Critics Choice Nominees Announced: LINCOLN Garners Record-Breaking 13 Noms; LES MISERABLES and SILVER LININGS PLAYBOOK Follow with 11

by     Posted 2 years, 9 days ago

The nominations for the 2012 Critics Choice Awards have been announced.  Voted on by the Broadcast Film Critics Association, the awards ceremony is set to broadcast live on the CW on January 10, 2013 at 8pm EST.  While we learned in our latest episode of The Collision that the Critics Choice Awards aren’t as influential as other critics groups, they are still part of the awards season race.  The BFCA showed a lot of love towards Steven Spielberg‘s Lincoln, bestowing the film with a record-breaking 13 nominations.  Following close behind were Les Miserables and Silver Linings Playbook with 11 each.   I will say that I think it’s a little silly to have categories for “Best Action Movie”, “Best Comedy”, etc.

Nominations for First Critics’ Choice Television Awards Include MODERN FAMILY, THE WALKING DEAD, GAME OF THRONES and More

by     Posted 3 years, 198 days ago

You may know of the Broadcast Film Critics Association, but now there’s a new branch from that organization with The Broadcast Television Journalists Association, and they’ve just announced their nominations for the first Critics’ Choice Television Awards. Modern Family leads the pack with six nominations, while the dramatic side seems to be dominated by cable series including freshman series Boardwalk Empire, The Walking Dead, Game of Thrones and The Killing. Other veteran series like Friday Night Lights, Dexter and Mad Men get plenty of love too. And before fans get upset when they don’t see any respect paid to Breaking Bad, the show was ruled ineligible since the series’ fourth season doesn’t begin until July. On the comedy side of things, kudos to the critics for recognizing the greatness of Louie and Community, both two fantastic comedy series that need more praise.

Reelz Channel will broadcast the awards telecast on June 22nd at 8/7c and will repeat at 11/10c and several more times throughout the week. The live presentation of the awards themselves will stream on on June 20th when the awards take place at the Beverly Hills Hotel. Check out the full list of nominees after the jump.
