BIG HERO 6 International Trailer: Hiro Hamada Meets Baymax

Disney has released a Big Hero 6 international trailer.  Although the trailer is entirely in Japanese, after that domestic trailer dropped yesterday and absolutely melted my heart, I’m down to watch Hiro (voice by Ryan Potter) and Baymax (Scott Adsit) do just about anything, even if I can’t understand what they’re saying.

This one still has the footage of Hiro trying to train Baymax and help him suit up, but it’s got a far more somber tone to it.  Rather than open up with vibrant colors and an amusing scene like watching Baymax plug up a few holes with tape, this international version gets a funeral and rather blue and grey imagery to go with it.  However, as soon as Baymax pops up – or rather, blows up – the piece lightens significant and also gives us a look at how and why Hiro and Baymax came together in the first place.  Hit the jump to check out the Big Hero 6 international trailer.  The film opens in 3D on November 7th, and also features the voices of Maya Rudolph, James Cromwell, T.J. Miller, Jamie Chung, Genesis Rodriguez, Damon Wayans Jr., and Alan Tudyk.

New BIG HERO 6 Trailer: Check out More of Disney’s Animated Adaptation of the Marvel Superhero Comic [Updated]

Disney has released a new Big Hero 6 trailer online.  Don Hall (Winnie the Pooh) and Chris Williams (Bolt) directed the adaptation of the Marvel comic, which takes place in the high-tech city of San Fransokyo, and tells the story of a robotics prodigy named Hiro Hamada (voiced by Ryan Potter) who, with his robot companion Baymax (Scott Adsit) in tow, teams up with a reluctant team of first-time crime fighters to save the metropolis from destruction.  Like the teaser, this trailer puts a heavy emphasis on Baymax, and I’m completely fine with that.  He comes off as funny and adorable, and this overall movie looks like it could be a lot of fun.

New Trailer for FROZEN Features Elsa and a First Listen to One of the Film’s Musical Numbers

Until this point, I had been underwhelmed by what I’d seen from Disney’s new animated movie musical, Frozen.  It seemed kind of cute, but with too much emphasis on the goofy snowman Olaf (Josh Gad).  But now Disney has released a new trailer that makes me incredibly excited to see the film.  The film centers on a young dreamer named Anna (Kristen Bell) who teams up with Kristoff (Jonathan Groff), an extreme mountain man, to find the Snow Queen, Elsa (Idina Menzel), and put an end to a spell that has trapped their kingdom in eternal winter.  Elsa is also Anna’s sister, and this trailer shows that Elsa isn’t some one-dimensional villain.  She has a power she can’t control and is being persecuted for it.  Anna and Elsa are sisters, and seeing Anna try to help her sister rather than defeat some super-powered baddie is far more interesting.  The trailer also gives us a sample of one of the musical numbers, it sounds good.

Disney has released the first theatrical trailer for its upcoming animated film Frozen.  Directed by Chris Buck (Tarzan) and Jennifer Lee (Wreck-It Ralph), the film features Kristen Bell as the voice of a young dreamer named Anna who teams up with Kristoff (Jonathan Groff), an extreme mountain man, to find the Snow Queen (Idina Menzel) and put an end to a spell that has trapped their kingdom in eternal winter.  While the film certainly looks cute and funny, I’m a tad disappointed that this trailer doesn’t showcase the film’s musical numbers.  That being said, the trailer does show hints of a return to the fantastical, cynic-free films that Disney used to make, so here’s hoping we see more of that in subsequent trailers.

Hit the jump to watch the trailer and to check out a couple of new images.  The film also features the voices of Josh Gad, Alan Tudyk, Santino Fontana, and Chris Williams.  Frozen opens in 3D on November 27th.

New Trailer for Jackie Robinson Biopic 42, Starring Chadwick Boseman and Harrison Ford

Warner Bros. has released a new trailer for writer/director Brian Helgeland’s real life drama 42.  The film chronicles how Jackie Robinson (Chadwick Boesman) and Brooklyn Dodgers general manager Branch Rickey (Harrison Ford) worked together to eradicate segregation in baseball in 1947.  This longer trailer does a nice job of selling the film as more thrilling and exciting than your typical cradle-to-grave biopic (again enhanced by Jay-Z), but I think the first trailer popped a bit more.  The performances look impressive and I like the visual aesthetic that Helgeland has settled on, so here’s hoping we’re in for an engaging iteration of a truly powerful story.

It’s looking like director Rich Moore’s animated feature Wreck-It Ralph is going to rule the box office this weekend.  If you’re still on the fence about this family-friendly film, we’ve got three new clips to share with you in hopes of convincing you to check it out.  They highlight Fix-It Felix, Jr. (voiced by Jack McBrayer) meeting Sgt. Calhoun (Jane Lynch) for the first time, a deal struck between Ralph (John C. Reilly) and Vanellope Von Schweetz (Sarah Silverman) and a special game character cameo with some helpful information.

Wreck-It Ralph, also featuring the voices of Alan Tudyk, Ed O’Neill, Adam Carolla and Mindy Kaling, is currently playing in theaters.  Hit the jump to see the new clips.

WRECK-IT RALPH Review

The last time I saw a bait-and-switch like Wreck-It Ralph was, fittingly, the video game Brütal Legend.  The game was set up like an open-world action-adventure, and instead it was more of a lame real-time strategy game.  Wreck-It-Ralph isn’t quite the severe disappointment of Brütal Legend, but the movie takes its best quality—living in a video game world and all the cleverness that entails—and leaves it behind to play in a nice, but forgettable candy land.  There’s enough humor and sweetness (literally and figuratively) to make it worth a few of your quarters, but it doesn’t have much replay value.

We have the first clip from Seal Team Six: The Raid on Osama Bin Laden to share with you today.  At nearly two minutes, the clip shows the Navy SEALS about to embark on the mission they’ve been training for: the attack on high value target, Osama Bin Laden. The feature-length dramatization from director John Stockwell (Into the Blue) stars Freddy Rodriquez, Xzibit, Cam Gigandet, Anson Mount, Kathleen Robertson, Eddie Kay Thomas and Kenneth Miller.   Seal Team Six: The Raid on Osama Bin Laden premieres on the National Geographic channel Sunday, November 4th at 8pm.  It will also be made available for streaming on Netflix a day after its premiere (just in time for Election Day!).

There’s also a new clip from Rich Moore’s animated feature, Wreck-It Ralph.  The new clip shows Ralph (voiced by John C. Reilly) at his self-help group, Bad Guys Anonymous. Attempting to make him feel better about being bad are fellow antagonists Zangief, Clyde the Ghost, M. Bison, Neff, Dr. Eggman, Bowser and an axe-wielding zombie.  Wreck-It Ralph, also featuring the voices of Sarah Silverman, Jack McBrayer, Jane Lynch and Alan Tudyk, opens November 2nd.  Hit the jump to see the clips.

New Clips from WRECK-IT RALPH and PARANORMAL ACTIVITY 4

Two new clips to share with you today: one comes from director Rich Moore’s animated arcade game homage, Wreck-It Ralph; the other hails from Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman’s Paranormal Activity 4.  The previously released clip from Wreck-It Ralph showed our titular hero (voiced by John C. Reilly) meeting Vanellope von Schweetz (Sarah Silverman).  This time around, Ralph meets up with “Hero’s Duty” drill sergeant, Calhoun (Jane Lynch).  The Paranormal Activity 4 clip gives more frantic looks at creepy stuff like dead-eyed kids skulking about and a girl levitating off of her bed. So, there’s that.

Wreck-It Ralph, also featuring the voices of Jack McBrayer, Alan Tudyk, Mindy Kaling and Adam Carolla, opens November 2nd.  Paranormal Activity 4, starring Katie Featherson and Kathryn Newton, opens October 19th.  Hit the jump to see both clips.

First Trailer, Teaser Poster and Synopsis for Jackie Robinson Biopic 42, Starring Chadwick Boseman and Harrison Ford

The first trailer for director Brian Helgeland’s Jackie Robinson biopic, 42, has gone online.  No sports-related trailer is complete without a walk down the tunnel from the locker room and this one is no different.  Where the trailer quickly distances itself is in the film’s fearless to take on race relations, a central part to Robinson’s rise to fame in the sports world.  Boseman takes on the role whole-heartedly and looks to be an absolute force in the film.  I’m usually not a fan of contemporary songs in period trailers (I’m looking at you, The Great Gatsby), but Jay-Z’s track nails it this time around.

42 stars Chadwick Boseman as Robinson, with Harrison Ford, Christopher Meloni, Jon Bernthal, Alan Tudyk and John C. McGinley, and opens April 12th, 2013.  Hit the jump to watch the trailer.

Though the film’s release is only a few months away, Disney has added a slew of last-minute additions to the voice cast of the animated feature Wreck-It Ralph.  The story centers on the eponymous bad guy (John C. Reilly) from the arcade game “Fix-It Felix Jr.” who decides he wants to be the hero, and escapes to other video game worlds.  The film’s trailer—and premise—is very geek friendly, with video game references and cameos galore.  Now a number of voice actors have been added to the roster, including Alan Tudyk, Ed O’Neill, Mindy Kaling, Adam Carolla, Horatio Sanz, Dennis Haysbert, Rachel Harris, and many more.

Hit the jump to check out the full list of new actors, and if you missed Steve’s interview with director Rich Moore be sure to check it out right here.  He talks about Easter eggs, famous cameos, and more.  Wreck-It Ralph opens on November 2nd.

I got in line for Ballroom 20 at 6:30am today.  I was early enough to be twenty minutes late to the first panel, because Firefly fans are crazy.  They camped out en masse for the Firefly 10-year reunion—the third panel of the day—and effectively throttled the line for fans of any other properties.  For a show that was cancelled after one shortened season a decade ago, the Firefly crew—Joss WhedonNathan FillionAdam BaldwinAlan TudykSean MaherSummer Glau, writer Jose Molina and producer Tim Minear—sure does draw a crowd.  Could it possibly live up to the Comic-Con hype?  Hit the jump for the panel recap.
