Superman made his first appearance in Action Comics No. 1 in June, 1938, so DC Comics has spent 2013 celebrating the iconic superhero's 75th anniversary.  Earlier this year, we told you that Man of Steel director Zack Snyder and Superman: The Animated Series co-creator Bruce Timm were doing an animated short to celebrate the anniversary, and now that short has gone online.  Running two minutes in length, the short attempts to throw in as many greatest hits as possible, and the execution is excellent as the score transitions from John Williams' Superman score to the new one by Hans Zimmer.  Although Snyder originally wanted to do the short in one continuous take, there ended up being a few cuts.  Thankfully, they're wisely placed at major turning points in the character's history.  If you're going to be annoyed by what was left out, I encourage you to instead be impressed by how much they were able to put in.

Hit the jump to check out the short, which will be included on the Blu-ray for Man of Steel.

The short originally debuted on EW.
