If you are looking for an impressive young cast on an upcoming indie film, I’ve got the flick for you. Director Danny Mooney is developing the Vietnam-era love story AWOL and has already amassed an impressive list of up-and-comers. Liam Hemsworth (The Last Song), Teresa Palmer (I Am Number Four), Austin Stowell (Puncture), and Aimee Teegarden (Scream 4) are all set to star in Mooney’s directorial debut. Now, according to Variety, Wyatt Russell will be joining them. Russell, who can be seen in the upcoming Cowboys and Aliens, is also set to appear in Judd Apatow’s upcoming but as-of-yet untitled film.

Liam Hemsworth, who is currently filming The Hunger Games, has signed on for the Vietnam-era indie flick, AWOL. Currently, Teresa Palmer (I Am Number Four), Austin Stowell (Puncture) and Aimee Teegarden (Scream 4) are in negotiations, while Chris Lowell (Up in the Air) and Max Adler (Glee) are in talks to co-star in the pic as well. Hemsworth will star as the best friend and comrade-in-arms to Stowell, whose stateside girlfriend (Teegarden) dumps him. Together, they go AWOL and return to their Michigan hometown to win her back. Sounding like less of a war movie and more of a wartime love story, AWOL is set amidst the anti-war counterculture movement at the University of Michigan. Danny Mooney’s directorial debut is slated to start production in Ann Arbor in mid-July. Hit the jump for more info on the principal actors’ upcoming projects.
