Funny or Die has put together a new short to promote the upcoming release of American Reunion. Star Jason Biggs‘ reputation will never be free of fucking the pie in American Pie, and in the new short, the pie wants its revenge. American Reunion will be a success if it’s even half as funny as this short.
Hit the jump to check out the short. American Reunion also stars Seann William Scott, Alyson Hannigan, Chris Klein, Thomas Ian Nichols, Eddie Kaye Thomas, Tara Reid, Mena Suvari, Eugene Levy, Jennifer Coolidge, Katrina Bowden, Dania Ramirez, and Shannon Elizabeth. The film opens April 6th.

A new trailer for American Reunion has gone online. I would never have guessed that the American Pie franchise would feel so sentimental, but the marketing materials for American Reunion have been just incredibly nostalgic. This new trailer delves a bit more into the plot, as we see Jason Biggs’s Jim tempted by the girl he used to babysit who’s now turning 18. Seann William Scott looks like he’ll once again steal the show, and it really feels nice to see all the characters back together again. The overarching tone appears to center on where the characters are now as opposed to where they thought they’d be when they were wide-eyed high schoolers, and I’m interested to see how far they take this. Of course the crux of the films is the humor, but there was a sweetness to American Pie that looks to be prevalent in American Reunion. Time will tell, but I’m genuinely looking forward to this (likely) final installment of the main franchise.

New posters have gone online for the American Pie sequel American Reunion and for the delayed Mel Gibson thriller How I Spent My Summer Vacation. While I’m still not that interested in a new American Pie movie, I like how the Reunion poster is based on the poster for the original movie. Except…this time Michelle (Alyson Hannigan) is holding a baby bottle instead of a flute…and the flute went in her…oh, sweet God. If that’s a joke in the movie, then they have taken gross-out humor to a whole new level. It’s a disturbing level that may fall out of the comic realm.
As for How I Spent My Summer Vacation, I didn’t even remember this movie existed. It turns out Gibson made it with Adrian Grunberg who served as the first assistant director on Apocalypto. Gibson plays “a career criminal who gets caught by Mexican authorities and is sent to a drug- and crime-filled prison, where he learns how to survive with the help of a 9-year-old boy.” If it turns out the “help” the 9-year-old boy provides is as a human shield, I would absolutely believe that for a Mel Gibson movie. Hit the jump to check out the posters. American Reunion is due out April 6, 2012. How I Spent My Summer Vacation is due out “Summer 2012″ but who knows if that will be in theaters or straight to DVD (if that date even holds).

Last month, Universal released a red-band teaser trailer for American Reunion, and once again showed that masturbation isn’t for everyone and certainly not for Jim Levenstein (Jason Biggs). Now an all-audiences trailer has gone online and it looks like A) Seann William Scott will once again be the scene-stealer, and B) any jokes that aren’t R-rated are sitcom-level. Even though I’m tired of the characters, I’m willing to give American Reunion a shot since writer-directors Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg earned my goodwill with the first two Harold & Kumar movies.
Hit the jump to check out the trailer. The film also stars Alyson Hannigan, Chris Klein, Thomas Ian Nichols, Eddie Kaye Thomas, Tara Reid, Mena Suvari, Eugene Levy, Jennifer Coolidge, and Shannon Elizabeth. American Reunion opens April 6, 2012.

The red-band trailer for American Reunion has gone online. It serves as a helpful reminder that Jim (Jason Biggs) should never masturbate ever again. He’s just not very good at it. However, it does lead to a good gag involving a sock. There’s not much else to say about the trailer since there’s no footage beyond the scene I mentioned. It’s really more of an announcement that people in their 30s are making a teenage sex comedy.

The film also stars Seann William Scott, Alyson Hannigan, Chris Klein, Thomas Ian Nichols, Eddie Kaye Thomas, Tara Reid, Mena Suvari, Eugene Levy, Jennifer Coolidge, and Shannon Elizabeth. Writer-directors Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg were able to throw a brilliant cameo into Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle by getting Neil Patrick Harris to play a dark, twisted parody of himself. Keep in mind that this was before Harris had revitalized his career and the humor of having Harris wasn’t out of shock value but because it was just a funny and bizarre character.
Hopefully Hurwitz and Schlossberg will be able to bring that cameo magic to American Reunion with their casting of Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Chad Ochocinco. Ochocinco is already a ridiculous figure in his own right having changed his last name to reflect the number 85 on his jersey, starring on a reality TV dating show on VH1, being a contestant on Dancing with the Stars, and playing for the Cincinnati Bengals. I’m eager to see how Hurwitz and Schlossberg will make him even funnier for their movie. Hit the jump to check out an image of Ochocinco with returning American Pie cast members Jason Biggs, Thomas Ian Nicholas, Chris Klein, Eddie Kaye Thomas, and Seann William Scott. The film opens April 6, 2012.

Set photos from the upcoming non direct-to-DVD American Pie sequel, American Reunion, have gone online. They’re not photos from filming, but simply the cast looking directly into the camera while on the set and showing us all what a grand time they’re having. The photos also show that John Cho is returning, although I’m left to wonder if his role will be as minor as it was in the original movies.
Hit the jump to check out the set photos. The film reunites Jason Biggs, Alyson Hannigan, Eugene Levy, and almost everyone else from the original movie. American Reunion opens April 6, 2012.

The upcoming American Pie sequel American Reunion has been set for April 6, 2012. The new film will center on the high school reunion of the main characters from the first film with Jason Biggs, Seann William Scott, Alyson Hannigan, and Chris Klein all confirmed to return. Negotiations are currently ongoing with Thomas Ian Nicholas, Tara Reid, Mena Suvari, and Jennifer Coolidge. Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg (Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle) will write and direct with filming set to begin next month.
There’s currently no other film set for release on April 6, 2012. American Reunion is the first theatrically-released film in the franchise to not get a summer release date. [ComingSoon]

It looks like the upcoming American Pie sequel American Reunion may be a proper reunion after all. After some concern over whether or not the actress would sign on, Alyson Hannigan is set to reprise her role in the film alongside fellow original cast members Jason Biggs, Seann William Scott and Eugene Levy. Negotiations are also underway for Thomas Ian Nicholas, Tara Reid, Chris Klein, Mena Suvari, and Jennifer Coolidge to return as well. Deadline reports that Hannigan’s neogtiations took a while because she has a bit of leverage given that the plot of Reunion revolves around her marriage and child with Biggs’ character.
The franchise has been lingering in direct-to-DVD spinoffs ever since 2003’s American Wedding, but it appears the original cast is now up for one more go-around. Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg (Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle) are on board to write and direct the fourth installment of the franchise. Filming is set to begin next month. If you don’t mind potential spoilers, read our previous article with a breakdown of the possible plot for American Reunion.

Last week we reported that Jason Biggs, Seann William Scott, and Eugene Levy were on board for the new American Pie sequel, American Reunion. We also learned that negotiations were underway for original cast members Thomas Ian Nicholas, Tara Reid, Chris Klein, Mena Suvari, and Jennifer Coolidge to return. While we already knew that the plot would center on a high-school reunion (it used to be about the pie, man), new details have surfaced that highlight what the individual characters are up to. Hit the jump if you’ve laid awake at night wondering if Steve Stifler found happiness.

Last year, we reported that the American Pie franchise was getting a sequel/reboot, and that writer-directors Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg (Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle) were looking to bring back the cast from the original movie. Today, The Wrap is reporting that they have begun to succeed in that endeavor by signing Jason Biggs, Seann William Scott, and Eugene Levy. Negotiations are also underway with original cast members Thomas Ian Nicholas, Tara Reid, Chris Klein, Mena Suvari, and Jennifer Coolidge for the new film, which will be titled American Reunion. Apparently there is no love for Alyson Hannigan, Shannon Elizabeth, Eddie Kaye Thomas, and Natasha Lyonne, but with champions like Reid and Klein, who needs ‘em! The Wrap also reports that filming is set to begin on May 24th.
Presumably American Reunion will be followed by the sex comedies American Mid-Life Crisis, American Divorce, American Regret, American Nursing Home, and American Funeral. And once you reach American Funeral, the sex jokes write themselves.

Today was a good day for raunchy R-rated comedy franchises. First up, Risky Business reports that Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle creators Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg are coming on board to reboot Universal’s American Pie franchise with American Pie 4 (I can’t believe all those direct-to-DVD movies don’t count). It’s odd to call the film a “reboot” when not only they’re calling it American Pie 4, but Hurwitz and Schlossberg are seeking to reunite the cast. Risky Business says, “No deals have been made, but the strong interest on the actors’ end is one reason the project is in high gear.” Yes, it’s amazing how everyone in the cast except for Eugene Levy (who will do anything, apparently), Alyson Hannigan, and Seann William Scott, also has a languishing acting career and could use another jump start.
Hurwitz and Schlossberg were originally going to direct A Very Harold & Kumar Christmas, but they were lured away by the Pie franchise. Hit the jump for details about how Harold Lee and Kumar Patel are forging ahead without them.

With the success of the American Pie franchise in both theaters and on home video (American Pie, American Pie 2, American Wedding, American Pie Presents: Band Camp, The Naked Mile, Beta House, The Book of Love), it’s no surprise Universal is attempting to get the next American Pie into movie theaters. According to the LATimes, the studio is bringing in writers Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg (Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle) to script a new take, which is under the working title American Pie 4.
What isn’t clear is the specifics of the project. Are Hurwitz and Schlossberg writing it for Chuck, Stifler and the rest of the original American Pie cast to return? Or are they creating a new cast of characters that go to the same High School? With the amount of reboots and remakes made in Hollywood, I wouldn’t be surprised to see anything at this point.
According to the article, “at least some of the original cast is interested in coming back for the new picture, though sources emphasized that development is early and there are no actor deals in place.” Meaning, this thing is in the very early stages of development. More as we get it.
