Amy Adams Talks BIG EYES, Her Favorite Tim Burton Character, Working with Christoph Waltz, BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE, and More

by     Posted 12 hours ago

Amy Adams leads Big Eyes as Margaret Keane, the woman behind the famous sad-eyed waif paintings.  However, it wasn’t until 1970 that that information was made public because, for years, Margaret’s husband, Walter Keane (Christoph Waltz), claimed her work as his own. Margaret wasn’t particularly outspoken and it took her a good deal of time to insist on getting the credit she deserved, but it was her “quiet dignity” that drew Adams to the role.

While in New York City promoting Big Eyes’ December 25th limited release, Adams sat down to talk about that, the Tim Burton role she dreamed of playing back when she first considered getting into acting, working with Waltz, how to fake paint convincingly, Lois Lane’s role in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and more.  Hit the jump to check out the interview.

Rumor: BATMAN V SUPERMAN Will Directly Address MAN OF STEEL Criticisms

We all knew Man of Steel would provoke discussion once it opened in theaters last summer.  After all, this was a major studio rebooting the most iconic superhero of all time—of course the movie was going to be a worldwide event that would get people talking.  But boy did the movie ruffle some feathers.  Passionate discussion took place in the weeks following the film’s release and just kept going, right up to this moment right here in which people are still discussing/debating the major decisions that Superman makes in the film’s final act.  While director Zack Snyder’s follow-up film, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, is introducing a plethora of DC Comics heroes to a new interconnected universe while also serving as a tee-up for the two-part Justice League film, new plot details suggest that the film will also be addressing some of the major Man of Steel criticisms head on.

More after the jump, but beware of possible minor spoilers for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

Lois Lane is a key character, but Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice also has Batman (Ben Affleck), Superman (Henry Cavill), Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot), Aquaman (Jason Momoa) and Cyborg (Ray Fisher).  How can she possibly make a mark with so many big name superheroes in play? While talking to Amy Adams for her upcoming release, Tim Burton’s Big Eyes, she explained that even though the boys are doing the “heavy lifting” in Batman v Superman, Lois is still very much in the mix because she’s the one acquiring information and putting the pieces together.  Hit the jump for more.

We’ve got Batman (Ben Affleck), Superman (Henry Cavill), Lois Lane (Amy Adams), Lex Luthor (Jesse Eisenberg), Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot), Aquaman (Jason Momoa), Cyborg (Ray Fisher), Alfred (Jeremy Irons) and then some.  Certain main players may seem vital to the Batman and Superman lore, but there’s only so many key characters one film can handle so it’s no surprise that it’s being reported that Zack Snyder’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice will do away with one.

This is a MAJOR spoiler so you’ll have to hit the jump if you want to find out which very familiar character might not make it into Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice [Last warning!  There’s a big Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice spoiler in this article!]

We cover Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice nonstop, but we actually haven’t discussed Jeremy Irons’ involvement in the film since he was first cast as Alfred back in January.  However, while attending the Marrakech International Film Festival to receive a career tribute, Irons teased what we can expected from his version of Alfred in the upcoming release.

Hit the jump to catch what Irons said about Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice‘s Alfred.  The film is due in theaters on March 25, 2016 and also stars Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot, Jesse Eisenberg, Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne, Jason Momoa, Holly Hunter and Scoot McNairy.

Jason Momoa Talks AQUAMAN; Says He’s Signed for 4-Picture Deal, and Wants Zack Snyder to Direct Solo Picture

Zack Snyder‘s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice wrapped filming this weekend, so we still have a very long 15 months of trying to find out every single thing we can about the movie before it opens, and that’s not to mention all of the other DCCU movies in the works.  One of those movies is 2018′s Aquaman starring Jason Momoa as The King of the Seven Seas.  Speaking at Comic-Con Experience in São Paulo, Brazil, Momoa couldn’t comment on the details of Batman v Superman, but he did talk about his contract, when he came on board, his hopes for the character’s future, and more.  The most surprising revelation is that he’s only signed for four movies.  While he didn’t specify, I assume he’s talking about Batman v Superman, Justice League: Part I and Part II, and Aquaman.  This is yet another way DC/WB is breaking away from Marvel in that rather than sign an actor to a ton of pictures and figuring out when to deploy and cross them over, Aquaman is locked into the big team-up, his solo picture, and that’s it.

Hit the jump for what Momoa had to say.  Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice opens March 25, 2016, and also stars Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot, Jesse Eisenberg, Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne, Holly Hunter, Scoot McNairy, and Jeremy Irons.

BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE Wraps Filming

After nearly eight months of production, it appears that Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice has finally finished filming.  Production began on director Zack Snyder’s superhero follow-up to Man of Steel back in April, and then today cinematographer Larry Fong shared an image from an icy location with the caption, “That’s a wrap.”  While it’s possible Fong meant only that work in that particular location has wrapped, given that production has been ongoing for nearly the length of a full pregnancy, it makes sense that Batman v Superman would be completed just before the holiday break.  More after the jump.

BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE to Show Batman’s Parents Getting Murdered Yet Again; Scene Will Be Shot in IMAX

by     Posted 39 days ago

batman-dead-parents

I’m willing to bet if you walked up to ten people on the street and asked them “What happened to Batman’s parents?” at least nine of would correctly answer “They were murdered.”  They could also probably tell you that it was by a mugger in a back alley.  And yet Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice will apparently need to tell us yet again that Thomas and Martha Wayne were gunned down in front of their young son, Bruce Wayne, thus teaching him that crime is bad, and that the best way to fight it is to dress up like a giant rodent and be a vigilante.

I’ll admit that’s a tad reductive, but it’s also true that we don’t need to see the Waynes die again.  We especially don’t need to see it in Batman v Superman, which features an older, more experienced Batman (Ben Affleck).  This is not an origin story, which, by the way, we will never need for Batman ever again unless something is radically altered in his history like being a computer programmer named Bruce Wain.  But new set photo and videos shows that we’ll be getting the Dark Knight’s life-changing event for the umpteenth time.  Hit the jump to check it out.  Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice opens March 25, 2016.

After directing three Batman films, Christopher Nolan opted to take a step back and serve as executive producer on Zack Snyder’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.  Even though that means Nolan isn’t as deeply involved in the production this time around, he’s still got an opinion on Ben Affleck’s casting as Batman.

Hit the jump to check out Nolan’s first thoughts after finding out Affleck was interested in the role.  Batman v Superman hits theaters on March 25, 2016 and also stars Henry CavillGal GadotJesse EisenbergAmy AdamsLaurence FishburneJason MomoaHolly HunterScoot McNairy and Jeremy Irons.

Hans Zimmer Recruits Junkie XL for Batman Help on BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE Score

We learned earlier this year that Hans Zimmer planned to follow up his work on Man of Steel and reunite with director Zack Snyder for the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice score.  However, Zimmer admitted the unique challenge created “a bit of a problem in [his] head,” as he had to figure out how to approach the new Batman without repeating his work on the Christopher Nolan Batman trilogy.

Zimmer has revealed his solution: He will take care of Superman and recruited Junkie XL to take over Batman duty.  More after the jump.

Superhero Movie Release Dates: From 2015 to 2020

superhero-movie-release-dates

There’s no denying that the most popular genre around these days is that of the superhero movie.  Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight Trilogy proved that comic book adaptations could be just as dramatic and heavy as non-genre films, Marvel Studios jumpstarted a massive interconnected series of superhero movies that were significantly more colorful and humorous, and audiences have been turning out to both kinds of superhero movies in droves.  With every major studio now working to turn its own comic book properties into the next big thing, it’s sometimes tough to keep track of what’s coming out when, who’s in it, and how it fits into the overall picture.  Not to worry, though, because we here at Collider have you covered.

After the jump, you’ll find a comprehensive guide of superhero movie release dates for every major comic book adaptation on the calendar, going all the way up to the year 2020.  Moreover, we’ll be updating this guide regularly with the most current information, so if you’re ever looking for the latest news on a specific film, you can come right back here for a quick overview.

As Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice prepares to wrap filming in Michigan, new rumors have surfaced regarding Batman (Ben Affleck) and his weapons.  The photos we’ve seen have shown some mighty glowering, but we might have some new details regarding Bats’ suit and ride.

However, one of these reports isn’t so much of a rumor as a confirmation that Batman will have two suits.  The first is his standard costume and the other is the armor we saw during the Comic-Con presentation.  However, some new rumors have emerged regarding Batman’s armored suit.  Hit the jump for the Batman v Superman rumors [possible spoilers ahead].  The film also stars Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot, Jesse Eisenberg, Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne, Jason Momoa, Holly Hunter, Scoot McNairy, and Jeremy IronsBatman v Superman: Dawn of Justice opens March 25, 2016.

BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE Works to Save the Bats

by     Posted 55 days ago

batman-v-superman-dawn-of-justice

It doesn’t happen often, but sometimes a blockbuster will pick up a charitable cause, and I’m glad it’s happening with Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.  The film has become part of the “Save the Bats” campaign, and the production has released a video where director Zack Snyder and stars Ben Affleck and Amy Adams explain why it’s so important to keep these creatures (which I’ve been told aren’t bugs) as part of our ecosystem.  I don’t disagree with that, and I’m glad that Batman v Superman will bring a great amount of attention to this cause; I hope other blockbusters follow suit with their own projects.  That all being said, if a bat flew into my home, I would run away screaming.  The bat would be the new owner of my apartment.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice isn’t due out until March 25, 2016, but is it possible we could see a teaser trailer this fall?  There’s an outlet reporting that the very first Batman v Superman teaser is finished and that it could be attached to a film coming out soon.

Which film?  They can’t confirm, but if this rumor is true, I’d put my money on another Warner Bros. release, The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies.  Hit the jump for more on this Batman v Superman teaser trailer rumor.
