You’ll have to wait until August 1st to view the movie in full, but for now, hit the jump to watch the first Guardians of the Galaxy TV spot.

GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY Will Feature Motion-Capture Thanos; James Gunn Says Film Connects to AVENGERS 3

With each new Marvel Studios release, fans are not only eager to dig into whatever solo adventure is on display, but also to see how the film connects to the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe as a whole.  The recent Captain America: The Winter Soldier serves as a prequel of sorts to Avengers: Age of Ultron, setting up the story for Joss Whedon’s highly anticipated ensemble sequel.  We still have one Marvel film left to go before Age of Ultron hits theaters in 2015, but it’s looking more and more like Guardians of the Galaxy will be more removed from the immediate MCU than the other films—at least for now.

In the latest issue of EW, Guardians writer/director James Gunn spoke a bit about the film, confirming that big baddie Thanos will indeed appear in motion-capture form, and teasing that the pic very much connects to Avengers 3.  Read Gunn’s full comments after the jump, along with a few new images from the unabashedly weird-looking Guardians of the Galaxy.

Marvel has released the first Guardians of the Galaxy clip.  The clip introduces us to Chris Pratt as Peter Quill (aka Star-Lord), borrowing a few notes from Indiana Jones as he steals a floating orb from its pedestal.  Perhaps the orb is one of the Infinity Stones?

Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Lee Pace, Michael Rooker, Karen Gillan, Djimon Hounsou, John C. Reilly, Glenn Close, and Benicio del Toro co-star in the August 1 release, written and directed by James Gunn (Super).  Watch the first Guardians of the Galaxy clip after the jump.

B.D. Wong Set to Return for JURASSIC WORLD; More Details Revealed about Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard’s Characters

Every Jurassic Park sequel has had a returning character from the original, but they were leads (Jeff Goldblum and Sam Neill, respectively).  Jurassic World won’t break from tradition, but it will take a much smaller character and bring him into the cast.  According to IGN, B.D. Wong, who played the InGen’s chief geneticist Dr. Henry Wu, will be returning for the upcoming sequel.  “He had a much larger role in the original novel, he was the engineer of this breakthrough in de-extinction,” director Colin Trevorrow explains. “He spent two decades living in Hammond’s shadow, underappreciated. We think there’s more to his story.”

Hit the jump for some more details about the lead characters played by Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard.  The film also stars Nick Robinson (The Kings of Summer) and Ty Simpkins (Iron Man 3).  Jurassic World opens June 12, 2015.

Recap of the GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY Q&A with Chris Pratt, James Gunn, and Marvel’s Kevin Feige

Earlier tonight, director James Gunn and star Chris Pratt joined Marvel’s Kevin Feige in a half-hour Q&A on all things Guardians of the Galaxy.  While you didn’t miss any new footage or surprise guests, the trio was surprisingly open in their answers to questions from both fans and AMC’s John Campea who moderated the event.  Gunn described the film as being in “The Marvel flavor, but [having] a lot of old-school space opera about it.”  He also shared a story about how Pratt almost missed on the audition for Star-Lord completely.  The charismatic Pratt shared an anecdote of his own, and Feige teased a possible Easter egg in the films for fans of the comics.  Hit the jump for the highlights.

TOP 5: GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY, X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST Set Visit, POMPEII Interviews, FANTASTIC FOUR Casting, Toy Fair 2014

Landing just outside of this week’s Top 5 and earning an opening paragraph mention as a result is the first trailer and poster for writer/editor/director Ti West‘s The Sacrament. Obviously inspired by 1978′s Jonestown Massacre, the film features a team of journalists who attempt to document the story of a seemingly peaceful religious commune only to have the proverbial shit hit the fan in the process. I think West is among the best working directors in terms of creating and maintaining terror as evidenced by both 2009′s The House of the Devil and 2011′s The Innkeepers. Each of those films expertly sustain a sense of dread throughout and if Gene Jones hauntingly daring the visiting journalists to “Take it…” in this first trailer is any indication, The Sacrament looks to be cut from the same stellar mold. While it will be tough to match the psychological horror dealt out by 2011′s cult-centric drama Martha Marcy May Marlene, I’ll be anxiously anticipating West’s latest up until the time it hits VOD on May 1st.

Transitioning to the list section of the feature, this week’s installment highlights the first trailer for Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, Steve’s set visit coverage for X-Men: Days of Future Past, interviews for and Matt’s review of Paul W.S. Anderson‘s Pompeii, casting news for Fox’s Fantastic Four reboot, and coverage from the floor of Toy Fair 2014 at the Javits Center in NYC. Keep reading for a quick recap and link to each of the above.

Marvel has released two brief teasers featuring Guardians of the Galaxy‘s animated characters, Rocket Raccoon (voiced by Bradley Cooper) and Groot (voiced by Vin Diesel), and now they have teasers for the other three members of the crew.  This time, they’re focusing on the live-action characters: Chris Pratt as the roguish Peter Quill (aka “Star-Lord”), the assassin Gamora (Zoe Saldana), and the rampaging Drax the Destroyer (Dave Bautista).  I assume these are the end of the character teasers, but it would be nice to see ones for Nebula (Karen Gillan) and The Collector (Benicio Del Toro) since they also made appearances in first trailer.

Hit the jump to check out the teasers.  The film also stars Djimon Hounsou, John C. Reilly, Lee Pace, Glenn Close, Michael Rooker, and Peter SerafinowiczGuardians of the Galaxy opens in 3D on August 1st.

This week is all about Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy.  Not only did the first trailer for the film drop late last night, but we’ve also seen a host of great images from the colorful cast of characters.  However, there are some moments in the trailer that zipped by so fast that the eye could hardly register them.  We’ve gone ahead and remedied this by snagging 20 new images from the trailer that show off Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Djimon Hounsou, John C. Reilly and more in costume.

Also starring Lee Pace, Benicio Del Toro, Karen Gillan, Glenn Close, Michael RookerPeter Serafinowicz, and the voices of Bradley Cooper and Vin DieselGuardians of the Galaxy opens in 3D on August 1st.  Hit the jump to check out the screencaps.

Hot on the heels of Marvel’s first trailer for James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy come 12 new images from the snarky superhero film.  In addition to looks at Chris Pratt as Peter Quill/Star-Lord, Zoe Saldana as Gamora, and Dave Bautista as Drax the Destroyer, there are also some excellent shots of the more unconventional characters of Rocket Raccoon (voiced by Bradley Cooper) and Groot (voiced by Vin Diesel).  We also get our first clear looks at Taneleer Tivan/The Collector (Benicio Del Toro) and Nebula (Karen Gillan).

Also starring Lee Pace, John C. Reilly, Glenn Close, Michael Rooker, Djimon Hounsou, and Peter Serafinowicz, Guardians of the Galaxy opens August 1st.  Hit the jump to check out the new images.

First Trailer for Marvel’s GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY Starring Chris Pratt and Zoe Saldana

Marvel has released the first trailer for Guardians of the Galaxy.  Led by half-human, half-alien Peter Quill (Chris Pratt), the team is comprised of humanoid aliens Gamora (Zoe Saldana) and Drax the Destroyer (Dave Bautista), talking raccoon Rocket Raccoon (Bradley Cooper), and Groot (Vin Diesel), a giant, walking tree.  If you were at last year’s Comic-Con, you’ll recognize a lot of the footage, but for the majority of audiences this first look gives a great sense of tone and the type of humor on display in the film.  We also get a solid look at Karen Gillan as Nebula and Benicio Del Toro as The Collector; a dozen new still images from the film can be found here.

Lee Pace, John C. Reilly, Glenn Close, Michael Rooker, Djimon Hounsou, and Peter Serafinowicz also star in the comic book adaptation directed by James Gunn.  Guardians of the Galaxy opens in 3D on August 1st.  Watch the trailer after the jump.

The first trailer for Guardians of the Galaxy will air tonight on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, and Marvel has released a 15-second teaser for it.  The film centers on misfits Peter Quill (Chris Pratt), Gamora (Zoe Saldana), Rocket Raccoon (voiced by Bradley Cooper), Drax the Destroyer (Dave Bautista), and Groot (voiced by Vin Diesel) teaming up to protect a mysterious orb from the clutches of the villainous Ronan the Accuser (Lee Pace).  I’m incredibly excited for this movie, and so while I’m usually annoyed by teasers for trailers, in this case I’ll make an exception.

Listen to Chris Pratt’s Star Lord from His Action Figure for GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY

This past weekend was Toy Fair 2014, and the action figures for Guardians of the Galaxy were among the big “reveals”. Normally, we don’t zero in on a particular toy unless it’s very cool, but in the case of this Guardians of the Galaxy toy for Star Lord (Chris Pratt), we thought we’d share it because it gives a slight hint of the character’s attitude, which most people aren’t aware of. For instance, you may not know about his penchant for 80s music or that he has a Walkman. These little touches are making me excited for the movie, and it’s cute that they made it part of one the action figures.

Hit the jump to check out video of the Star Lord toy in action, and click here, here, here, and here for loads of images from Toy Fair 2014. Guardians of the Galaxy opens August 1st.

Watch: THE LEGO MOVIE Blooper Reel

Outtakes or blooper reels from animated films most often feel a bit contrived given that the “flubs” have to be planned out and created by animators, but that doesn’t make them less entertaining.  In the case of The LEGO Movie, a “blooper reel” has been released online that appears to be a mix of crafted flubs and genuine outtakes from the voice actors that were subsequently animated.  If you’re looking for a little more from Phil Lord and Chris Miller’s excellent and delightful film before you catch a second (or third, or fourth) viewing, this blooper reel should sufficiently tide you over.

Hit the jump to watch the outtake video.  The LEGO Movie is currently playing in awesome theaters everywhere.
