After the epic Marvel panel this past Saturday at the San Diego Comic-Con, Steve was able to speak with several cast members of the upcoming Avengers: Age of UltronChris Hemsworth is one of the more integral performers in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, anchoring the Thor franchise and playing a key role in the Avengers, so naturally he was on the list.

After the footage from Avengers: Age of Ultron brought the house down (by all accounts) in Hall H, Steve caught up with Hemsworth to talk about the film’s balance of action with writer/director Joss Whedon’s patented banter.  He also addresses Ultron’s impact on the story, what it’s like having Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch in the fold and when he’s shooting Thor 3.  Hit the jump for our Comic-Con interview with Chris Hemsworth.

Shortly after the Avengers: Age of Ultron cast left Hall H at Comic-Con Saturday night, I got to conduct video interviews with most of them in the press room.  While the interviews had to be conducted in groups due to how many reporters were in attendance, we still managed to get a lot of great information from the cast.  You can watch my Paul Rudd and Mark Ruffalo interviews by clicking the links.

During the interview with Chris Evans, he talked about the process of making Avengers: Age of Ultron, the great Joss Whedon dialogue, if they’re going to address where the other Avengers were during their stand-alone movies, if he had one Avenger to help him out in Snowpiercer who would he pick, and more.  Hit the jump to watch what Chris Evans had to say at Comic-Con.

AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON Prop Images – Marvel Unveils First Look at Ultron, Cap’s Broken Shield, Hulkbuster Armor, and Black Widow’s New Ride

This year’s Comic-Con was chock-full of peeks at upcoming films and TV shows, but one of the highlights was seeing the first footage from Avengers: Age of Ultron.  The film looks to be quite ambitious in nature, especially when it comes to the villain Ultron, played via motion capture by James Spader.  While it will be a while before the general public gets to see any footage from Joss Whedon’s sequel, Marvel unveiled some props at its Comic-Con booth, offering the first look at Ultron Mark 1, Cap’s broken shield (ominously alluded to in the footage), a piece of the Hulkbuster Iron Man armor, and Black Widow’s new ride.  All of these played a significant role in the teaser footage we saw from the film.

Take a look at the Avengers: Age of Ultron prop images after the jump, but for full context with regards to how they fit into the movie, be sure to read Matt’s extensive panel recapAvengers: Age of Ultron opens in theaters on May 1, 2015.

Shortly after Mark Ruffalo and his Avengers: Age of Ultron co-stars left Hall H at Comic-Con (read our recap of the panel here), they participated in video interviews on a very crowded press line.   When Ruffalo finally got to the group I was paired with, he talked about what impressed him about Joss Whedon’s Avengers: Age of Ultron script,  the ambition of the sequel, meeting the expectations, his thoughts on a Planet Hulk movie, and the status of Columbo.  If you’re not familiar with the online campaign to have Ruffalo play Columbo, read about it here before watching the interview.

As you can tell by the absolutely massive amount of Comic-Con content on the site at the moment, it’s been a whirlwind last few days here in San Diego at Comic-Con 2014.  The festivities are winding down, and while we still have a fair amount of SDCC content yet to post, this Sunday we thought we’d bring the large majority of people that were unable to attend the convention a little closer to arguably the biggest panel of the convention: Marvel.  This year, Marvel Studios showcased Avengers: Age of Ultron and Ant-Man during its Saturday night Hall H panel, and while the lack of surprises made the proceedings a tad underwhelming, it was nevertheless an entertaining affair.  If you haven’t already, be sure to read our full Avengers: Age of Ultron panel recap and Ant-Man panel recap.

After the jump, you’ll find __ Marvel Comic-Con images from both panels, featuring Robert Downey Jr., Paul Rudd, Chris Evans, Elizabeth Olsen, Michael Douglas, Chris Hemsworth, Evangeline Lilly, Samuel L. Jackson, Corey Stoll, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Jeremy Renner, Cobie Smulders, Mark Ruffalo, Paul Bettany, James Spader, director Peyton Reed, and Thanos himself Josh Brolin

Paul Bettany Talks AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON, The Vision, His Powers and Abilities, His Relationship to The Avengers, and More

paul-bettany-avengers-age-of-ultron-interview

I never thought I’d see one actor play two characters within the cinematic Marvel universe, but if anyone can do it, Paul Bettany can.  As the voice of J.A.R.V.I.S., Tony Stark’s constant AI companion since the first Iron Man film, Bettany is one of the longest standing members of the Marvel crew.  In Avengers: Age of Ultron Bettany steps into the shoes (or cape) of the Vision.  A newly created android who is somehow maybe sort of related to J.A.R.V.I.S. – unsurprisingly they weren’t telling us a whole lot in advance of Marvel’s Hall H panel.

Earlier today at Comic-Con I sat down for a group interview with Bettany about the Vision Age of Ultron.  He walked up to the table, pretending to read a message on his phone intently, “I’m just looking up something.  Yep, I can’t say anything.”  And while he remained pretty tight-lipped, dodging many questions with clever quips, he did talk about Joss Whedon’s passion for all things Marvel, James Spader’s Ultron, Vision’s abilities and powers, his relationship with the Avengers, his genitals (seriously), and more.  Check out what he had to say after the jump.

Under Kevin Feige‘s guidance the Marvel Cinematic Universe has blossomed into the one of the most popular, well-loved, and financially successful set of films ever produced.  He’s an undeniable force in the industry who clearly understands what fans want to see.  Earlier today, before hitting the stage for Marvel’s Hall H panel, I had the opportunity to sit down for a group interview with Feige.  He talked about the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Ant-Man, Guardians of the Galaxy, the possibility of Netflix/MCU crossover, plans for Thanos, actor contracts, releasing more movies per year, and a lot more.  Check out what he had to say after the jump.

AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON Comic-Con Panel Recap; New Footage “Got No Strings” but Plenty of Action

avengers-age-of-ultron-comic-con-panel-recap

This was the one.  There had been good panels on Saturday, but Marvel is always the one that drives people crazy.  They know how to put on a show.  People were hungry for this panel.  It was supposed to start at 5:30pm and when it started getting later, people were chanting, clapping, and at one point even attempted to do the wave (they failed miserably at that last one) as a way to pass the time and keep up energy until the panel.  There was a ridiculous amount of good will in this room, and eagerness for news.  At the very least, they would be getting some sweet, sweet new footage from one of 2015’s biggest films.  And yet that turned out not to be enough as the studio’s Comic-Con marketing backfired.

New AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON Posters Pit Black Widow and Captain America Against an Army of Robots

Yesterday, Marvel revealed two new pieces of concept art from writer/director Joss Whedon’s Avengers sequel that gave us a look at Iron Man and Scarlet Witch doing battle against an Ultron army.  It appears that the two pieces are actually part of a larger banner, as today’s new Avengers: Age of Ultron poster shows Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow fighting off some Ultrons as well, with tiny glimpses of Thor’s hammer and Hulk’s big green hand at the edges.  I imagine Marvel will be releasing the rest of these individual posters over the next few days, leading up to the full banner reveal on Saturday in anticipation of the film’s Hall H panel at Comic-Con.

Hit the jump to take a look at today’s new poster, and check back on Saturday for our full panel recap.  Avengers: Age of Ultron also stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Elizabeth Olsen, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Mark Ruffalo, Jeremy Renner, James Spader, Paul Bettany, and Don Cheadle.  The film opens in theaters on May 1, 2015. [Update: We've added a Captain America poster as well.]

Robert Downey Jr. Hints at Return for IRON MAN 4

by     Posted 8 days ago

iron-man-4-robert-downey-jr

I’ve never really expected an Iron Man 4, however naive that may seem.  I really, really liked Iron Man 3.  So far, having not yet seen Guardians of the Galaxy, it’s my favorite film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.  And I had always sort of taken the hint that it was the final Iron Man installment for Robert Downey Jr.  It wrapped up his version of Tony Stark’s arc in a way that felt complete to me.  Also, anyone who’s paying attention knows that, exempting his appearance in Avengers: Age Of Ultron, he might be getting too expensive for Marvel.  Blockbuster dealmaking is a complicated game and once an actor is branded with a successful role it gets extremely expensive to keep them onboard after their initial contract expires.

But Robert Downey Jr. isn’t wiping his hands of a potential Iron Man 4 just yet.  Despite Gwyneth Paltrow’s prognostication that a 4th film isn’t in the cards (and Downey himself seeming noncommittal over a year ago), there still might be another go-around for Marvel and the original Tony Stark.  Hit the jump for more on the potential for Robert Downey Jr. returning to Iron Man 4.

With director James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy opening August 1st, over the weekend, Marvel and Disney held a huge press junket here in Los Angeles.  While I’ll be posting my video interviews with the cast next week, I wanted to share my exclusive interview with Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige today.  During our wide-ranging conversation he talked about making Guardians of the Galaxy, how much of the film was planned before James Gunn signed on, the great soundtrack, deleted scenes, whether we could see an extended cut in theaters before the Blu-ray release, and more.

In addition, we also talked about casting Josh Brolin as Thanos and if he signed a multi-picture deal, why they didn’t show the post-credits scene at the press screenings, the untitled Marvel movies being released through 2019, the studio’s Comic-Con plans, the fact that Marvel knows who will be playing Doctor Strange but the contract isn’t signed yet (if the person does sign by Comic-Con he’ll be announced on Saturday), the status of Thor 3 and Captain America 3, the chances Robert Downey Jr. returning for Iron Man 4, and more.  Hit the jump for the interview and click here to read some going tweets about Guardians of the Galaxy.
