Hot on the heels of the series premiere, TNT is already rolling in the black gold that is their revival of Dallas. The series has been averaging about 6.9 million viewers in its first season this summer, and that’s after decades away from Southfork and the familiar characters from the classic series. Now with a larger family, the show is back with a vengeance and TNT has decided to keep it around for a second season with a 15-episode order just announced, slated to air sometime in 2013. But that’s not all. TNT also brings back the female detective duo Rizzoli & Isles for a fourth season next year. More details, including full press releases for both renewals, after the jump.

TNT’s return to Dallas has a whole new collection of salacious secrets, schemes and betrayals on the steamy nighttime soap. This time, JR (Larry Hagman), Bobby (Patrick Duffy) and Sue Ellen (Linda Gray) are joined by the next generation of Ewings, who take ambition and deception to a whole new level.
At the show’s press day, actor Patrick Duffy spoke to Collider about reuniting with Larry Hagman and Linda Gray, why he felt this incarnation worked when so many others over the years haven’t (including an “awful” script for a film that was to star John Travolta), how easily and naturally Bobby Ewing came back to him, that he feels this is the perfect progression for the character, the luxury of having to do less on the show, and how much fun it is to get to act out the confrontations between Bobby and JR. Check out what he had to say after the jump.

Now we finally have the first promo for the series after the cable network decided to tease viewers a bit even though it won’t debut until next summer. Since I don’t have a point of nostalgia for this series, I can’t say that I’m all that interested in the series, but it looks like the show may be able to stand alone without necessitating familiarity with the classic TV series from years ago. You can judge for yourself after checking out the promo after the jump.

After gestating for years, TNT has finally given a greenlight to an all-new series based on Dallas, one of the most iconic TV dramas of all-time. However, unlike recent series remakes like Charlie’s Angels and Hawaii Five-0, this series combines stars from the classic show with all-new cast members. Josh Henderson (90210), Jesse Metcalfe (John Tucker Must Die), Jordana Brewster (Fast & Furious), Julie Gonzalo (Veronica Mars) and Brenda Strong (Desperate Housewives) are the new kids on the block, but they’ll be joined by original Dallas stars Patrick Duffy, Linda Gray and Larry Hagman, all reprising their roles from the original series. Hit the jump for more details on the series and the full press release.
