AMC has released the first image from the upcoming fourth season of its incredibly popular drama series The Walking Dead.  Production began earlier this week in Atlanta on season four, and this image doesn’t tease much other than the fact that Andrew Lincoln’s Rick may or may not have a stalker.  Little is known about the upcoming season, but the show is now under the creative supervision of new showrunner Scott Gimple after Glen Mazzara was “let go” in the middle of season three.  After much buildup and promise, the third season finale was about as anticlimactic as you can get, so hopefully The Walking Dead is taken in a bit of a new direction this year.  David Morrissey is confirmed to return as The Governor, and Chad Coleman (Tyreese), Sonequa Martin-Green (Sasha), and Emily Kinney (Beth) have all been upped to series regular status.

Hit the jump to check out the image.  A firm date has yet to be announced, but expect the fourth season of The Walking Dead to begin sometime this fall—likely in October.

THE WALKING DEAD Season 3 Finale Recap: “Welcome to the Tombs”

The third season of AMC’s The Walking Dead has now come to its conclusion.  We started this season by watching as Rick and his followers fought their way into an infested prison which they promptly turned into a secure place to start a new life.  The prison was a central focus in the season finale but it has turned into a very different place.  We also lost a couple of characters in this last hour, though after suffering a season’s worth of emotional turmoil, it’s the survivors might actually be the worst off.

Starring Andrew Lincoln, David Morrissey, Chandler Riggs, Melissa McBride, Laurie Holden, Danai Gurira, Michael Rooker, Norman Reedus, Steven Yeun, Lauren Cohan, Scott Wilson, Dallas Roberts, Emily KinneyChad Coleman and Lew Temple, AMC’s The Walking Dead airs Sunday nights at 9.  Hit the jump for my review of the season three finale, “Welcome to the Tombs.”

THE WALKING DEAD Episode Recap: “This Sorrowful Life”

The penultimate episode of season three of AMC’s The Walking Dead is now behind us.  Along the way we’ve had to say goodbye to some near and dear characters and tonight’s episode was no different.  While it was still just a precursor to the all out war that is expected on next week’s finale, it still packed an emotional punch that managed to carry the story forward ever so slightly.  Blood has been spilt on both sides of the conflict; no one is safe, no one is certain to survive.

Starring Andrew Lincoln, David Morrissey, Chandler Riggs, Melissa McBride, Laurie Holden, Danai Gurira, Michael Rooker, Norman Reedus, Steven Yeun, Lauren Cohan, Scott Wilson, Dallas Roberts, Emily KinneyChad Coleman and Lew Temple, AMC’s The Walking Dead airs Sunday nights at 9.  Hit the jump for my review of “This Sorrowful Life.”

THE WALKING DEAD EPISODE Recap: “Prey”

Only two more episodes in season three of AMC’s The Walking Dead.  Tonight’s story felt like a retro horror movie at times but for the most part was a chore to slog through.  For fans who love Andrea (or just love to hate her), this episode was for you as the main crux of the plot centered on her and the mobilization of the forces at Woodbury.

Starring Andrew Lincoln, David Morrissey, Chandler Riggs, Melissa McBride, Laurie Holden, Danai Gurira, Michael Rooker, Norman Reedus, Steven Yeun, Lauren Cohan, Scott Wilson, Dallas Roberts, Emily KinneyChad Coleman and Lew Temple, AMC’s The Walking Dead airs Sunday nights at 9.  Hit the jump for my review of “Prey.”

THE WALKING DEAD Episode Recap: “Arrow on the Doorpost”

With only three episodes left in the third season of AMC’s The Walking Dead, we’ve unfortunately gotten to the point where everything is set up for a big showdown and now we’re just stalling for time.  Last week’s episode was a great example of how a well-written show can use that to its advantage and work in some exemplary character development.  This week’s episode?  Not so much.

Starring Andrew Lincoln, David Morrissey, Chandler Riggs, Melissa McBride, Laurie Holden, Danai Gurira, Michael Rooker, Norman Reedus, Steven Yeun, Lauren Cohan, Scott Wilson, Dallas Roberts, Emily KinneyChad Coleman and Lew Temple, AMC’s The Walking Dead airs Sunday nights at 9.  Hit the jump for my review of “Arrow on the Doorpost.”

Last week’s episode of AMC’s The Walking Dead was a bit on the dull side, but tonight’s ep really made up for it!  New locations to experience, interesting relationships to explore and even a surprise reunion.  While it wasn’t the most action-packed of episodes, there was just something about tonight’s hour that took the franchise to a whole new level.

Starring Andrew Lincoln, David Morrissey, Chandler Riggs, Melissa McBride, Laurie Holden, Danai Gurira, Michael Rooker, Norman Reedus, Steven Yeun, Lauren Cohan, Scott Wilson, Dallas Roberts, Emily KinneyChad Coleman and Lew Temple, AMC’s The Walking Dead airs Sunday nights at 9.  Hit the jump for my review of “Clear.”

Over the past 30 years, PaleyFest has held panel sessions and screenings that connect the worldwide community of television fans with the casts and creators of their favorite TV shows.  Kicking things off this year were the folks behind The Walking Dead, which is currently one of the most popular drama series on television, and Collider was invited to be on the press line and speak to some of the talent responsible for pushing the boundaries of storytelling.

While there, we briefly got the opportunity to speak with executive producers Robert Kirkman (who created the comic the series is based on), David Alpert and Greg Nicotero (who is also responsible for all of the zombie gore), as well as cast members Andrew Lincoln, Norman Reedus, Steven Yeun, Scott Wilson and Emily Kinney.  The actors shared their thoughts on the journeys their characters have gone on and where they’re headed, and the creative team gave some insight about wrapping up Season 3, the pressure of topping the previous season’s finale, looking ahead to Season 4 (which starts shooting in May), creating new and exciting zombie kills, and how they cast for the walkers.  Check out what they had to say after the jump, and be aware that there are some spoilers.

THE WALKING DEAD Episode Recap: “I Ain’t a Judas”

After the crazy ending of last week’s episode of AMC’s The Walking Dead, I fully expected the toned down hour of television we got tonight.  There were a few minor surprises here and there with a little bit of classical practical effects work thrown in for good measure.  Tonight’s episode was all about setting the stage and the players for the inevitable conflict between the two groups of survivors. Only five episodes left!

Starring Andrew Lincoln, David Morrissey, Chandler Riggs, Melissa McBride, Laurie Holden, Danai Gurira, Michael Rooker, Norman Reedus, Steven Yeun, Lauren Cohan, Scott Wilson, Dallas Roberts, Emily KinneyChad Coleman and Lew Temple, AMC’s The Walking Dead airs Sunday nights at 9.  Hit the jump for my review of “I Ain’t a Judas.”

THE WALKING DEAD Episode Recap: “Home”

I may have been a little overzealous in rating last week’s episode of AMC’s The Walking Dead.  Even though it pulled in a ridiculous number of viewers, there were some clunky moments and some odd character behavior written into the episode, one which lacked the cohesiveness and punch necessary for a mid-season return.  I’m happy to say it picked back up this week with great character building, two solid action sequences and even a surprise character death, but that wasn’t the biggest surprise by a long shot!

Starring Andrew Lincoln, David Morrissey, Chandler Riggs, Melissa McBride, Laurie Holden, Danai Gurira, Michael Rooker, Norman Reedus, Steven Yeun, Lauren Cohan, Scott Wilson, Dallas Roberts, Emily KinneyChad Coleman and Lew Temple, AMC’s The Walking Dead airs Sunday nights at 9.  Hit the jump for my review of “Home.”

THE WALKING DEAD Episode Recap: “The Suicide King”

AMC’s The Walking Dead came back fighting tonight with an opening that pit brother against brother in a gladiatorial battle of the Dixons.  It looks like fans finally got an answer to the question of what would happen when Merle and Daryl were reunited and it was anything but what I expected.  Things are starting to unravel in Woodbury as well as back at the prison, but it wasn’t all dreary: tonight’s episode even featured a quick undead cameo from former Super Bowl MVP Hines Ward!

Starring Andrew Lincoln, David Morrissey, Chandler Riggs, Melissa McBride, Laurie Holden, Danai Gurira, Michael Rooker, Norman Reedus, Steven Yeun, Lauren Cohan, Scott Wilson, Dallas Roberts, Emily Kinney, Chad Coleman and Lew Temple, AMC’s The Walking Dead airs Sunday nights at 9.  Hit the jump for my review of “The Suicide King.”

With The Walking Dead returning for the remainder of its third season, the Academy of Television hosted an evening to celebrate the cast and creative team, and the huge success of the popular drama series, while giving a glimpse into what fans can expect as the story continues.  Collider was there to cover and attend the event, and we’ve compiled the highlights of what the cast had to say during the Q&A.

During the discussion, the actors talked about how difficult it is to constantly lose actors on the show, how comfort is the most dangerous thing for these people in this world, that the humans in this world are scarier than the zombies, their favorite moments this season, which character they would love to resurrect from the dead, whether Rick (Andrew Lincoln) will have another breakdown, Andrea’s (Laurie Holden) bad choices in men, what Maggie (Lauren Cohan) and Glenn (Steven Yeun) might do without each other, what might develop between Daryl (Norman Reedus) and Carol (Melissa McBride), the Governor’s (David Morrissey) state of mind now, where Michonne’s (Danai Gurira) loyalty lies, and what they’re looking forward to in the remaining episodes this season.  Check out what they had to say after the jump.

AMC’s The Walking Dead will return for the second half of its third season this Sunday, February 10th at 9PM ET.  If you can’t wait that long, we have a few new images from the second half of the season and a sneak peek at the upcoming episode.  At the end of the mid-season finale, the conflict between Rick’s group and the Governor’s followers came to a head, while Daryl and Merle were reunited in a most unfortunate way.  It’s safe to say that not everyone will survive this season, but just who gets left behind remains to be seen.

THE WALKING DEAD Mid-Season Finale Recap: “Made to Suffer,” Plus a Sneak Peek of the Next Episode

the-walking-dead-season-3-slice

The good news is that AMC’s The Walking Dead closed out 2012 with another fantastic episode; the bad news is that they won’t return until February 10, 2013. The mid-season finale didn’t leave us with a bombshell of a cliffhanger exactly (ie it was no hatch in the middle of the island), but rather an anticipatory ending which will give fans plenty to talk about and argue over for the next month or so. The episode also happened to feature the introduction of a fan-favorite character from the comics and a brief cameo from the show’s former cast member.

Starring Andrew Lincoln, David Morrissey, Chandler Riggs, Melissa McBride, Laurie Holden, Danai Gurira, Michael Rooker, Norman Reedus, Steven Yeun, Lauren Cohan, Scott Wilson, Dallas Roberts and Emily Kinney, AMC’s The Walking Dead airs Sunday nights at 9.  Hit the jump for my review of “Made to Suffer.”
