God love those Winchester Boys (or does he?). The dynamic fraternal duo played by Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles have been to hell and back (and back and back and back) since Supernatural debuted back in 2005. With more than a decade on the air, the series is now entering its 12th season, easily cementing its status as the longest-running series on The CW, but just how long that run will be has become a constant question for fans of the show.

For the network's part, President Mark Pedowitz pretty much constantly says that the show will reamain on air for as long as the numbers keep, and as long as Ackles and Padalecki want to be a part of it. And now it seems that duo has their eyes trained on the next major benchmark as a possible end for the series -- the 300th episode.

“In a marathon, I keep my sights on that next mile, wherever that might be,” Ackles said in an interview with EW. “And 300’s a good number to work for.”

That episode count would take the series all the way through Season 13 and half-way through Season 14 -- or possibly serve as the series finale in a truncated final season. Executive producer Bob Singer told the outlet, “We talked about wanting to be able to know when our end was, and if it was to be, let’s say, 300 episodes, we could tell a 13-episode story." Adding, I think it would be bad for this show to just ride off in the sunset without a finale. I think we’ve earned that. I don’t know what that finale is, but we’d certainly like to do one.”

This is, of course, assuming that the series remains on the air for that long. But given the talent and network's mutual commitment and the fervently devoted fanbase it seems pretty likely. “If we don’t make it to 300, I think Ackles and I will both be truly bummed,” Padalecki added. “When we get to 300, I think Ackles and I will think it might be time to say bye. There’s a chance that changes, but we certainly do not take it for granted that we’re going to make it to 300.”

So there you have it folks The Boys are eyeing episode 300 as a possible end date. Would that be enough to satisfy your Supernatural thirst? Or do you hope the series is as unending as the Winchesters' torment and as long as Sammy's ever-growing mane? Sound off in the comments.
