bit, those of you who follow the daily ratings might note that NBC predicted Blindspot would light up the ratings by the end of the week (which takes into account delayed viewing numbers) — they were right. Blindspot is by far a runaway hit this season for the peacock network (so far). Its final tally was a 4.2 rating, which is about as big as it gets if you’re not Empire … or football.

On Sunday, Madam Secretary’s premiere on CBS at 8 p.m. notched a 1.5 rating (down half a point from last year’s premiere) and 11.93 million viewers.

- Also at 8 p.m., Once Upon a Time on ABC retained its numbers from last week, with a 1.8 rating and 5.33 million viewers.
- The Good Wife Season 7 premiered on CBS at 9 p.m. to a 1.2 rating (which for it is pretty good, though it was down two tenths from last season’s premiere) and 9.37 million viewers.
- ABC’s Blood & Oil is still hanging on with a 1.2 rating (down two tenths) and 5.19 million viewers in the same timeslot. Both this and The Good Wife were up against the Cowboys versus the Saints game on Sunday Night Football though, which drew a 7.8 rating and 22 million viewers.
- At 9:30 p.m., The Last Man on Earth’s second episode this season seems to have risen slightly (a tenth) to a 1.5 rating and 3.3 million viewers.
- At 10 p.m., Quantico stayed steady for ABC with a healthy 1.9 rating and 6.94 million viewers.
- The season premiere of CSI: Cyber on CBS at 10 p.m. garnered a 1.0 rating (down from a 1.8 in its premiere last year) and 7 million viewers.
- FYI, cable ratings for Sunday night are usually delayed, so check back later or in another ratings report for how Homeland, The Affair, The Leftovers, The Strain, and Fear the Walking Dead finished up.
