The apocalypse scenario in This Is the End hasn’t been explained, but it looks like the film is employing more than one. There are people being abducted by aliens, the ground opening up to swallow Aziz Ansari, monsters, and now, according to Emma Watson, zombies. There’s a good joke in here of the guys reacting to the news, but this clip seems to be a lead-in to a better scene, and I’m excited to see how Watson plays into the comedy.
Hit the jump to check out the clip. The film stars Seth Rogen, Jay Baruchel, Jonah Hill, James Franco, Danny McBride, and Craig Robinson. This Is The End opens June 12th.

The first clip has been released from Despicable Me 2. In the new film, Gru (Steve Carell) is kidnapped by the “Anti-Villain League”, and recruited in order to defeat a new super villain. As we saw in the latest trailer, Gru seems to have settled comfortably into domestic life, and this clip continues the charming relationship he has with his adopted children. It’s a cute scene that will probably feel slightly familiar to parents who don’t want to deal with annoying neighbors.
Hit the jump to check out the clip. The film also features the voices of Kristen Wiig, Benjamin Bratt, Ken Jeong, Steve Coogan, Dana Gaier, Elsie Kate Fisher, Miranda Cosgrove, and Russell Brand. Despicable Me 2 opens in 3D on July 3rd.

A new clip has been released for Richard Linklater‘s Before Midnight. The new film takes place 18 years after Before Sunrise and 9 years after Before Sunset, and sees Celine (Julie Delpy) and Jesse (Ethan Hawke) navigating married life on a trip to Greece. In the new clip, Celine and Jesse continue to examine their relationship, and you can see the easy-going shorthand between the two characters. However, if you’re looking at this clip and the previous clip, and you’re uneasy about two people just walking and talking, then this movie (and the previous two) may not be for you. For everyone else, Before Midnight that’s absolutely worth your time (click here for my full review from Sundance). Just be sure to see the first two before coming to the latest installment.

Every year, I’m angry I don’t get to go to Cannes, but this year has really me pissed off. The incredible line-up includes Inside Llewyn Davis, Only God Forgives, The Congress, The Bling Ring, As I Lay Dying, Blood Ties, All Is Lost, and more. Nebraska, the new film from Alexander Payne (The Descendants), will be playing in competition, and the first clip has only added to my jealousy of this year’s festival-goers. The plot enters on an aging alcoholic father (Bruce Dern) who decides to take a road trip from Montana to Nebraska to collect what he believes to be a million dollar Publisher’s Clearing House prize. His estranged son (Will Forte) reluctantly agrees to accompany his father in order to keep him out of trouble. There’s grimness to this clip where one of the father’s “friends” (played by Stacy Keach) tries to extort some money, and the son ends up learning an ugly truth. Payne’s films have always had humor, but I’m curious to see how much it will factor in to his latest picture.
We’ll find out when the film screens at Cannes and the buzz begins. Nebraska is slated to open in limited release on November 22nd.

The first clip from director Shawn Levy’s corporate comedy The Internship features stars Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson participating in an online interview. As two out-of-work salesmen looking to reinvent themselves in a digital world, it’s immediately apparent that they’re out of touch with modern technology. The Wedding Crashers chemistry is on display so if you liked it before, it looks like you’re in for more of the same. Be sure to get caught up on Steve’s set visit, including interviews with Levy, Wilson and Vaughn.
Also starring Rose Byrne, B.J. Novak, John Goodman, Dylan O’Brien and Josh Gad, The Internship opens June 7th. Hit the jump to watch the clip.

Sony Pictures Classics has released the first clip from Richard Linklater‘s Before Midnight. The new film takes place 18 years after Before Sunrise and 9 years after Before Sunset, and sees Celine (Julie Delpy) and Jesse (Ethan Hawke) navigating married life on a trip to Greece. Like the previous films, it’s a lot of walking and talking, but it absolutely works because of the intimate and lived-in chemistry between the lead actors, who also co-wrote the film with Linklater. I adored the movie when I saw it at Sundance, and this clip provides a good sense of the second act as the couple reflects back on the arc of their unique relationship.

The first clip from Jeff Wadlow’s Kick-Ass 2 is now online. While I’m surprised that this massive fight scene between costumed heroes and villains is the first clip we’re getting, I’m not complaining! Some of our old favorites are back but there is a host of new characters on both sides of the battle. Battle Guy, Night Bitch and Doctor Gravity get in on the action and it’s not just Kick-Ass and The Mother Fucker who square off. Hit-Girl takes on a big challenge when she goes up against Mother Russia by herself.
Starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Chloe Grace Moretz, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Clark Duke, Donald Faison, John Leguizamo, Jim Carrey and Olga Kurkulina, Kick-Ass 2 opens August 16th. Hit the jump to watch the clip. [Update: Unfortunately it looks as if this clip has been taken down. Sorry if you missed it!]

A new international TV spot has been released for Iron Man 3, and MTV just aired a clip from the upcoming superhero flick. Thankfully, neither the clip nor the TV spot are big on spoilers. It’s just selling the hell out of the action, and that really can’t be spoiled since it’s going to be far more effective on the big screen than it is on your computer monitor or television. My larger concern is if the 3D will help or hinder the picture.
Hit the jump to check out the clip and the TV spot. The film stars Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Guy Pearce, Rebecca Hall, Stephanie Szostak, James Badge Dale, Jon Favreau, and Ben Kingsley. Iron Man 3 opens in 3D on May 3rd.

Universal has released the first clip from Paul Feig‘s new comedy, The Heat. The film is a standard buddy-cop formula where a straight-laced cop (Sandra Bullock) is teamed up with a shoot-from-the-hip partner (Melissa McCarthy), and they learn to overcome their differences and become BFFs on their mission to bring down the bad guys. The plot is secondary to the chemistry, and judging by the trailer, Bullock and McCarthy look like they’re going to be a great comic duo. Most of the new clip is material that’s already been in the trailer, so there’s no need to worry about spoilers.

If I had to bet on a sleeper hit this summer, I’d put my money on The To Do List. A sex comedy with an outstanding cast can really do well at the end of the summer (e.g. Superbad), and other than This Is the End, it’s hard to find a better group of comic actors in a movie this year. The film stars Aubrey Plaza as a sexually inexperienced teenager with a type-A personality who decides to engage in numerous sex acts before she goes to college. This clip highlights the benefits of drinking pineapple juice in order to improve the taste of semen. In a missed opportunity, Dole did not provide product placement.
Hit the jump to check out the clip and a few images. The terrific cast also includes Donald Glover, Rachel Bilson, Bill Hader, Andy Samberg, Alia Shawkat, Mae Whitman, Johnny Simmons, Connie Britton, Clark Gregg, Christopher Mintz-Plasse and Scott Porter. The To Do List opens August 16th.

The MTV Movie Awards isn’t just a phony awards show designed to gather celebrities in a room. It’s also a chance for studios to sell their big upcoming summer movies. There even used to be an award for the best movie of the summer even though those movies hadn’t been released yet. That category has been dropped, but the marketing remains, and MTV has announced that they’ll be premiering an exclusive extended scene from Iron Man 3. I think Marvel has already gone dangerously close to giving away too much of the picture, but if you can’t get enough of Tony Stark fighting his own suits of armor, you’ll probably want to tune in (or you could just wait until the show is over, and watch it when MTV.com posts it online).
Hit the jump to see a sneak peek at the extended scene. If you want to tune in to see the whole clip, the MTV Movie Awards air on Sunday at 9/8c. The show will also have footage from The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. Iron Man 3 opens in 3D on May 3rd.

Marvel has released the first clip from Iron Man 3. Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) has always had an odd relationship with the press, whether he’s sleeping with them asking them to sit down on the ground, or telling them he’s Iron Man. This time around, he uses the press to deliver a direct threat to the Mandarin (Ben Kingsley) with the promise of “good, old-fashioned revenge.” I assume it’s lawful to threaten someone with murder as long as that person is a known terrorist? I’ll have to check the Patriot Act.
Hit the jump to check out the clip. The film also stars Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Rebecca Hall, and Guy Pearce. Iron Man 3 opens in 3D on May 3rd.

The first trailer, clip and poster for writer/director Daniel Algrant’s Greetings from Tim Buckley are now available. The film stars Penn Badgley (Gossip Girl) as a young Jeff Buckley in the early 90s who gets to know a young woman (Imogen Poots) while rehearsing for a tribute show to his late father folk-singer Tim Buckley. As Jeff attempts to form his own identity in the shadow of the legacy of a man he barely knew, he also finds comfort in this new relationship as they explore New York City. The film also stars Ben Rosenfield in flashbacks to the elder Buckley’s 1960s experiences. Hit the jump for the trailer, clip and poster.

A new clip and poster from Fede Alvarez’s Evil Dead remake are now available. The clip takes place inside the infamous cabin in the woods in which all of the vacationers appear to be safe and sound, except for Mia (Jane Levy) who is not quite herself it seems. It’s a bit spoilery, but for fans of the original, it also features a rather recognizable camera sequence.
Check out Matt’s review of Evil Dead here. The film also stars Shiloh Fernandez, Elizabeth Blackmore, Lou Taylor Pucci, and Jessica Lucas. Evil Dead opens on April 5th. Hit the jump to watch the clip and check out the new poster.

A new clip from G.I. Joe: Retaliation has been released. In the upcoming sequel, the Joes are at war with the Cobra as well as the U.S. government, which is being led by an imposter President. It’s a slight embellishment to say that Jinx (Elodie Yung) and Snake Eyes (Ray Park) “fight” in this clip unless “fight” means Jinx swinging swords wildly at Snake Eyes and hoping to hit something. The blindfold doesn’t seem to be doing much good as a teaching tool.
Hit the jump to check out the clip. The film also stars Dwayne Johnson, D.J. Cotrona, Byung-hun Lee, Adrianne Palicki, Jonathan Pryce, RZA, Ray Stevenson, Channing Tatum, and Bruce Willis. G.I. Joe: Retaliation opens in 3D on March 28th.
