Most of the Avengers know how to have some fun and the Guardians of the Galaxy certainly enjoy their fair share of messing around, but Batman’s a different story.  Bruce Wayne makes an effort to be cordial and dishes out the occasional smile, but Batman is all business all the time, so between that, his demeanor and his growl, he can come across as a pretty angry guy.

While discussing playing the Caped Crusader in Zack Snyder’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Ben Affleck spoke to Batman’s anger issues and connected them to his own.  Hit the jump to find out how Affleck relates to Batman’s rage.  Batman v Superman hits theaters on March 25, 2016 and also stars Henry CavillGal GadotJesse EisenbergAmy AdamsLaurence FishburneJason MomoaHolly HunterScoot McNairy and Jeremy Irons.

New BATMAN V SUPERMAN Batmobile Image Charges a Stormtrooper with Grand Theft Auto

Filmmaker Zack Snyder continues to make excellent use of social media when it comes to teasing fans, with the latest being a new Batman v Superman Batmobile image with yet another Star Wars tie-in.  This is the third such Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Star Wars mash-up, as Snyder previously tweeted a photo of Henry Cavill dressed as a Jedi and another photo of Batman hanging out with R2-D2.  This new image offers another look at Ben Affleck’s formidable-looking Batmobile, as a Stormtrooper is seen being arrested by GCPD for the theft of said vehicle.  It’s clearly a joke, but Snyder seems to be laying on the Star Wars love pretty thick.  Is he simply a big fan, or could those long-ago rumors of a Snyder-helmed Star Wars spinoff have some truth to them?  Whatever the case, the filmmaker’s tied up in the DC universe for the next few years as he’s poised to shoot Justice League directly after BvS.

Take a look at the new Batman v Superman Batmobile image after the jump.  Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice storms into theaters on March 25, 2016.

TOP 5: BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE Batmobile, JOHN WICK Trailer, IRON MAN 4 Not Currently Planned, MAPS TO THE STARS, TIFF 2014

The Top 5 will take a brief hiatus next week as I’ll be in Austin for MondoCon on Saturday. As someone who has little to no available wall space thanks to its namesake, I’m genuinely thrilled to have the opportunity to attend the convention and meet artists like Tim Sale, Francesco FrancavillaJock, and more. The analogy “like a kid on Christmas” comes to mind, but there’s a solid chance that there will be more alcoholic beverages consumed during my brief stint in Austin than would be appropriate for a child’s Christmas festivities. At any rate, Top 5 and I will return in two short weeks and I’ll likely use the opening paragraph to hit on some of the high points of my MondoCon experience then. This is important because it will not only mean that I enjoyed safe travels but also that my wife let me back in the house in spite of the posters and collectibles that I’ll inevitably bring home.

My prelude to MondoCon out of the way, this week’s installment includes a detailed look at the Batmobile from Zack Snyder‘s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, the first trailer and poster for Keanu Reeves‘ revenge actioner John Wick, word from Robert Downey Jr. that there are currently no plans for Iron Man 4, a new trailer for David Cronenberg‘s Maps to the Stars, and all of our TIFF 2014 coverage to date. Keep reading for a brief recap and link to each of the above.

We posted set photos of the Batman v Superman Batmobile earlier today.   They were cool and all, but nothing compared to what the director and still photographer of the movie has to offer.  Zack Snyder took it upon himself to tweet out a new official image of the Batmobile with the caption: “Here’s a real picture of the #Batmobile.”

It’s been an entire week without any kind of photos from the set of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, so how about we blow the dust off with a reveal of Bruce Wayne’s new Batmobile?  Okay then.  To me this thing looks like it was informed both by Christopher Nolan’s films and by the more classic Batmobile designs.  It’s got the militaristic look and jagged edges from the Nolan-verse, but the shape itself leans ever-so-slightly back to the old school design in the way it tapers off in the middle.

BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE Set Pictures Feature a Better Look at Henry Cavill’s Clark Kent

In case you missed your first opportunity last week to see Henry Cavill as Clark Kent on the set of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, we know have a much clearer look at the actor in his more nebbish form.  These appear to be from the same scene that was shooting last week, but you can see everything with greater clarity.  Not earth shattering news, but it might be of interest to you die-hard fans.

There are so many superheroes and villains in this film that I’m almost surprised they even have time for Kent this time out.  Hit the jump to check out the images.  The film also stars Ben AffleckGal GadotJesse EisenbergAmy AdamsLaurence FishburneJason MomoaHolly Hunter, Scoot McNairy and Jeremy Irons.  Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice opens on May 6, 2016.

We got a look at Ben Affleck in Bruce Wayne form a few weeks ago so how about some shots of Henry Cavill as Clark Kent to go along with them?  As long as Zack Snyder’s busy shooting Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice out in public, bystanders will be snapping photos of the action and this time around, they caught some material that involves Clark Kent having a discussion with a woman in front of the Gotham City jail.

Jesse Eisenberg Talks About the Psychology of Lex Luthor in BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE

When Jesse Eisenberg was cast as Lex Luthor in the upcoming Man of Steel sequel (perhaps it’s actually a spinoff at this point considering how many new characters there are) Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, there was a lot of head scratching.  But I actually can totally see him in the role.  Leaving aside the completely arbitrary question of whether the character will have hair or not, Eisenberg has an intelligence that reads well onscreen not to mention the fact that he can really play entitled and angry.  Eisenberg recently spoke about the film and, while he couldn’t say much, what he did say makes me more confident than ever that he’s the right choice for the role.  In fact, I think his casting could potentially be the most interesting thing about the movie.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is currently filming in Detroit under the direction of Zack Snyder for a March 2016 release.  The film also stars Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot, Amy Adams and Jason Momoa.  Hit the jump to see what Eisenberg has to say about playing Lex Luthor.

Has Warner Bros. Laid Down a “No Jokes” Rule for Its Superhero Movies? [Updated]

by     Posted 21 days ago

dc-superheroes

I like jokes.  I think many people like jokes.  Jokes are not a fad, and they’ve been a staple of storytelling for quite some time.  They’ve been a large part of blockbuster movies where people go to have a good time, and part of that good time includes the magic of laughter.  There are exceptions, and one of the biggest is The Dark Knight trilogy, which had jokes, but they didn’t do much to lighten the mood.  Marvel responded by making humor an integral part of their movies, and the studio’s been pretty successful so far.

But with Warner Bros. planning to build its own interconnected set of superhero films, the studio might be countering in an utterly bizarre manner: by mandating that the new DC supehero movies have “no jokes”.  Hit the jump for more. [Update: An unlikely source has spoken up to refute this "no joke" mandate: Seth Rogen. More after the jump.]

Henry Cavill and Amy Adams Accept the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge in Costume on the Set of BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE

by     Posted 22 days ago

batman-v-superman-als-ice-bucket-challenge-slice

Who hasn’t done the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge at this point?  We’ve seen Chris Pratt do it, James Wan just posted his video, R2D2 got hit with a bucket full of ice water, and even my own mother tried to give it a go!  But this next one is a particularly cool one, and not just because it continues to help spread awareness about a condition we know so little about.

Not only did Henry Cavill and Amy Adams choose to accept the challenge, but they opted to do so in full costume on the set of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.  I can’t imagine the wardrobe department being too thrilled about having that Superman suit absolutely soaked, but it’s a blast to watch and will likely help the campaign get closer to the $80 million mark – if it hasn’t reached it already.  Hit the jump to check out the Batman v Superman ALS Ice Bucket Challenge video and of course, don’t forget to keep spreading the word and if you can, donate yourself by clicking here.

BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE Set Image Reveals a Different Look at Henry Cavill’s New Costume

by     Posted 28 days ago

batman-v-superman-henry-cavill-set-image

Judging by some of the reaction to this picture, it appears as though there are some slight shifts away from the established Man of Steel look in Henry Cavill‘s costume for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.  Not that I can tell.  I’ve seen Man of Steel exactly once and don’t really plan on seeing it again to see if I can spot some minute differences.  This set image (obviously) adds more color to the costume than the official still from last month, and I suppose it’s interesting to see the painted-on muscle patterns in the light of day.  But, on the whole, I think this is a less interesting development than the picture of Scoot McNairy as (potentially) The Flash.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is currently filming in Detroit under the direction of Zack Snyder for a March 2016 release.  The film also stars Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot, Jason Momoa and Jesse Eisenberg.  Hit the jump for the Batman v Superman Henry Cavill set image.

Could Scoot McNairy Be Playing The Flash in BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE?

by     Posted 29 days ago

Warner Bros. and Zack Snyder have been doing a wonderful job of keeping the specifics of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice under wraps while also providing fans with enough information/teases to keep them happy.  The film doesn’t open until March 2016, but we’ve had regular doses of minor reveals for the past few months, and we’ve already seen official looks at Ben Affleck’s Batman, Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman, and the return of Henry Cavill’s Superman.  By and large, Snyder and WB have kept people pretty satisfied.  That being said, there’s always room for speculation, which brings us to today’s curious matter.  A new Batman v Superman set photo has surfaced that has people wondering about the nature of actor Scoot McNairy’s role in the film, as it looks possible that he could be playing none other than Barry Allen aka The Flash in this pre-Justice League feature.  More after the jump.

Ben Affleck on the Reaction to His Casting in BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE

When you sign on to play a superhero, especially someone as iconic as Batman, you’re going to undergo quite a bit of scrutiny.  Warner Bros. was well aware of it and the studio wanted to make sure Ben Affleck was well aware of it before taking the role as well.  However, clearly that didn’t stop Affleck from joining the cast of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice as the new Bruce Wayne/Batman.

While discussing his decision to take the part, Affleck highlighted that if he didn’t think he could do it, he never would have signed on in the first place.  Hit the jump for more of Affleck’s thoughts on being the new Batman.  Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice hits theaters on March 25, 2016 and also stars Henry CavillGal GadotJesse EisenbergAmy AdamsLaurence FishburneJason MomoaHolly HunterScoot McNairy and Jeremy Irons.

New BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE Rumors Reveal Ending Details, Timeline, and Luthor’s Plan [Spoilers, Obviously]

by     Posted 34 days ago

batman-v-superman-ending

Filming on Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice has been underway for over a month now, and the production has done a good job thus far at keeping leaked photos and videos to a minimum.  I assume some of that it just because they haven’t done much outdoor shooting, but all we’ve really seen so far is Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne, which looks like Ben Affleck with slightly graying temples.  Beyond that, there’s been a statue, some rubble, and Zack Snyder calling a local radio station.

But spoilers will still leak out, and we now might have information on the Batman v Superman ending, Luthor’s plan, and where this film falls chronologically in relation to Man of Steel.  So I will put this as clearly as I can: There are spoilers after the jump.  Do not click “Continue Reading” if you do not want to know these plot points.  Now that you’ve been warned, hit the jump if you don’t have a problem knowing new details about the movie.  Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice opens March 25, 2016.
