THE WALKING DEAD Season 5 Poster: Hunt or Be Hunted

AMC has released the first official The Walking Dead Season 5 poster, which boasts the ominous tagline “Hunt or Be Hunted.”  Given that this new season may or may not feature a showdown between Rick’s (Andrew Lincoln) gang and a group of people that may or may not be cannibals, the moniker seems appropriate.  Despite the fact that The Walking Dead airs on a cable network, it stands as the most watched drama series on all of television in the coveted 18-49 demo, which is kind of a big deal.  While the actual quality of the show varies depending on who you talk to, there’s no denying that a lot of people are watching.  Will the ratings rise continue in Season 5 or will the series finally plateau?

Hit the jump to take a look at the Walking Dead Season 5 poster, and click here to peruse a gallery of teaser trailers and images from the new season.  The series also stars Norman Reedus, Steven Yeun, Lauren Cohan, Chandler Riggs, Danai Gurira, Melissa McBride, Michael Cudlitz, Emily Kinney, Chad L. Coleman, Sonequa-Martin Green, and Lawrence Gilliard Jr.  The Walking Dead Season 5 premieres on AMC Sunday, October 12th at 9pm ET/PT.

THE WALKING DEAD Season 5 Teaser Trailers and Images Highlight Monsters Both Living and Dead

Halloween is just around the corner, which means a new season of The Walking Dead is upon us.  While the show has gone through a number of creative changes behind the scenes, it appears that current showrunner Scott M. Gimple is poised to eclipse original showrunner Frank Darabont’s length of time in that position (assuming he makes it through Season 5 unscathed), as Gimple has held the role since he took over at the beginning of Season 4.  With a new batch of episodes on the horizon, AMC has unveiled a couple of The Walking Dead Season 5 teaser trailers as well as some high-resolution images to tide fans over until the show returns.  I bailed on the series midway through Season 3, but it remains one of the highest rated dramas across all networks and TWD fandom is as intense as ever, so I imagine these new teasers and images will be of interest to many.

Take a look at the new The Walking Dead teaser trailers and images after the jump.  The Walking Dead Season 5 premieres on AMC October 12th.

THE WALKING DEAD Season 5 Trailer and Comic-Con Panel Recap: Cast and Producers Tease “Spectacular Scope”

With Breaking Bad over and the second half of Mad Men’s final season poised to wrap up next spring, AMC has struggled a bit to find original programming to match its early successes.  That said, one new show hit really, really, really big.  Entering its fifth season this fall, The Walking Dead is not only a ratings juggernaut on cable television, it also gives network favorites like The Big Bang Theory a run for their money in terms of viewership.  Despite a sort of revolving door of showrunners and behind-the-scenes skirmishes, the ratings have continued to grow and its commercial popularity remains higher than ever.  With a spinoff series in the works as well, The Walking Dead franchise is likely to keep AMC afloat for quite some time.

As they do every year, much of The Walking Dead cast (yes, even Norman Reedus) and executive producers Scott M. GimpleRobert KirkmanGale Anne HurdDave Alpert, and Greg Nicotero made the journey to Comic-Con earlier this Friday to preview the upcoming season and reveal the first trailer.  Watch the first The Walking Dead season 5 trailer after the jump, along with my full Comic-Con panel recap. The series returns on Sunday, October 12th on AMC.

A new season of The Walking Dead will debut later this year, but in order to tide fans over for the next few months, AMC has released the first The Walking Dead season 5 image from the in-production series.  The network does this every year, and each image is usually a benign tease rather than anything substantial, but it’s a nice “heads-up” for the fans that new episodes are coming.  What’s interesting about season five is that this will be the first time since the gap between season one and season two that the same showrunner has guided an entire season and is now developing and planning the next one.  Of course Frank Darabont didn’t last long through season two before being pushed out, but current showrunner Scott Gimple looks to be sticking around for the time being.

Hit the jump to check out the first image from The Walking Dead’s fifth season, and stay tuned to Collider during Comic-Con this July for more significant updates on the new season, likely including the first trailer.  The Walking Dead returns to AMC this October.

On tonight’s episode of AMC’s The Walking Dead, viewers got to meet a few new faces.  Some were well-intentioned while others were nothing of the sort, and all of them came in varying shades of intelligence.  More intriguing than even the new character additions, however, was a bit of intel as to the state of the post-apocalyptic world and, if the newcomers can be believed, the plan to set things right once more.  Hit the jump for my recap and review, unless you’re all amped-up and have an ignorance of rapid-firing weapons.

The mid-season premiere of AMC’s The Walking Dead made good on the season four poster’s warning: Don’t Look Back. After the devastating events at the end of the mid-season finale, Rick’s group of survivors has been scattered to the wind. After a brief glimpse of the aftermath at the prison, this episode – aptly titled “After” – focused on the paths of two sets of survivors, providing plenty of catharsis along the way.  Hit the jump for my review and to find out why “I’d be fine if you died.”

With The Walking Dead returning to AMC for its fourth season, Collider was invited to cover the premiere and catch some time with the cast and executive producers to find out what’s in store.  In the new season, Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and the group of survivors thriving in the safe haven of the prison quickly find out that happiness is short-lived, as walkers and outside threats are no match for the danger brewing inside the fences.  The group’s home and new way of life will be thoroughly tested, and their struggle to survive has never been at such rusk.  The 16-episode season will air in two-parts, with the first eight episodes kicking off on October 13th, and the second eight episodes returning in February 2014.

While talking on the red carpet on their way into the Season 4 premiere screening, actor Andrew Lincoln (“Rick Grimes”) talked about what Rick Grimes’ state of mind is now, how he’s trying to handle things differently with his son Carl (Chandler Riggs), the most physically challenging stuff he’s had to do so far this season, how Rick feels about Michonne (Danai Gurira), and who his allies are now, while actress Sonequa Martin-Green (“Sasha”) talked about getting to work on both The Walking Dead and Once Upon A Time, kicking some more ass this season, facing surprising and unexpected threats, and how much she enjoys getting grimy on the show.  Check out what they had to say after the jump, and be aware that there are some spoilers

AMC has released a new production video for the upcoming fourth season of the immensely popular drama series The Walking Dead.  The clip goes behind-the-scenes of the filming of the new season’s first episode, as we see nearly all of the cast members talk on camera about where we find their characters when the show returns.  Andrew Lincoln confirms there will be another time jump, as we will have skipped over winter and gone right to summer once again—a necessity borne out of the fact that the show shoots in Atlanta during the summertime.  The group is working to make the prison more of a home, and in keeping with that effort Rick takes up farming.

One of the most popular shows on all of television returns this fall with the fourth season of AMC’s The Walking Dead, and fans are eager to see where the series picks up following some pretty bleak events towards the end of last season. We’ve seen a few teaser images of season four previously, but little has been revealed about where the story might go in the new episodes. However, during today’s The Walking Dead panel in Hall H, we got a much better idea of what to expect from the show’s producers and cast, and we also got a look at an extended trailer for season four. The cast discussed how frequently people die on the show, where we find Rick, The Governor, Glen, and more in the new season, how last season’s events have impacted the group, and more.

Additionally, it was revealed that season four of The Walking Dead will premiere on AMC on October 13th. Hit the jump to read my full recap of the Comic-Con panel and to see the newly-released trailer.

New Comic-Con Poster for THE WALKING DEAD Season 4; Panelists Announced [UPDATED]

by     Posted 1 year, 108 days ago

One of the best Hall H panels I saw at Comic-Con last year was for The Walking Dead.  While the show isn’t without its problems, the series’ Hall H panel was filled with intelligent, candid, and often humorous answers from the cast (it helps when Chris Hardwick is your moderator) and they also debuted the stellar first trailer for season three.  The AMC series is returning once again to SDCC this year, and the network has released a new Comic-Con banner for the upcoming fourth season of the show.  The new season will see yet another new showrunner take the reins, and I’m interested to see how the series will move forward given the events of last season’s finale.  For now, though, I’m hopeful that this year’s Comic-Con panel will prove to be just as entertaining as last year’s.

Hit the jump to take a look at the poster, and check back here for our full recap of the show’s panel during Comic-Con.  SDCC 2013 runs from July 18th – 21st.  The Walking Dead season four will premiere on AMC this October. [Update: AMC has revealed which castmembers will be taking part in the Comic-Con panel on Friday, July 19th. More after the jump.]

First Image from THE WALKING DEAD Season 4

the-walking-dead-season-4-image-slice

AMC has released the first image from the upcoming fourth season of its incredibly popular drama series The Walking Dead.  Production began earlier this week in Atlanta on season four, and this image doesn’t tease much other than the fact that Andrew Lincoln’s Rick may or may not have a stalker.  Little is known about the upcoming season, but the show is now under the creative supervision of new showrunner Scott Gimple after Glen Mazzara was “let go” in the middle of season three.  After much buildup and promise, the third season finale was about as anticlimactic as you can get, so hopefully The Walking Dead is taken in a bit of a new direction this year.  David Morrissey is confirmed to return as The Governor, and Chad Coleman (Tyreese), Sonequa Martin-Green (Sasha), and Emily Kinney (Beth) have all been upped to series regular status.

Hit the jump to check out the image.  A firm date has yet to be announced, but expect the fourth season of The Walking Dead to begin sometime this fall—likely in October.
