After the unexpected trailer release this week, we sort of got the idea of what Avengers: Age of Ultron would look like.  But what we didn’t get was a super clear image of Ultron’s final design in the film (most of the footage of him appears to center on his incomplete form).  But now some concept art has hit that rectifies that issue.  In the film, Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), Captain America (Chris Evans), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), and Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) reunite to stop Ultron (James Spader) “from enacting his terrible plans, and soon uneasy alliances and unexpected action pave the way for an epic and unique global adventure.”

Elizabeth Olsen, Aaron Taylor-JohnsonPaul BettanyDon CheadleAndy Serkis, and Samuel L. Jackson also star in the sequel directed by Joss Whedon.  Avengers: Age of Ultron opens May 1, 2015.  Check out the concept art after the jump.  I’d consider this a light spoiler

The first Avengers: Age of Ultron image has now landed online…officially.  Yes, onlookers previously snapped shots of Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Elizabeth Olsen filming an action sequence from the Marvel sequel a few weeks ago, and we’ve recently seen a few videos featuring Captain America, but today the first official image from the set has arrived courtesy of the one and only Robert Downey Jr.  The actor started up a Twitter account recently, and today he took the opportunity to provide a “sneak peek” at Avengers: Age of Ultron with a snapshot that also includes executive producer Jeremy Latcham.  There’s not really much to see, as both are wearing reflective vests likely due to the hazardous nature of the scene that was being filmed, but it serves as a fun “heads up” that the actor might be regularly sharing images from the Avengers 2 set.

Hit the jump to check out the set image.  Written and directed by Joss Whedon, the film also stars Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Jeremy Renner, James Spader, Paul Bettany, and Thomas KretschmannAvengers: Age of Ultron opens in theaters on May 1, 2015.

AVENGERS 2 and DISTRICT 9 Sequel Updates from Directors Joss Whedon and Neill Blomkamp

With Joss Whedon’s Firefly reunion panel being one of the most well-received Comic-Con events in recent memory, some of the director’s other works may have been overshadowed for a moment.  It takes quite a bit to drown out The Avengers, so a perfect question for Whedon would be to ask about the status of The Avengers 2 and whether or not he’ll be back for the sequel.  More on that after the jump.

Another visionary director in the person of Neill Blomkamp (District 9) was on hand at Comic-Con today to showcase his current project, Elysium.  While we’ll have more on the Matt Damon-starrer in a bit, Blomkamp did comment on his upcoming projects, including a sequel to District 9.  Hit the jump to read more about what’s next from Whedon and Blomkamp and be sure to stay up to date with our continuing Comic-Con coverage here.
