Sad news today for "Supernatural" fans as Kim Manners, the show's most active director, passed away after a battle with cancer. While we usually like to attribute a show's success to its showrunners, a regular director who is familiar with the cast and crew is an invaluable addition to a program and Manners was responsible for directing some of the show's most powerful episodes including "Heart" and "All Hell Breaks Loose: Part II". Also, like a large chunk of the "Supernatural" crew, Manners was heavily involved with "The X-Files" had worked as television director all the way back to "Charlie's Angels" in 1979. Show creator and executive producer Eric Kripke had this to say on Manners' passing:
Everyone at "Supernatural" is walking around in a daze, shocked and absolutely devastated. Kim was a brilliant director; more than that, he was a mentor and friend. He was one of the patriarchs of the family, and we miss him desperately. He gave so much to "Supernatural," and everything we do on the show, now and forever, is in memory of him.
