New Trailer for Forced Prostitution Drama EDEN Starring Jamie Chung

Phase 4 has released a new trailer for the human trafficking drama Eden.  As you probably inferred from the “human trafficking drama” description, Eden looks pretty messed up.  Jamie Chung stars as a Korean-American teenager abducted and forced into prostitution: “Throughout the two years she is held, Eden reluctantly ensures her own survival by carving out power and influence within the very organization that has imprisoned her.”

Eden got solid reviews at SXSW 2012 (I like THR’s account of a “grim but gripping” film), so the harrowing tale (based on a true story) looks to be worth the effort.  You can find Eden in theaters starting March 20.  Matt O’Leary and Beau Bridges co-star in the Megan Griffiths-directed thriller.  Watch the trailer after the jump.

If you enjoyed the first trailer for Dax Shepard’s action rom-com Hit and Run, you might like the new red-band trailer that just came out.  Shepard, who wrote and co-directed the picture with David Palmer, stars as a former wheelman for a gang of bank robbers.  When he exits the Witness Protection Program to drive his girlfriend (Kristen Bell) to Los Angeles, his old crew shows up and makes things a bit more complicated.  The red-band trailer features what you’d expect it to: gratuitous elderly nudity and a fair amount of rape jokes.

The film also stars Bradley Cooper, Kristin Chenoweth, Beau Bridges, David Koechner, Joy Bryant (Parenthood), and Ryan Hansen (Party Down).  Hit and Run hits theaters on August 24th.  Hit the jump to watch the NSFW red-band trailer.

First Trailer for HIT AND RUN Starring Dax Shepard, Kristen Bell, and Bradley Cooper

by     Posted: May 15th, 2012 at 2:45 pm

The first trailer for the action romantic comedy Hit and Run has gone online.  Dax Shepard stars as an ex-getaway driver who exits the Witness Protection program to drive his pretty girlfriend to Los Angeles so that she can land her dream job.  The authorities and his former gang (led by Bradley Cooper) get wind of his reappearance and set out to chase him down.  Shepard wrote and co-directed the film with David Palmer, and it actually looks like a pretty fun comedy.  Cooper appears to be having a blast as a flashy gang member, and real-life couple Shepard and Bell have some excellent chemistry.  Moreover, Tom Arnold is in fine form as a U.S. Marshal who’s trying to protect Shepard’s character.

Hit the jump to watch the trailer.  The film also stars Kristin Chenoweth, Beau Bridges, David Koechner, Joy Bryant (Parenthood), and Ryan Hansen (Party Down).  Hit and Run hits theaters on August 24th.

Dax Shepard, Kristen Bell, and Bradley Cooper to Star in OUTRUN

Exclusive Media Group has acquired worldwide rights to the comedy Outrun. The “high-octane, action romantic comedy” was written by Dax Shepard, who will also star in and co-direct the film with David Palmer. Joining Shepard in the cast is Kristen Bell, Bradley Cooper, Tom Arnold, Kristin Chenoweth, Beau Bridges, David Koechner, Joy Bryant (Parenthood), and Ryan Hansen (Party Down). The film centers on an ex-getaway driver (Shepard) who exits the Witness Protection program to drive his pretty girlfriend (Bell) to Los Angeles so that she can land her dream job. The authorities and his former gang (led by Cooper) get wind of his reappearance and set out to chase him down. This isn’t Shepard’s first time behind the camera, as he also co-directed 2010’s Brothers Justice with Palmer.

This is a pretty great cast here, and I can see them having fun with the silly premise. I’m actually surprised Cooper is fitting the film into his schedule, as he’s quite the busy guy at the moment. He’s currently filming David O. Russell’s The Silver Linings Playbook, and he’s set to move on to Alex ProyasParadise Lost next, followed by Steven Soderbergh’s The Man from U.N.C.L.E. Shepard has actually proved himself to be a solid dramatic actor on NBC’s vastly underrated Parenthood. The show comes from Friday Night LightsJason Katims and if you haven’t seen it, I highly recommend you check it out. Hit the jump for the full press release regarding Outrun.

New Trailer for THE DESCENDANTS Starring George Clooney

“Just because we live in paradise, people think we’re somehow immune to life.” I’m paraphrasing a line from The Descendants because it sums up what the film is about more succinctly than I ever could. It was taken from George Clooney’s narration over the new trailer, which features scenes of discord amongst the King family against a backdrop of Hawaiian beauty. The new comedy/drama from director Alexander Payne (Sideways) was a hit with our editors at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival and looks to continue the tradition of Payne’s unique storytelling style.

The Descendants stars Clooney, Shailene Woodley, Beau Bridges, Robert Forster, Judy Greer, and Matthew Lillard. It opens in theaters on November 18th. Hit the jump for a new trailer and synopsis.

TIFF 2011: THE DESCENDANTS Review

It’s been a long seven years since Alexander Payne’s Sideways hit theaters and his new film The Descendants shows that it’s damn good to have him back.  Tackling materials that could have easily fallen into mawkishness and enough saccharine moments to give diabetes to a small country, The Descendants is instead a sweet, tender movie that never lunges for the heart-strings. It creates an emotional connection through a charming blend of humor, honesty, and a breakthrough turn from young actress Shailene Woodley, and one of the best performances of George Clooney’s career.

It may not feature angry 3D sharks, but Alexander Payne’s new film The Descendants might be a better movie.  The film stars George Clooney as the “back-up” parent to two daughters.  He must step up when his wife suffers a serious boating accident off of Waikiki, and then he learns the hard truth that she was cheating on him.  Judging by the trailer, the flick looks to have the same strong character relationships tinged with humor and sadness as seen in Payne’s previous films.

Hit the jump to check out the trailer.  The film also stars Judy Greer, Matthew Lillard, Beau Bridges, and Robert Forster.  The Descendants opens December 16th.
