With CBS’ new superhero series Supergirl set to debut this October 23rd and The CW’s second season of The Flash returning October 6th, some new faces will be joining the cast. First up is Peter Facinelli, who will be joining Supergirl as Maxwell Lord, a powerful businessman who was instrumental in forming the Justice League in the pages of DC Comics. Here’s how Facinelli’s addition will play out on the CBS series (via press release):
On Supergirl, Maxwell is a green tech billionaire who enjoys a friendly rivalry with Cat Grant and a fascination with National City’s newest arrival — Supergirl.
Supergirl executive producer Andrew Kreisberg said, “Greg [Berlanti], Ali [Adler] and I have been fans of Peter for years. We’re beyond thrilled to have him join us on Supergirl’s first adventures bringing the iconic Maxwell Lord to life.”
Another new addition to the WB DC TV landscape will be Michael Ironside, who joins The Flash as Lewis Snart. Fans of the show and the comics should recognize that name since the elder Snart happens to be the estranged, abusive father of villains Leonard Snart/Captain Cold (Wentworth Miller) and Lisa Snart/Golden Glider (Peyton List). [Sidenote: Smallville fans will notice that Ironside previously played General Sam Lane, the father to List’s Lucy Lane.]
As THR reports, Ironside’s Snart “is described as [a] cold-blooded, ruthless career criminal. Recently released from prison, he returns to Central City with a plan that will endanger both of his children. In the comics, not much is known about the Snart patriarch other than the fact that he was so abusive to his son — the future Captain Cold — that the boy spent more time with his grandfather who ran an ice truck.” Look for Ironside to guest star in the second season’s third episode, “Family of Rogues.”
