Yesterday we got a look at the rather tame Comic-Con 2013 schedule for Wednesday’s Preview Night and Thursday, and today SDCC has unveiled the full panel lineup for Friday, July 19th.  Last year was the first year that Comic-Con moved TV panels into Hall H for days other than Sunday, and after getting a look at Friday’s lineup, the Con is starting to look more and more like a TV convention.  While there are first-looks at The World’s End, The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Kick-Ass 2, and Riddick to look forward to, the entire convention is packed with TV panels on Friday, including Hall H panels for The Walking Dead, Game of Thrones, and the Veronica Mars movie.

I’m baffled by the fact that the panel for Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. with Joss Whedon is being held in Ballroom 20 and not Hall H, and at the same time as the Walking Dead panel no less.  Hit the jump to take a look at the highlights from Friday’s schedule.  Comic-Con 2013 runs from July 18th – July 21st.

Limited Paper: Mondo Announces Second ADVENTURE TIME Gallery Show from Artists JJ Harrison, Rich Kelly, Craig Drake; BLACK BEETLE Online Drop

by     Posted 1 year, 193 days ago

Mondo’s made no secret of the fact that they’re really, really, really into Pendleton Ward and Cartoon Network’s blockbuster animated series, Adventure Time.  Last year, they held a special marathon screening for the series at the Alamo Drafthouse (complete with an Adventure Time-themed menu, which gave birth do the Rainicorn-colored hot dogs that still making regular appearances in Limited Paper’s most terrifying nightmares), released a print to commemorate the event, and opened an Adventure Time-themed gallery show.

Sporadic Adventure Time-themed releases were dropped in the months that followed, often enough that rumors circulated that a second AT-themed show was headed to the Mondo Gallery.  And—as some of you may have already heard—the rumor’s now been confirmed:  a second Adventure Time-themed showcase will open towards the end of this month…and this time Ward’s series is bringing J.G. Quintel’s Regular Show along for the ride.  More on this (as well as an update re: Francesco Francavilla’s Black Beetle print) after the jump, folks.

In the debut edition of Limited Paper, we named Mark Englert as our first-ever “Thing Worth Getting Excited About”, pointing to his outstanding posters for The Thing, Stephen King’s It, and The Walking Dead as proof of his awesomeness.  Well, it’s now a few months later, and it appears that we weren’t the only ones getting excited by Mark’s work:  just today, Mondo announced their first-ever collaboration with Englert…and from the looks of it, it’s going to be a doozy.

Want to see Mark Englert’s Back to the Future poster?  Mondo’s latest Adventure Time poster?  Meet me after the jump, my fellow poster nerds.

Without a doubt, Adventure Time has one of the most rabid followings of any animated show currently out there.  If you’ve been to Comic-Con, you likely have seen a ton of Finn, Jake, or Fionna outfits.  The cartoon smartly appeals to boys, girls, and men and women with a zany world and fun story that builds on itself.  Oh, and not to mention a catch-phrase that you can say to any fan that they will immediately respond to.  This was one of my most-anticipated panels in San Diego this year and as a new fan I was not disappointed Saturday afternoon.  Creator and voice of Lumpy Space Princess Pendleton Ward was on hand to moderator the panel filled with songwriter Rebecca Sugar, Jeremy Shada (Finn), John DiMaggio (Jake), and Tom Kenny (Ice King).  Hit the jump for the panel highlights, the radio play audio, and a full description of the upcoming Flame Princess episode clip shown.

Read all about ‘em after the jump, my fellow poster-geeks.

Pendleton Ward’s Adventure Time offers a bright, weird, subversively funny experience to its viewers, so it should come as no surprise that Justin Ishmael (creative director at Mondo and a known fan of the weird, colorful, and subversive things in life) would be amongst the show’s ever-expanding army of fans.  And as such, it should come as no surprise that the Mondo Gallery’s second-ever show would end up being based on Ward’s series.  On Friday, that show opened in Austin, TX, and was quickly followed by an Adventure Time marathon/screening at the Alamo Drafthouse.   Wanna see some art from the show?  Hear what an Adventure Time marathon (and specialty menu) was like for someone who’d never seen the series?   Wanna read an exclusive interview with Pen Ward and Adventure Time star Tom Kenny?  It’s all after the jump, folks.
