For those who can’t wait for David O. Russell‘s follow-up to Silver Linings Playbook, American Hustle opens on December 20. To whet your appetite, Sony has provided us with four clips and eight minutes of behind-the-scenes footage. The script by Russell and Eric Singer is based on the Abscam sting operation of the late 1970s. A con artist team (Christian Bale and Amy Adams) work with an FBI agent (Bradley Cooper) to root out political corruption. Jennifer Lawrence and Jeremy Renner also star.
American Hustle already won its first Best Picture critics’ award and the Oscar buzz is building, so it’s time to get excited. Hit the jump to watch the clips and behind-the-scenes footage.
With director Peter Jackson’s second film in his The Hobbit trilogy, The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, opening in a week, Warner Bros. has provided us with five clips and fourteen minutes of behind-the-scenes footage. The film continues the adventures of Bilbo (Martin Freeman) and the band of dwarves as they move forward on their quest to reclaim the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor, all the while Gandalf (Ian McKellen) investigates a disturbing presence that may be returning to Middle Earth. Smaug introduces a host of new characters like Bard (Luke Evans), the Master of Lake-town (Stephen Fry), and the elves Thranduil (Lee Pace) and Tauriel (Evangeline Lily), but the film also sees the return of Lord of the Rings favorite Legolas (Orlando Bloom). Moreover, Benedict Cumberbatch brings to life the dragon Smaug and he delivers a great performance.
I saw a screening a few days ago and am happy to report it’s fantastic. The film is almost non-stop action and I think the people that had issues with first film are going to love this one. In addition, the film features some unbelievable set pieces, with one sequence causing my theater to erupt in applause when it ended. Get ready for a great ride that you should definitely see in 3D. With Guillermo del Toro’s Pacific Rim opening July 12, Warner Bros. has provided us with some awesome behind-the-scenes footage from the making of the film. If you’re a fan of del Toro, you’ll be able to see him directing the cast, as well as hear his trademark laugh when he likes what he sees. In addition, you can watch Charlie Hunnam, Idris Elba, Rinko Kikuchi, Charlie Day, and Ron Perlman film a few scenes on some massive practical sets. But while everything I mentioned is cool, without a doubt, the best part of the footage is being able to see the the giant robots (known as Jaegers) come to life. Unlike some films that have the actors stand on green screen so the scene can be built in a computer, del Toro build massive sets to house the control room of the Jaegers and they really are a site to behold. Trust me, Pacific Rim is going to wow you in so many ways and this footage is just the tip of the iceberg. Hit the jump to check out the footage.

If I know our readers, you want to see as much of you can of Iron Man 3. You are in luck: Marvel has released six minutes of behind-the-scenes footage from the superhero sequel. It is nice to see Robert Downey Jr. play with all the different suits (although there is a notable amount of plainclothes action) and do some of his own stunts. But for me the big revelation is that Tony Stark appears to spend a good deal of bonding time with a young kid (Ty Simpkins).
Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Guy Pearce, Rebecca Hall, Stephanie Szostak, James Badge Dale, Jon Favreau, and Ben Kingsley co-star. Directed by Shane Black (Kiss Kiss Bang Bang), Iron Man 3 opens May 3. Watch the B-roll after the break.

You can also see Ryan Reynolds pretending to fly, tons of stunt work, and plenty of Blake Lively and Peter Sarsgaard. Again, it’s some great footage. Hit the jump to check it out. However, if you’re curious how a movie is made, or what it was like on the set, the footage is great.
As I said a few days ago after I saw the movie, X-Men: First Class is a huge home-run. Everything from the great script to the awesome performances by the entire cast (with special mention to James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender) makes this X-Men film my favorite in the franchise. Also, the film is loaded with incredible action and a ton of Easter Eggs for the fans. Even the sets and costumes are great. Trust me, as soon as the movie is over, you’re going to wish the next chapter was coming out next week. Hit the jump to check out the footage.
