Summit Entertainment has released a new trailer for director Dean Parisot’s (Galaxy Quest) action-comedy sequel Red 2. The spy follow-up pits ex-CIA operative Frank Moses (Bruce Willis) against Victoria (Helen Mirren) when MI6 greenlights his assassination as Interpol’s “Most Wanted.” This trailer introduces us to the film’s new characters, as Anthony Hopkins plays a living MacGuffin (similar to John Hurt‘s character in Crystal Skull) and Catherine Zeta-Jones plays an old flame of Willis’ character who joins the group to combat a common enemy. Byung Hun Lee appears to bring some freshness to the film’s action sequences, and the humorous tone is spot-on thanks to the sensibilities of Parisot. All in all, Red 2 looks to be quite the fun ride.

Summit Entertainment has unveiled a new poster for director Dean Parisot’s (Galaxy Quest) upcoming sequel Red 2. The spy follow-up pits ex-CIA operative Frank Moses (Bruce Willis) against Victoria (Helen Mirren) when MI6 greenlights his assassination as Interpol’s “Most Wanted.” Mary-Louise Parker and John Malkovich reprise their characters from the first film as they’re joined by a bevy of newcomers that includes Catherine Zeta-Jones, Byung Hun Lee, and Anthony Hopkins. This poster asks onlookers to test their knowledge of the aforementioned actors’ backsides, as the assembled cast is shown facing the opposite direction and striking some rather intimidating poses.

For better or for ill, we’re living through chemistry. It is not a new phenomenon, but it is one that has drastically accelerated, and one with dangerous consequences we can’t escape. Arguably the most dangerous is the field of anti-depressants/anti-anxiety drugs. These drugs have value, but their effectiveness, and more importantly, their prescription, is always uncertain. We’re flawed individuals who are asking for psychological help from other flawed people. Steven Soderbergh‘s Side Effects spends its first-half exploring this fascinating and complicated issue, but in its second-half, the film ceases to explore the mind, and becomes a mind-numbingly idiotic thriller.

Open Road Films has released a new trailer for director Steven Soderbergh’s psychological thriller Side Effects. The film stars Rooney Mara as a troubled young woman who develops a dangerous love triangle between her doctor (Jude Law) and her newly paroled husband (Channing Tatum). The engaging thriller aspect of the film is still very effective in this trailer, but we also get a better look at some of Soderbergh’s gorgeous camerawork as well. Can we all mount a last-ditch effort to stop him from retiring?

A new U.K. trailer for director Steven Soderbergh’s upcoming psychopharmacology thriller Side Effects has been released online. The film stars Rooney Mara as a troubled young woman who develops a dangerous love triangle between her doctor (Jude Law) and her newly paroled husband (Channing Tatum). This new trailer sets up the pharamacology portion fairly quickly, but then we get some promising looks at just how dark, sexual, and crazy Soderbergh looks to be going. There’s quite a bit of new footage to thumb through, and I’m hoping that this trailer doesn’t show too much.

Directed by Dean Parisot (Galaxy Quest), the spy sequel pits ex-CIA operative Frank Moses (Bruce Willis) against Victoria (Helen Mirren) when MI6 greenlights his assassination as Interpol’s “Most Wanted.” Mary-Louise Parker and John Malkovich return in fine form, providing some of the funnier moments in the new trailer. Joining the sequel will be Catherine Zeta-Jones, Byung Hun Lee and Anthony Hopkins. Red 2 opens August 2, 2013. Hit the jump to check out the teaser trailer and poster for Red 2.

20th Century Fox has released four clips from director Allen Hughes’ (The Book of Eli) upcoming political thriller Broken City. The film stars Mark Wahlberg as a private detective who is hired to identify the lover of a powerful politician’s wife (Catherine Zeta-Jones), with Russell Crowe playing the shady politician. Wahlberg and Crowe look to be having a lot of fun with the roles, so hopefully the full film delivers.

A new trailer for director Steven Soderbergh’s possibly final theatrically released film Side Effects has been released. Rooney Mara stars as a troubled young woman who develops a dangerous love triangle between her doctor (Jude Law) and her newly paroled husband (Channing Tatum). I love the fact that Soderbergh is tackling a psychological thriller for one of his last features, and the director’s use of close-ups and handheld definitely gives this trailer a feeling of clausterphobia and unease. It should be mentioned, though, that the filmmaker has been a fan of pulling a bit of a bait-and-switch with his recent trailers, marketing Haywire and Magic Mike as a straightforward action film and flashy stripper movie, respectively, when both films actually turned out to have much more going on. I look forward to seeing what kind of twist Soderbergh has in store for Side Effects.

20th Century Fox has released a new trailer for director Allen Hughes’ (The Book of Eli) political thriller Broken City. The film stars Mark Wahlberg as a private detective who is hired to identify the lover of a powerful politician’s wife (Catherine Zeta-Jones), with Russell Crowe playing the shady politician. This trailer focuses quite a bit more on the film’s plot, teasing an enticing power play between Wahlberg and Crowe’s characters. We also see a bit more of Zeta-Jones’ character, though her intentions aren’t entirely made clear. The real draw, though, seems to the face-off between Wahlberg and Crowe, and I’m eager to see the two go toe-to-toe when the full film hits theaters.

The first trailer for director Steven Soderbergh’s psychological thriller Side Effects has been released. Rooney Mara stars as a troubled young woman who develops a dangerous love triangle between her doctor (Jude Law) and her newly paroled husband (Channing Tatum). It’s tough to get a grasp on exactly what the film’s about from this trailer, but I was sold the minute I heard “Steven Soderbergh’s psychological thriller.” The film also reunites the filmmaker with his Contagion screenwriter Scott Z. Burns. Mara’s proven herself to be an incredibly strong actress, and it appears we may get some intense performances from her, Tatum, and Law. Moreover, Side Effects may or may not be Soderbergh’s second-to-last film ever, as the Liberace biopic Behind the Candleabra is the only other film the director is set to release for the foreseeable future.

A new U.S. trailer and some images have been made available for Stephen Frears’ Lay the Favorite. While it’s a bit better than the previously released trailer for the film, the comedic beats still seem to be missing their marks. The film stars Rebecca Hall (The Town) as Beth, a Florida stripper who leaves her job to become a Vegas cocktail waitress until professional sports gambler Dink (Bruce Willis) gives her a better option, placing wagers all over town in an attempt to beat the system. The plot thickens (or falls apart completely) when Beth is fired, tries to find work with a New York bookie and lands herself in trouble with the law.
Lay the Favorite also stars Catherine Zeta-Jones, Vince Vaughn, Joshua Jackson and Laura Prepon and opens in theaters December 7th. Hit the jump to watch the trailer and see some new images from the film.

New set photos for James Mangold’s The Wolverine, Spike Lee’s Oldboy remake and Dean Parisot’s Red 2 have emerged today. From Wolvie, we don’t get more shots of star Hugh Jackman, but we get a glimpse of Silver Samurai and of the actor playing him (Will Yun Lee). There’s also a stuntman on hand to unleash the first look at Logan’s claws in action. The Oldboy images put star Josh Brolin front and center and shirtless for the most part. Red 2 shows off previous cast members Bruce Willis, John Malkovich and Mary-Louise Parker as well as new additions, Catherine Zeta-Jones and David Thewlis. Pay special attention to Malkovich’s insane attire (he’s fabulous).
The Wolverine bows on July 26th, 2013. Lee’s Oldboy, also starring Samuel L. Jackson and Elizabeth Olsen, opens sometime next year. Red 2 is slated for an August 2nd, 2013 release. Hit the jump to see the set photos.

The first trailer for director Allen Hughes’ (The Book of Eli) political thriller Broken City has been released. Mark Wahlberg stars as a private detective who is hired to identify the lover of a powerful politician’s wife (Catherine Zeta-Jones). Russell Crowe plays the morally ambiguous politician with plenty of gusto, and there look to be some fun scenes where Crowe and Wahlberg go toe-to-toe. The soundtrack on the trailer is a bit distracting and the January release date isn’t super promising, but this could be a nice little thriller with some interesting performances.

Some debut images from a couple of upcoming releases have hit the web. First up, the first two images from director Allen Hughes’ (The Book of Eli) political thriller Broken City highlight stars Russell Crowe, Catherine Zeta-Jones, and Mark Wahlberg. The story centers on a private detective (Wahlberg) who is hired to identify the lover of a powerful politician’s (Crowe) wife. Zeta-Jones is onboard as said unfaithful wife, and Wahlberg—who also serves as a producer on the film—compares the pic’s elements of “really strong characters [and] plot points you didn’t see coming” to Roman Polanski’s classic Chinatown. The pic opens on January 18th, 2013.
We’ve also got the first images from the horror film Mama, which was directed by Andres Muschietti based on his own short film. Jessica Chastain and Game of Thrones star Nikolaj Coster-Waldau topline the thriller as a couple who take in their neice and nephew after the children mysteriously surface five years after disappearing on the day of their mother’s murder. The supernatural pic comes from producer Guillermo del Toro and also opens on January 18th, 2013. Hit the jump to take a look at the images.
