Gotham’s third season is premiering soon, but usually when we think DC TV it’s more focused on the CW’s four-night lineup of DC heroes (sorry, Gotham, you are … what you are). The Flash, Arrow, Legends of Tomorrow, and Supergirl are all slated to return in October, which means we’re finally getting some more tidbits about what to expect in their respective seasons.

It seems like all four series will be going through a sea change — Supergirl will be on a new network with a new Vancouver (rather than L.A.) aesthetic, the Arrow team has been scattered to the wind (or killed off), and has been promising a return to the show’s roots, while The Flash will be taking on the Flashpoint storyline to start the season, and Legends of Tomorrow is introducing the Legion of Doom and the Justice Society of America. All of these changes seem pretty promising, so let’s dive in to some of the specifics of what we’ve learned in our latest roundup:

Is Killer Frost Returning to ‘The Flash’?

Typically, it seems like the Flash is giving us the most to look forward to in its new season. In addition to Flashpoint, we’re getting a musical episode in the Spring, and another episode directed by Kevin Smith. Though I was a little more tepid about Smith’s Season 2 directorial debut, “The Runaway Dinosaur,” than most, it proved to not only be a heart-wrenching episode, but one that was key to Season 2’s end-game. Will the same be true this time? Smith is directing Episode 7 of Season 3, and recently posted a picture on Twitter of the script:

But wait, there’s more! One intrepid fan was able to enhance the image to show what looks like “Killer Frost” at the top of the second page (see below). I was a little dubious, so I downloaded the original image and put the contrast up super high as well, and did get the same result. Now, I’m not sure that I’m reading “Killer Frost” because that’s what I’m actually seeing, or because that’s what was suggested. So take this with a grain of salt!

Still, we do know that the Flashpoint storyline — though brief — will have a lasting effect on The Flash’s universe. Could that mean Killer Frost is no longer dead? (She was seemingly killed by Zoom in Season 2). Or has this alternate timeline created an alternate Earth-2? Or perhaps Caitlin, in this timeline, becomes Killer Frost in Earth Prime? So many possibilities ...

‘Legends of Tomorrow’ Season 2 Will Feature Two Obsidians

(Yes that picture is of Heatwave and not Obsidian, who we haven't seen yet, but isn't it a great shot?)

I’ve said my piece about Legends of Tomorrow Season 1, which started off as fun and crazy and devolved into being boring and crazy (and not so much in the good way any more), as well as the issues with Season 1’s toothless, casserole-making villain Vandal Savage. But, when I spoke to EP Phil Klemmer at these last TCAs, he told me that the show is going to throw out a lot of the rules that made Season 1 messy (“if I never have to hear the words ‘time paradox’ again…”) As the Legends bounce through time, they’ll be meeting different versions of characters. So as TV Line reports, the two Justice Society Obsidians will be played by Dan Payne (who will be the first Obsidian the team encounters), and Lance Henriksen, who will be a future version of the character. Maybe like the two Vixens on Arrow?

Regardless, from the comments Klemmer made to me it sounds like the thrust of this year’s storyline for Legends will be more about having fun, which it needs and which gives me some hope.

‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s Dichen Lachman Joins ‘Supergirl’?

Marvel / DC crossovers do happen, it seems, at least when it comes to actors. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. actress Dichen Lachman (Jiaying) was reportedly spotted on the set of Supergirl with a dragon tattoo, which according to Heroic Hollywood means she might be playing the villain Roulette:

The character was last seen in live-action on the 9th season of Smallville. Roulette isn’t a metahuman in the comics, but just a genius at calculating odds and gambling. She also typically has robot dogs and metahuman protection, but can fight in close combat if necessary.

Diggle Will Be “a Man without a State” on ‘Arrow’s New Season

In the same report about the dueingl Obsidians, TV Line has revealed a tidbit about where we’ll find David Ramsey’s Diggle in the upcoming season, given the trying events of Season 4 (it was trying for all of us Dig, believe that). Executive producer Wendy Mericle reveals:

“He’s stationed in Chechnya. He’s still in the military, and he’s very much a man without a state. He’s away from his family, and he’s away from the team, so he’s away from that family. He’s trying to figure out how he can get that sense of himself back after killing his brother.” Once Dig doescome back to Star City, he won’t be a fan of Oliver’s ragtag new superfriends. “He’s not going to love all these little upstarts, trying to take over his role,” Mericle says. “But he’ll adjust. He’s going to find some common ground with Wild Dog, and that will help take the sting out of it.”
