The BBC’s compelling crime drama Luther returns to American shores by pulling a half-Netflix, if you will. You can binge, but only after four days: BBC America will air the four-part miniseries (also know as Season Three) on consecutive nights. It’s a nice schedule for rabid viewers, particularly as the show’s stakes have never been higher.
On the flip side, Luther is not without its flaws. There are those who have said the show can be unnecessarily and cartoonishly violent (criticism I’ve lobbed at shows like Sons of Anarchy and Boardwalk Empire) while wanting to remain serious. But while the third season certainly doesn’t shy away from these moments, it also retains, as it always has, a good sense of what fans want to see when all is said and done. Hit the jump for more on the show’s potentially polarizing final season.
A few casting notices:
- Benicio del Toro is in final negotiations to play Colombian drug lord Pablo Escobar in Paradise Lost, which is not exactly a Pablo Escobar biopic.
- Scoot McNairy booked two roles. He will star opposite Michael Fassbender in Frank, and joins Guy Pearce and Robert Pattinson in The Rover.
- The full cast list for Reach Me features Tom Berenger, Kevin Connolly, Thomas Jane, Sylvester Stallone, Kyra Sedgwick, Kelsey Grammer, Nelly, Terry Crews, Ryan Kwanten, and more.
Details on each project after the jump.
Are the nine more days until the release of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1 just too grueling to endure? Then you should just look through these 58 images from the movie. Warner Bros. can afford to throw secrecy out the window since A) everyone has read the book and B) everyone is going to see the movie anyway.
And if this plethora of images isn’t enough for you, then be sure to read about Steve’s visit to the set, check out his interviews with Daniel Radcliffe, Warwick Davis, Rupert Grint, Evanna Lynch and director David Yates, and watch six clips from the movie. Warner Bros. has released new promotional photos for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Of the seven images, two are of the boy wizard himself with the remaining five providing looks at characters such as Xenophilius Lovegood (played by Rhys Ifans), Albert Runcorn (David O’Hara), Bathilda Bagshot (Hazel Douglas), Rufus Scrimgeour (Bill Nighy), and Gregorovitch (Rade Šerbedžija). With its November 19th release quickly approaching, you should be preparing for an onslaught of Potter press in the coming weeks. Just to error on the side of safety, I would recommend getting that press from us (of course, I may be partial). For an early review of the film, click here. If you haven’t already, you can also check out a new featurette from the film and more new images.
