CBS Films Release Date Shuffle: GAMBIT, Starring Colin Firth and Cameron Diaz, Moved Up to October 12; Thriller 7500 Pushed to 2013

by     Posted 2 years, 226 days ago

CBS Films has done a bit of release date shuffling for two of their upcoming releases.  First up, director Michael Hoffman’s remake of the 1966 caper comedy Gambit has been moved up from January 11th, 2013 to October 12th of this year (per Box Office Mojo).  Cameron Diaz and Colin Firth star as partners in a con to sell a fake Monet painting, and the film has a script by Joel and Ethan Coen.  Given the caliber of talent involved, the January date was always a bit of a puzzler.  The film will now square off against Ben Affleck’s stellar looking period thriller Argo and the Kevin James “comedy” Here Comes the Boom.  Hit the jump for more, including release date news concerning The Grudge director Takashi Shimizu’s airplane thriller 7500.

Jerry Ferrara Talks THINK LIKE A MAN, BATTLESHIP, 7500 and the ENTOURAGE Movie

by     Posted 2 years, 247 days ago

The comedy Think Like A Man, out in theaters on April 20th, is about a group of friends who have their love lives shaken up, after the women they are pursuing buy Steve Harvey’s best-selling book (that the film is inspired by) and start taking his advice to heart.  When they realize that they have been betrayed by one of their own, they conspire to use the book’s teachings to turn the tables.  The film features an ensemble cast that includes Michael Ealy, Jerry Ferrara, Meagan Good, Regina Hall, Kevin Hart, Taraji P. Henson, Romany Malco and Gabrielle Union.

During this recent exclusive phone interview with Collider, actor Jerry Ferrara talked about what drew him to Think Like A Man, how he could relate to playing the slacker, that there’s something for everyone in the film, and how much improvising went on during shooting.  He also talked about how the Entourage movie is definitely still in the works (show creator Doug Ellin is currently writing it), what it was like to be a part of such a huge film as Battleship (in theaters on May 18th) and who he plays in the film, his upcoming horror-thriller 7500 (scheduled for release on August 31st), the directors he’d love to work with, and that his goals in this business are longevity and respect.  Check out what he had to say after the jump:

Teaser Trailer for Supernatural Airplane Thriller 7500 Starring Leslie Bibb and Ryan Kwanten

by     Posted 2 years, 325 days ago

Air travel is already annoying enough without supernatural terror going down.  There’s not enough leg room, they now charge you for every little thing (in our lifetime, major airlines will charge you to use the bathroom), and it does everything in its power to diminish the magic of air travel.  I suppose we’ll have to settle for dark magic or whatever freaky thing is attacking the passengers of 7500, the new film from Takashi Shimizu (The Grudge).  I really hope that it’s attacking because some guy didn’t turn off his electronic device during take-off. Please let that be the reason.

Hit the jump to check out the trailer.  The film stars Ryan Kwanten, Leslie Bibb, Nicky Whelan, Jerry Ferrera, Christian Serratos, Jamie Chung, and Amy Smart7500 opens August 31st.

Ryan Kwanten and Amy Smart in Talks for 7500; Dylan McDermott Joins DOG FIGHT

CBS Films acquired a pitch from The Grudge director Takashi Shimizu this summer under the reported title Flight 75Bloody Disgusting reports the studio is currently in talks with Ryan Kwanten (True Blood) and Amy Smart (Crank) to star in the “claustrophobic thriller,” now going by the title Flight 7500.  (100x better!) [Update: We have been informed that the title is actually 7500.]  The story is set on “a transpacific airliner from Los Angeles to Tokyo where the passengers encounter what seems to be a supernatural force.”   Smart would play one of the passengers; the specifics of Kwanten’s role are unknown.  Taka Ichise and Roy Lee are reuniting with their Grudge director to produce 7500.  The premise is fertile, and Kwanten and Smart are amiable stars: CBS may have something on their hands.
