What do Comic-Con, WonderCon, Dragoncon and every other nerd-fueled comic convention have in common? Money. A whole heck of a lot of money, and not just from the studios and companies pouring big dollars into the advertisements plastered all over town, but the money handed over to the celebrities and industry professionals lining the convention floor. Sure would be a good place to pull a heist, don't you think?

Such is the setup for Supercon, a new comedy that heads inside the halls of the convention racket where a group of con regulars -- former TV actor (Russell Peters), a voice-over actor (Ryan Kwanten), comic book artist (Maggie Grace), and 80s TV star (Brooks Brasselman)  -- team up to take down the headliner (Clancy Brown) after he has them fired and banned from the convention.

Directed by Zak Knutson (Milius) from a script by KnutsonAndy Sipes (Dallas & Robo) and Dana Snyder (Aqua Teen Hunger Force), Supercon also stars Mike Epps and John Malkovich. Archstone Distribution will release the film in theaters, on VOD and Digital HD on April 27th, followed by a DVD release from Sony Home Pictures Entertainment on June 5th. Here's the official synopsis:

Its another weekend, another comic convention for former TV actor Keith Mahar (Peters). Most people don’t recognize Keith. His only claim to fame was as a child star in an 80’s television show. Keith reluctantly joins his close friends, cartoon voice-over actor Matt (Kwanten) comic book artist Allison (Grace) and 80’sTV star Brock (Braselman), who are also working the convention, but things take a turn for the worst when Keith’s former co-star and Supercon’s big ticket draw for the weekend — Adam King (Brown) — decides to have this group fired and banned from the convention with the help of the convention promoter. This launches the friends on a crusade to bring down King and the promoter in the most epic way imaginable.
