As someone that has been attending San Diego Comic-Con/Sci-Fi/Star Trek/Star Wars/Comic Book conventions for almost my entire teenage and adult life, this year’s New York Comic-Con blew me for one reason: I’ve never seen so many people Cosplay in one place. While conventions always get a few people dressing up, NYCC absolutely set a new record for percentage of attendees willing to cosplay. I was very impressed.
Over the last four days, as I walked up and down the convention floor, I always had my camera ready to go. So if you’re a fan of cosplay and want to check out some great costumes including Batman, Bane, Spider-Man, Captain Planet, Doctor Who, Megatron, Admiral Ackbar, Two-Face, Terminator, Ghost Rider, and so many more, hit the jump for almost 200 images.

It’s beginning to feel like the release of The Dark Knight Rises should be some sort of national holiday. Nearly every other conversation, news item, or Tweet seems to be in reference to Christopher Nolan’s third and final Batman pic, and now we’ve got one more TDKR-related piece of material to add to the pile. Hot Toys has released images of their Bane and Camouflage Tumbler collectibles which are now available for pre-order on Sideshow Collectibles, and they’re pretty darn neat. Both collectibles are 1/6 scale, with the Bane figure coming with the mask, detailed costume, and accesaries including a broken Batman mask. It goes without saying that the Camouflage Tumbler and Bane figures go hand-in-hand.

When Christopher Nolan first announced Bane as the villain of The Dark Knight Rises, many were nervous that whoever would take the role wouldn’t be able to come close to Heath Ledger‘s amazing performance as the Joker in The Dark Knight. However, last August on the set of The Dark Knight Rises, I watched Tom Hardy as Bane walk onto Heinz Field in Pittsburgh and completely own the place. It was during that hot and humid afternoon that I realized Bane was going to be a kick ass villain.
During a break between filming, I participated in a group interview with Hardy on set. While he was very guarded about revealing too many secrets, he did talk to us about the costume, Bane’s mask, if he has more respect for Darth Vader now, Bane’s physicality, whether he had any apprehension about following Heath Ledger‘s Joker, what he learned working on Star Trek: Nemesis, and more. Hit the jump to either read or listen to the interview.

In early August of last year, I got to visit the set of Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises in Pittsburgh. I’ve waited a long time to write those words. At the time of the visit, the embargo/NDA was so severe that Warner Bros. wouldn’t allow us to tweet or post on Facebook that we were even flying into the city! But with Christopher Nolan’s final Batman film hitting theaters July 20th, the studio has been amping up their promotional campaign, and they’re finally allowing the sites that were on set to say we were there. In addition, they’ve provided us with four awesome billboards/posters that feature Bane, Catwoman, and Batman. Hit the jump to check them out and to learn more about my set visit.

While walking around WonderCon this afternoon at the Anaheim Convention Center, I was able to snap a number of new Dark Knight Rises products. Some of the items you could buy today (one of the t-shirts), but most of products won’t be available until this summer when the movie gets released. If you’re curious about the many ways Warner Bros. will try to get your money, you can look forward to Bane Converse All Stars, t-shirts, hats, and a Dark Knight Rises wallet. Of course what was on display at WonderCon is just the tip of the iceberg. I’m sure by the time Comic-Con roles around this summer, the amount of product hitting store shelves will be resemble what Star Wars did in the ’70s and ’80s. I’m also sure I’ll be buying a lot of it.
Hit the jump to check out what I snapped today and keep checking back as a few of us are here at WonderCon and we’ll be covering all the panels and doing a number of exclusive interviews.

With director Joe Carnahan’s (Narc, Smokin’ Aces, and The A-Team) awesome survival-action flick The Grey opening this weekend, I recently got the chance to talk with the cast. Starring Liam Neeson, Dallas Roberts, James Badge Dale, Dermot Mulroney, Frank Grillo, Nonso Anozie, and Joe Anderson, The Grey is about a group of oilmen who have crash landed in the hunting zone of a rogue pack of wolves in the Alaskan tundra. If you’re a fan of the cast, Carnahan, or just well made movies, The Grey will not disappoint.
During my interview with Neeson we talked about the challenges of making the film, how he got involved in the project, how many takes he likes to do, and which movie more people want to talk about when the meet him: Love Actually, Batman Begins or Star Wars. In addition Neeson we talked about how filming on Taken 2 has been going, and if they feel any pressure after the first film was both a commercial and critical hit. Hit the jump to watch.

Warner Bros. has released a few new images from director Christopher Nolan‘s The Dark Knight Rises that feature Tom Hardy as Bane, Batman and a new weapon, and Nolan with an IMAX camera. While some of the images were already featured in this month’s Empire magazine, this is our first look at high resolution versions, and the image of Nolan with the IMAX camera is new.
Like most of you, I’m beyond excited for the final Nolan Batman movie and ecstatic that between 40 and 50 minutes will be in IMAX. If you have the opportunity to see The Dark Knight Rises IMAX prologue before showings of Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol, do it. It’s absolutely worth the extra money and you’ll wish the entire movie was being released in the large screen format. Hit the jump for the new images.

Last week we brought you new images from Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises courtesy of Empire magazine. Now we can give you a better look at those shots in addition to some new ones. The high-res photos feature Christian Bale and Tom Hardy as arch-nemeses Batman and Bane ready to square off. In addition to the better quality looks at the Empire magazine covers, there is another shot of the Dark Knight on his Batpod, Bane looking all jacked up and what might be the first image of the new Batwing vs the old Batmobile/Tumbler. We also brought you two fan-made posters that are pretty sweet. Hit the jump to check them out.

With Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises now filming on the streets of Pittsburgh, tons of images and video has been leaking from the set. While we’d already gotten a brief look at Tom Hardy as Bane and the first teaser poster and trailer, if you hit the jump, you can see Bane in full costume, along with a photo of the new Tumbler (Batmobile).
While we’re going to stay away from posting every image that leaks from the set and we won’t post anything that’s deemed a “major” spoiler, I think most of you want to see what Bane looks like. And for those that are trying to stay spoiler free…that’s why I didn’t post the images before the jump. I really can’t wait to see this movie next summer.
UPDATED: We’ve also got some video from the set. It’s below the pics.

Here are two major pieces of The Dark Knight Rises news that you can take to the Gotham City bank. First up, Warner Bros’ has announced that Anne Hathaway has been cast as Selina Kyle. Kyle’s alter-ego is Catwoman, but the press release doesn’t mention the character. They only refer to Hathaway’s role as “Selina Kyle”.
The other major piece of news from the press release is that Tom Hardy will be playing the Batman villain Bane. It was previously rumored that Hardy would be playing villainous psychologist Dr. Hugo Strange. Personally, I think Strange is a more interesting character than Bane, whose claim to fame is that he broke Batman’s back in the comics. Hit the jump to check out the press release. The Dark Knight Rises is due out July 20th.
