A new international trailer for director Dennis Dugan’s comedy sequel Grown Ups 2 has been released online, and it’s got everything: ugly mother jokes, deer piss, David Spade in a tire, a Shaq nut shot, and the classic “fat guy jumps naked into a lake” gag.  The story appears to revolve around a rivalry between Sandler’s “old guys” gang and a group of stereotypical frat boys who live near Sandler’s cabin.  It’s hard to believe there’s an audience out there for a sequel like this, but with the first film making over $270 million worldwide, it would appear that there are plenty of people eager to see more Grown Ups.

Columbia Pictures has released the first trailer for director Dennis Dugan’s comedy sequel Grown Ups 2.  I hate myself for saying this, but I actually got a few chuckles out of the trailer.  After you get past the deer piss, there are a couple of ridiculous cameos from Shaquille O’Neal and Andy Samberg that are nice throwbacks to the zany Adam Sandler movies of old.  There’s also a nice flip on the “hot girl car trouble” scene from the first film.  And believe it or not, this might be a role that Lautner was Taylor-made for (sorry).

Hit the jump to watch the trailer.  The film stars also Kevin James, Chris Rock, David Spade, Salma Hayek, Maria Bello, Maya Rudolph, Nick Swardson and Patrick SchwarzeneggerGrown Ups 2 opens on July 12th.

You’re driving down the street, and it’s suddenly blocked off.  You notice these weird yellow signs with nonsensical letters or numbers.  There’s unusual glow lighting up a neighborhood you can’t usually see from your house.  What you might have here is a film company shooting in your town.  It happens a lot, and you never know where they might pop up…until now.

The following is a semi-comprehensive list of films currently shooting, what they’re shooting, and where they’re shooting.  We’ll be telling you where you might get to see the very famous, the kinda famous and (if all goes well) the soon-to-be famous. While we can’t list every single movie, television show, or student film in production, you’ll get a pretty good idea of what the heck is going on where all those people are buzzing about.  Want to know where in the world are Matt Damon, Harrison Ford, Sylvester Stallone, Woody Harrelson, and Leonardo DiCaprio? Hit the jump to watch the new trailer.  The voice cast also includes David Spade (Griffin the Invisible Man), Steve Buscemi (Wayne the Werewolf), Kevin James (Frankenstein), Molly Shannon (Wanda the Werewolf) and Cee Lo Green (Murray the Mummy). Hotel Transylvania opens on September 28th.

Taylor Lautner Joins Adam Sandler in GROWN UPS 2

Twilight’s Taylor Lautner has apparently outgrown vampires and is now interested in comedies.  Enter Adam Sandler’s first-ever sequel, Grown Ups 2.  Lautner is reportedly in negotiations to star opposite Sandler in a role that would allow him to go “toe-to-toe” with the veteran comedian.  Details are in short order at the moment, but reports specify this only as a “fun” role for Lautner, who is looking for another big movie to hang on to. Since The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2 will be closing out the franchise when it hits theaters November 16th, and even with the lackluster box office response to Lautner’s Abduction, the young star might just strike gold in Grown Ups 2. The original film about a reunion of childhood friends grossed over $160 million domestically. Hit the jump for more on the sequel.

JACK AND JILL Sweeps Literally Every Single Category of the Razzies

Well this is quite something. The “Adam Sandler plays a brother and sister” movie Jack and Jill has just made cinematic history: the “comedy” swept literally every single category of the Razzie Awards, which honor the worst in cinematic achievement. Sandler took home Worst Actor and Worst Actress, Al Pacino nabbed Worst Supporting Actor, and the film itself was honored with a triple Worst Couple for Sandler and Katie Holmes, Sandler and Pacino, and Sandler and Sandler. All in all, it was a pretty great/terrible night for Adam Sandler.

Hit the jump to see the full list of nominees that Jack and Jill bested in each category. I keep hoping in vain that the actor will try his hand at drama again, but Grown Ups 2 is on the horizon and this unfunny streak appears to have no end in sight. As such, I’m assuming this isn’t the last time we see Sandler’s name on a Razzie list.

First Official Trailer for HOTEL TRANSYLVANIA

The first official trailer for the animated comedy Hotel Transylvania has gone online. Directed by Genndy Tartakovsky (Samurai Jack), the story centers on Dracula (voiced by Adam Sandler) trying to throw a party for his daughter Mavis’ (Selena Gomez) 118th birthday, but his plans go haywire when a human (Andy Samberg) comes to the hotel and develops a crush on Mavis. The animation actually looks pretty great, and I think the story has some fun potential, but Sandler’s work as Dracula is a bit hard to get used to. It sounds like the actor’s “goofy” voice he uses when making jokes or putting on a character for SNL, so it’s tough to buy it as the actual voice of this Dracula. We don’t really get much into the story here, but there are more than a few laughs (who doesn’t love a good “skeletons taking a shower” joke?)  and I’m pleasantly surprised by how fun it all looks.

Hit the jump to watch the trailer.

JACK AND JILL Blu-ray Review

by     Posted 2 years, 155 days ago

jack-and-jill-adam-sandler

Adam Sandler had a moment there where he seemed to have found what made him a great funnyman and showed that he had acting chops. And though he’d been great before, that moment was around 2008 and 2009 when he made You Don’t Mess With the Zohan and Funny People, but since then he seems to have regressed. After Funny People didn’t work, he’s now making the movies he made fun of in Funny People. Sandler churns out a movie or two a year with his crew of regulars (which includes director Dennis Dugan, Allen Covert, Nick Swarsdon, Jonathan Loughran, Peter Dante and a peppering of his old SNL chums), and in Jack and Jill all the familiar faces show up while Sandler plays twins – with one of the twins being a girl! Cross-dressing is an old comic trope, but Sandler and company do little with it. The film’s saving grace is Al Pacino playing himself. Our review of Jack and Jill on Blu-ray follows after the jump.

New Images from Animated Film HOTEL TRANSYLVANIA Starring Adam Sandler

by     Posted 2 years, 158 days ago

hotel-transylvania-slice

We recently got our first look at the characters from the animated film Hotel Transylvania by way of a few (very tiny) images, but today we’ve got some photos that give us a much better look at the characters. The film centers on Dracula (voiced by Adam Sandler) trying to throw a party for his daughter Mavis’ 118th birthday, but his plans go haywire when a human (Andy Samberg) comes to the hotel and develops a crush on Mavis. The hotel has apparently been human-free since 1898, so the appearance of Samberg’s character is quite disturbing (monsters aren’t big fans of the human race). Dracula disguises the human as a monster named “Johnnystein” and tries to sneak him out of the hotel undetected. I presume the hormones get the best of young Johnnystein and he attempts to get with Dracula’s severely mature daughter.

The monsters look like a fun-loving gang in these imagines, and I imagine kids will be big fans of the film. The voice cast also includes Selena Gomez (Mavis), David Spade (Griffin the Invisible Man), Steve Buscemi (Wayne the Werewolf), Kevin James (Frankenstein), Molly Shannon (Wanda the Werewolf) and Cee Lo Green (Murray the Mummy). Hit the jump to check out the images. Hotel Transylvania opens September 28th.

First Look at the Characters from the Animated Family Film HOTEL TRANSYLVANIA Starring Adam Sandler

Later this year, Sony Pictures will release the animated family film Hotel Transylvania.  The movie centers on Dracula (voiced by Adam Sandler) trying to throw a party for his daughter Mavis’ 118th birthday, but his plans go haywire when an ordinary guy (Andy Samberg) comes to the hotel and develops a crush on Mavis.  We saw a promo poster and banner for the movie last June, but nothing since then.  But today, we were sent a new promo poster for the film, and it provides a small first look at the characters.  In a less-than-shocking reveal, Dracula looks like Sandler.  You’ll also see that the werewolf is wearing a dress shirt and tie.  Just because he’s a werewolf, he still dressed up nice for the party.  I respect that.

Hit the jump to check out the promo poster along with a new image of Mavis.   The film also features the voices of Kevin James as Frankstein, Fran Drescher as his bride Eunice, David Spade as Quasimodo, Steve Buscemi and Molly Shannon as a pair of married werewolves, and Cee Lo Green as a Murray the Mummy.  Hotel Transylvania opens in 3D on September 21st.

Adam Sandler Considers GROWN UPS Sequel; America is to Blame

by     Posted 2 years, 256 days ago

Grown Ups movie image slice

Believe it or not, from Adam Sandler’s extensive body of films, he has never made a sequel. Now some of you may argue that his basic plot is rehashed in 90% of his films (and I wouldn’t disagree), but the fact remains that there has never been a second installment of any of his films. It seems that the creative well has run even drier as Showblitz (via Variety) reports that Sandler is in talks with Grown Ups scribe, Fred Wolf to discuss a potential sequel. I can’t exactly blame him. Sony and Happy Madison Productions’  Grown Ups was the highest-grossing film for Sandler at a worldwide total of $271 million. Though Sandler is not yet signed on for the sequel, his involvement is contingent upon the script. Perhaps we’ll see him in a reunion with Kevin James, Chris Rock, Rob Schneider and David Spade. Hit the jump for more, including why this is all America’s fault.
