A few weeks back, we alerted you to an upcoming show being assembled by our friends at the Spoke Art Gallery. The Spoke Art guys generally operate out of San Francisco, but this Friday they’re taking a field trip to New York’s Bold Hype Gallery to unleash a Martin Scorsese-themed gallery show that looks to be quite the homerun. Wanna see some preview images from the show and find out what you’ll get if you’re one of the first 100 people in line? Meet me after the jump, folks!
I was unimpressed by the Super Bowl spot for World War Z, and the behind-the-scenes disasters don’t give me much hope for the flick, but eight artists are keeping the hope alive, or at least they care enough to make some great posters. It’s fascinating to see how different artists have approached a movie they haven’t seen, although I assume that at least some of the artists have Max Brooks‘ novel. I don’t know if Paramount is legally allowed to purchase these posters for their marketing materials, but the studio should at least take note of the kind of styles that are available to them.
Hit the jump to check out the posters. The film stars Brad Pitt, Mireille Enos, Matthew Fox, James Badge Dale, and David Morse. World War Z opens on June 21st.
Ltd. Art Gallery popped up in our inbox a week or two ago to share an exciting bit of news: the Gallery was coming up on the its first-ever anniversary, and to celebrate the occasion they were revisiting the pop-culture theme that kicked off their first gallery show all the way back in 2011. The 2012 model was being called Pop 2! The Art of Pop Culture Returns, and—from what the Ltd. Art Gallery folks have told us about this show—it’s gonna be a helluva party.
Wanna find out what’s happening at Ltd. Art Gallery’s Thursday opening of Pop 2! The Art of Pop Culture Returns? Wanna find out which artists have new artwork dropping at the show? Wanna see a few of those prints, including one we’re convinced is one of the year’s absolute best? Meet me after the jump for all of that and more, folks.
