A trailer leak isn’t really a good thing, but it seems to have worked out well for Avengers: Age of Ultron and for those eager to see as much footage as possible, too!  Marvel just revealed that within the first 24 hours, that new teaser trailer scored 34.3 million global views, which decimates the previous record of 20 million views set by Iron Man 3.

Because the teaser trailer arrived prior to that planned Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. premiere, Marvel has decided to offer up even more brand new Age of Ultron material during the October 28th episode.  And the studio isn’t stopping there.  Marvel will air even more exclusive Age of Ultron footage during Marvel 75 Years: From Pulp to Pop! on November 4th as well.  Hit the jump for all the details.   Avengers: Age of Ultron arrives in theaters on May 1, 2015.

agents-of-shield-season-2-logo-slice

Welcome back, true believers!  Our latest installment promises to introduce a long standing character from the comics into the Marvel cinematic universe in the form of Bobbi Morse, played by Adrianne Palicki.  Bobbi, aka Mockingbird, is the ex-wife of Avenger, Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner in the movies), and has found herself on quite a few incarnations of the team herself.  In our most recent installment of the series, the gang will find themselves at odds with Ms. Morse as she is revealed to be the current head of security for Hydra.  Whether or not this is a con or a new take on the character is yet to be seen, though it would be funny to see how many undercover S.H.I.E.L.D. agents there are in Hydra at this point with the recent episode focusing on Simmons.  (Maybe there are no actual Hydra agents left!)  Will the team be able to battle the forces of Hydra this go around?  Is Mockingbird friend or foe?  Has Agent Coulson been working on his dance routine from last week?  All these and more revealed in our latest Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. recap after the jump.

When you don’t watch a show, how much fun can you expect to have at its New York Comic-Con panel?  Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., however, was a blast to attend.  Just like last year, Marvel’s Head of Television, Jeph Loeb, was on hand to introduce the early screening of Tuesday, October 14th’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. episode, but this time around, he let Clark Gregg do it with him and when he came out, the crowd went nuts for him.

Not only did we get to experience a hefty dose of Coulson craziness and see next week’s episode, but Loeb and Gregg also unveiled some footage from Marvels brand new series Agent Carter as well.  Hit the jump for more on that in my Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Comic-Con panel recap.

TV ratings for Tuesday, October 7th are in, bringing both good and bad news for superhero fans.  Here’s a brief look at the highlights:

  • The CW’s series debut of its Arrow spinoff The Flash got off to a very good start, hitting a 1.8 rating in the 18-49 demo and scoring 4.5 million viewers.  The performance marked The CW’s most-watched and highest-rated series debut since The Vampire Diaries premiered in 2009.  It also helps that the show is apparently quite good, as our own Dave Trumbore can attest in his full recap.
  • On the flipside, ABC’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. continues to struggle as it fell to yet another series low last night, earning a 1.6 rating and scoring 4.39 million viewers.  That’s down two tenths from last week.  Read Evan Valentine’s recap here.

Robert Downey Jr. Dismisses “Mel Gibson Directing IRON MAN 4” Comments But Confirms Film Is in Development; Talks SHERLOCK 3 and More

Robert Downey Jr. is quite the popular guy, so it’s no surprise that his AMA on reddit was a heavily populated affair.  Downey Jr. took some time to answer a number of different questions in promotion of his upcoming drama The Judge, and during the course of the AMA he touched on a number of issues.  Chiefly, Downey Jr. dismissed his recent comment about starring in Iron Man 4 if Mel Gibson directs as a simple offhanded remark (as was made clear in the context of the full interview; not sure why everyone started reporting this as fact in the first place).  He also touched on the likelihood of making an appearance on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., the status of Sherlock Holmes 3, a noir-tinged Perry Mason project that he’s developing, and he even made brief mention of Avengers: Age of Ultron.

Additionally, while appearing on The Ellen Show Downey straight-up admitted that Iron Man 4 is in the works.  Read on after the jump.

Tuesday TV Ratings: AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. Falls to Series Low; SELFIE Falters in Debut

ratings-agents-of-shield-selfie

TV ratings for Tuesday, September 30th are in.  Here’s a brief look at the highlights:

  • ABC’s Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is not doing great.  The second episode of the show’s second season (read Evan’s recap here) garnered a 1.7 rating in the 18-49 demo and scored 4.54 million viewers, notching a series low for the Marvel show.  On the bright side, there’s always the possibility that it could receive a jolt in viewership after its midseason break following the debut of Agent Carter, but there’s no guarantee that show will be a hit either.
  • Elsewhere on ABC, the series premiere of the awfully-titled Selfie scored a 1.4 rating in the demo and 4.89 million viewers.  Despite the cringe-worthy premise, our own Allison Keene thought the pilot episode was saved by its solid cast.  Those debut numbers on down considerably from the 3.0 rating that The Goldbergs nabbed in its post-S.H.I.E.L.D. series premiere last year.
  • The other ABC shows of the night were Manhattan Love Story with a 1.3 rating and 4.28 million viewers and Forever with a 1.3 rating and 5.6 million viewers.
