So while we wait for the next superhero content to be released, let’s catch up on the superhero news of the week. This week, we had casting updates from Spider-Man: Homecoming, Supergirls Superman was revealed, we learned a Malignant Man movie is coming our way, Arrow added a new vigilante, and The Crow remake could still happen. ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’: Donald Glover, Logan Marshall-Green, and Martin Starr Join

We won’t be seeing Spidey (Tom Holland) take center stage in Jon WattsSpider-Man: Homecoming until next year but names on the cast list continue to be revealed, the latest being those of Donald Glover, Logan Marshall-Green, and Martin Starr. According to reports, Glover is in talks to join the film in a role that is yet to be confirmed, and while Marshall-Green and Logan’s roles are also being kept under wraps, a report describes Marshall-Green’s part as a secondary antagonist.

‘Supergirl’: Tyler Hoechlin Cast as the Man of Steel

It was revealed not too long ago that Supergirl was looking to introduce Superman for its second season, that of course meaning that we would get to see a different face wearing the red cape other than Henry Cavill, but now it is no longer a mystery who that will be since it was revealed that actor Tyler Hoechlin has been cast as the Man of Steel for the upcoming season. In Season 2, Kara (Melissa Benoist) will reportedly be joined by her cousin Kal-El/Clark Kent/Superman, played by Hoechlin. The second season will also see the show move from CBS to the CW, so it’ll be interesting to see how all these changes play out moving forward.

‘Malignant Man’: Brad Peyton and James Wan Teaming For Comic Book Adaptation

While an argument can be made against some of them, comic book/superhero movies have proven to be incredibly successful and a popular trend at the moment, so unsurprisingly many studios look for properties that can be their next big franchise, as we now know Brad Peyton and James Wan are looking to do for Fox with Malignant Man. Reportedly, Peyton and Wan are teaming up to direct and produce, respectively, an adaptation of the comic book Malignant Man, which revolves around a man who thought was dying from a cancerous tumor before discovering he was the host of a mysterious parasite that gives him strange powers. A production timeline for Malignant Man is yet to be revealed, but neither Wan nor Peyton have a lot of free time at the moment.

‘Arrow’: Rick Gonzalez Joins as Vigilante Wild Dog

If you watch the show you know that there isn’t a particular lack of vigilantes in Arrow, but yet the show saw fit to introduce a new one for the upcoming season, and that will be Wild Dog, played by Rick Gonzalez. At the end of the fourth season Team Arrow was left broken, so Wild Dog will introduce as new dynamic as he is taken under Oliver (Stephen Amell)’s wing. In the comics, Wild Dog/Jack Wheeler is a former collegiate football player whose career is ruined by an injury, and after dropping out and serving in the Marine Corps, Wheeler returns to his education and meets a woman that becomes his fiancée, but after his love was murdered by the mafia, he became the vigilante known as Wild Dog.

‘The Crow’: Remake Still Could Happen After All

The list of bumps that The Crow remake has run into is almost as long as the list of actors and directors that have come and gone in the project, and for a movie that seems to have the powers of the universe going against it you would think at some point they would call it quits, but apparently we might still get to see this remake happen after all. According to reports, there might be a resolve on the issues that saw Corin Hardy exiting from directing duties, and while there are still obstacles, there is a chance for Hardy’s return and the possibility of another studio coming in. Nevertheless, as usual for this project in particular, time will tell where this al leads to.
