Want to get a jump on two new sitcoms coming to television this fall?  You can check out the full pilots for Fox’s The Mindy Project and Ben and Kate.  Mindy Kaling (The Office) stars in her own creation as an OB/GYN who is stuck somewhere between her ideal  relationship (based solely on romantic comedies) and her actual liaisons, which never end quite the way she hopes.  Ben and Kate, from Dana Fox (Childrens Hospital), centers on the off-kilter relationship between a bachelor brother (Nat Faxon) and his single-mom sister (Dakota Johnson).  Both shows will premiere on Fox the night of September 25th, but you can check out the full pilots after the jump.

The first trailer for the indie comedy Goats has landed online.  Directed by Christopher Neil,  the film is based on the novel of the same name by Mark Jude Poirier and tells the coming of age story of a 15-year-old boy (Graham Phillips) who moves from his new age mother’s (Vera Farmiga) South-Western home to an East Coast prep school where his estranged father (Ty Burrell) was once a star student.  The trailer isn’t particularly funny, and David Duchovy is quite strange as the goat-llving beau of Farmiga’s character.  Matt caught the film earlier this year at Sundance and wasn’t a big fan (you can read his review here).

Scrubs MVP John C. McGinley has signed on for a role in Summit’s adaptation of I, Alex Cross.  Tyler Perry stars as a homicide detective in search of a serial killer: “The two face off in a high-stakes game of cat and mouse, but when the mission gets personal, Cross is pushed to the edge of his moral and psychological limits.” According to Showblitz, McGinley will play Chief of Police Richard Brookwell, a “vigorous, ambitious man” in contrast to Cross’ gentler approach homicide.  Matthew Fox, Ed Burns, and Jean Reno also star in the adaptation, directed by Rob Cohen (The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor) from a script by Kerry Williamson and Marc Moss.

Dakota Johnson, the young actress who impressed with her handle on the Aaron Sorkin banter while prancing around in Stanford cardinal underwear in The Social Network, has booked her next three projects.  Variety reports Johnson is currently shooting the indie comedy Goats with David Duchovny and Vera Farmiga.  This summer, she’ll film a role on the 21 Jump Street remake led by Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum.  Lastly, she’ll join Jason Segel, Emily Blunt, Alison Brie, and Chris Pratt for the romantic comedy Five Year Engagement.
