The Fox singing competition series The X Factor returns for Season 2 in September, with two new judges – pop stars Britney Spears and Demi Lovato – and a new crop of aspiring talent. Although I don’t typically cover reality shows, Spears is such a fascinating public figure that I’m making an exception.
Via satellite from Miami for boot camp rounds, during the Fox portion of the TCA Summer Press Tour, Britney Spears and Simon Cowell talked about how she decided to become a judge, what she brings to the show, how inspiring it is to nurture new talent, the relationship between the judges’ panel, the pressure of finding a blockbuster artist on the show, and whether this show is as much about the judges as it is the talent. Check out what they had to say after the jump.
The season premiere of Glee hits the air tomorrow at 8/7c on Fox, but we’ve already got details on the highly anticipated Britney Spears episode which is slated to air on September 28th. We already know Spears herself will be appearing in the episode along with some of her chart-topping hits like “…Baby One More Time” and “Toxic,” and she says, “Working on Glee was an amazing experience.” Well now we have word on the episode’s plot too thanks to a recent press release from Fox. Check out the details after the jump.
We’ve got a collection of brief TV news for you starting with THR’s report that following the success of the Lady Gaga-centric episode of Glee last season, writers are busy working on an episode that will feature the chart-topping pop music of Britney Spears. Series creator Ryan Murphy said succinctly, “We are writing a Britney Spears episode.” It doesn’t get any clearer than that, but what isn’t clear is whether or not the episode will call for an appearance form the pop princess herself, or if she’s even been asked to appear on the series. One thing’s for sure, Glee and it’s 19 Emmy nominations certainly seem to guarantee continued acclaim and viewership.
Speaking of viewers, hit the jump for some potentially bad news for fans of Mad Men, and a new cast member for Fringe.
