On last night’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (read Evan’s recap here), the show introduced the character Bobbi Morse (a.k.a. Mockingbird) who, as we previously reported, would be “popping in perhaps not as an ally to Coulson (Clark Gregg) and his team.”  Today, we have an official image of Adrianne Palicki in Mockingbird’s tactical outfit along with some concept art.

Hit the jump to check out the outfit along with an explanation from Costume Designer Ann FoleyAgents of S.H.I.E.L.D. airs Tuesday nights on ABC, and if you don’t watch it, you may want to next week because it’s going to have the first trailer for Avengers: Age of Ultron.

Keanu Reeves Continues to Kick Ass in New JOHN WICK Trailer and Images

Lionsgate has released a new John Wick trailer for what’s shaping up to be one of the biggest out-of-nowhere surprises of the year.  Just a month or so ago, I didn’t even know this movie existed.  Then Lionsgate acquired the revenge thriller off of positive buzz and released a fantastic debut trailer that teased a fun, slick, and highly quotable actioner complete with a swell-looking lead performance by Keanu Reeves.  The actor plays a former hitman who comes out of retirement to track down the gangsters who took everything from him, and this new, final trailer offers up another promising look at the film.  Yeah, I’m thinking I’m gonna see this.

JOHN WICK Trailer: Keanu Reeves Seeks Revenge in Incredibly Violent Fashion

Summit Entertainment has released the first John Wick trailer for the upcoming revenge actioner, and it’s actually kind of great.  The film marks the directorial debut of veteran stunt coordinator Chad Stahelski and stars Keanu Reeves as a former hit man who comes out of retirement to track down the gangsters who took everything from him.  This trailer is incredibly promising, as the film looks to have the right balance of absurdity and action.  It doesn’t take itself too seriously, but it’s not overly campy either.  And Reeves looks to be having a blast as he’s surrounded by a diverse, impressive supporting cast.  Add in the fact that John Wick has been chosen to screen at Fantastic Fest next month, and this could prove to be one of the fall’s bigger pleasant surprises.

Watch the John Wick trailer after the jump.  The film also stars Adrianne Palicki, Willem Dafoe, Bridget Moynahan, Ian McShane, Jason Isaacs, Alfie Allen, Lance Reddick, John Leguizamo, and Michael NyqvistJohn Wick opens in theaters on October 24th.

AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. Hires Adrianne Palicki to Guest Star as Bobbi Morse a.k.a Mockingbird

by     Posted 71 days ago

After the incredibly disappointing first season of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. the series is returning with a new gameplan: guest stars, guest stars, and guest stars.  Kyle MacLachlan is playing Skye’s father; Lucy Lawless is playing veteran S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Isabelle Hartley; and Reed Diamond is playing Hydra baddie Daniel Whitehall (a.k.a Kraken).  THR is now reporting that Adrianne Palicki will be making an appearance this season as Bobbi Morse, a.k.a. Mockingbird.  According to THR, Morse “will appear in the fifth episode of the Marvel procedural with the potential to return; the episode will find her popping in perhaps not as an ally to Coulson (Clark Gregg) and his team.”  While Palicki is a likable presence, her casting and the casting of other guest stars doesn’t address the show’s larger problem like the bad writing, dull main characters, and crummy special effects.  Hopefully, season two is where Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. comes into its own instead of being that TV thing Marvel does.

Hit the jump for the Comic-Con video where agents Billy Koenig and Sam Koenig (Patton Oswalt and Patton Oswalt) teased the appearance of Morse in the new season.

Adrianne Palicki Looks Back at Starring in the Failed WONDER WOMAN Pilot; Will Return to Play Lady Jaye in G.I. JOE 3

A couple years ago, David E. Kelley (The Practice) attempted to launch a Wonder Woman series for NBC, and what we saw looked unimpressive to say the least, although two people who saw the pilot were mixed on the result.  All I can say is that the costume looked laughably cheap (NBC changed it after the negative reaction from fans), and it didn’t bode well for the series. However, Adrianne Palicki wasn’t a terrible choice for the role at least in terms of her physique and ability to do stunts.  In a recent interview, Palicki talked about the chance to play the famous superhero, and why she’s a little grateful the show didn’t get picked up.

G.I. JOE: RETALIATION Blu-ray Review

by     Posted 1 year, 41 days ago

Large explosions, death-defying aerobatics, flashing gunfire, and buff people talking about stuff in dramatic fashion. G.I. Joe: Retaliation gives audiences exactly what they’re expecting—nothing more, and nothing less—which can be a good thing.

G.I. Joe: Retaliation picks up where the first movie left off, with Duke (played by Channing Tatum) leading the elite fighting force in a number of missions against their hated foe, COBRA. While celebrating some much deserved downtime, the Joes are attacked by a squadron of COBRA helicopters and ground units, and are killed almost to a man, save for a few survivors. On the verge of eradication and marked as terrorists by their government, the Joes must uncover the face of their attackers and once again save the world’s governments from being overtaken by the diabolical Cobra Commander.  Hit the jump for my full review of G.I. Joe: Retaliation on Blu-ray.

TOP 5: THE WOLVERINE Trailers, G.I. JOE: RETALIATION, First Trailer and Poster for WHITE HOUSE DOWN, PAIN & GAIN, THE HOST Interviews

Before I dive into the main topic of this week’s opening paragraph, just a quick disclaimer that the Top 5 will be taking a week off next Saturday to accommodate the first, and perhaps only, trip to Hawaii I will ever take. Here’s to hoping it’s less awkward but equally as life-changing and Kristen Bell/Mila Kunis-filled as Forgetting Sarah Marshall depicted. That said, while it fell just short of the cut this week, I still want to draw attention to the first trailer for director Adam Wingard‘s You’re Next that debuted on Thursday. As a horror fan, I’m always excited when a new entry in the genre gets lauded from both sides of the aisle (horror fans and those who aren’t as giddy about movies that make them think twice about turning out the lights). As far as I’m concerned, August 23rd can’t get here soon enough.

All Hawaii and horror fanboy talk aside, this week’s list offers up the first trailer(s) for The Wolverine, interviews with Dwayne Johnson and more for G.I. Joe: Retaliation, the first trailer and posters for White House Down, a new red-band trailer for Pain & Gain, and The Host interviews with Saoirse Ronan and more. As you’re probably expecting, a brief recap and link to all of the above can be found after the jump.

G.I. JOE: RETALIATION Review

If you’re going to make a movie designed to sell toys, you may as well show how much fun it is to play with them.  Although almost none of the original characters remain, G.I. Joe: Retaliation continues the spirit of G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra by happily embracing big vehicles and weapons to deliver set pieces on steroids that never feel overbearing.  It’s not a particularly smart movie or one with compelling characters, but without any irony it takes one of the villain’s lines to heart: “America likes the guy who blows stuff up.”
