Plenty of Monster Action in New International GODZILLA Trailer

godzilla trailer

The latest entry in the storied Godzilla franchise is fast approaching on May 16.  Legendary has released an international Godzilla trailer, and from the looks of it, the new movie has everything a Godzilla fan could possibly want.  The only reason to not watch the new trailer is if you want to stay fresh for all the big moments in the movie theater, since the trailer reveals a lot.  Ken Watanabe previews one sure-to-be big moment with the last line: “Let them fight.”

Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Elizabeth Olsen, Juliette Binoche, Sally Hawkins, David Strathairn, and Bryan Cranston star.  Watch the new Godzilla trailer after the jump.

New IMAX Poster and Japanese Trailer for GODZILLA Starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Bryan Cranston

A new IMAX poster and Japanese trailer have been released for Godzilla, and the trailer doesn’t tell us much.  It’s kind of cool that the studios have managed to keep the plot under wraps for this long.  If you’re not going to fully reveal the monster, why reveal any unnecessary details about the plot?  It’s Godzilla.  Godzilla fights other monsters.  Humanity tries not to die.  Roll credits.  As for these new pieces of marketing, the film gets another great poster (I’d be disappointed if the IMAX poster for Godzilla was weak) and the Japanese trailer has some bits of new footage.  However, I was surprised to learn that the movie doesn’t open in Japan until July 25th.  Why do they get it months after we do?  Japan is Godzilla’s home!

New Footage from Two New TV Spots for GODZILLA Starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Elizabeth Olsen, and Bryan Cranston

Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures have released two new TV spots for Godzilla.  I continue to be impressed at how little the studios are showing from the movie.  While other summer blockbusters are rushing to reveal as much as possible, Godzilla is still teasing.  Granted, we’re still six weeks away from the movie’s release, and there’s plenty of time to give away too much, but for the time being, it’s nice to get new footage, but not so much that the film will be slightly less exciting when it arrives.

International Trailer for GODZILLA Showcases New Footage and More Destruction

A new international trailer for director Gareth Evans’ highly anticipated Godzilla has landed online, and it’s quite excellent.  Plenty of new footage can be gleaned from this trailer, as we see much more of the titular creature’s immense amount of destruction and also get a better look at the film’s human characters.  This pic continues to look fantastic, and I’m incredibly eager to see the full feature on a ginormous IMAX screen in a couple of months.

New Full-Length Trailer for GODZILLA Starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Elizabeth Olsen, and Bryan Cranston

Legendary Pictures and Warner Bros. have released a new trailer for director Gareth Edwards’ upcoming monster redo Godzilla.  Starring Aaron Taylor-JohnsonBryan Cranston, and Elizabeth Olsen, the film “pits the world’s most famous monster against malevolent creatures who, bolstered by humanity’s arrogance, threaten our very existence.”  This full-length trailer delves a bit deeper into the film’s plot without giving too much away, which is all-too-rare nowadays (ahem, The Amazing Spider-Man 2).  Cranston appears to be the film’s voice of reason as his voice narrates this new trailer, and while we do get hints of a twist on the nuclear origins of the titular monster, the main focus is really on conveying the epic scope of the film through a series of sweeping shots.  Some of the unfinished effects look a little spotty, but all-in-all this is another exciting glimpse at what’s poised to be a monster hit at the box office this summer.  I also like how they’re still keeping any full or clear shots of Godzilla himself out of the marketing—at least for now.

Hit the jump to watch the new trailer.  The film also stars Juliette BinocheSally HawkinsKen Watanabe, and David Strathairn.  Godzilla opens in 2D, 3D, and IMAX 3D on May 16th.

Full Cast and Synopsis Revealed for THE BEST EXOTIC MARIGOLD HOTEL 2

The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel was one of 2012′s sleeper hits.  It was the perfect summer counter-programming to the blockbusters inundating theaters.  John Madden‘s film is a nice, fluffy piece that has charming actors in a story featuring a solid balance of comedy and romance with a little bit of drama thrown in for good measure.  This mixture ended up yielding $136 million worldwide on a reported budget of $10 million, and that’s good enough for Fox Searchlight to make The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel 2 the first sequel in the company’s history.  Judi Dench, Maggie Smith, Bill Nighy, Dev Patel, Celia Imrie, Ronald Pickup, Penelope Wilton, Diana Hardcastle, Tena Desae, and Lillete Dubey are all set to return, and they’ll be joined by Richard Gere, David Strathairn, and Tamsin Greig (Episodes).

Hit the jump for the press release, which contains the synopsis for the movie.  Ol Parker and Madden will return to write and direct, respectively.

Yesterday, the teaser trailer for Godzilla was released online, and judging by the reaction of the people I follow on Twitter, response was positive.  It’s a well-made trailer, and more importantly, the response shows that people are eager to see the giant monster get a second chance at an American adaptation.   Today, an international trailer and TV spot have gone online, and the tone is the same, but they contain brief new bits of footage.  If yesterday left you with a need for more Godzilla (or a need for actors who will be in Godzilla, since there’s not much of the titular monster at this point), it’s a quick fix.

Hit the jump for the trailer and TV spot.  The film stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Elizabeth Olsen, Bryan Cranston, Juliette BinocheDavid Strathairn, Ken Watanabe, and Sally Hawkins.  Godzilla opens in 3D on May 16, 2014.

Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures have released the first trailer for director Gareth EdwardsGodzilla along with a new poster  If you want to see the titular kaiju, you’re going to be in for a bit of a disappointment, but you should be encouraged by the style Edwards is bringing to the movie.  There are some great-looking shots, especially the opening halo jump and the red smoke clouds following the paratroopers.  And when Godzilla is finally “revealed”, it’s in a stunning, smokey silhouette.  It’s an effective teaser trailer, and I don’t mind waiting to see more while the special effects team attempts to recreate one of cinema’s most memorable monsters.

HBO has become one of the great places for auteurs to make cheaper movies.  Of late we’ve seen Todd Haynes and Steven Soderbergh turn to the channel to get films made, and now Philip Kaufman has joined their ranks.  The man behind The Right Stuff and The Unbearable Lightness of Being directed Hemingway & Gellhorn, a biopic about Ernest Hemingway’s one-time wife and reporter Martha Gellhorn.  And for the film he got Nicole Kidman and Clive Owen to star as his drunken lovers.  Our review of the Blu-ray of Hemingway & Gellhorn follows after the jump.

Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures announced today that filming has begun in Vancouver on director Gareth Edwards’ (Monster) new Godzilla film. Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Elizabeth Olsen, and Juliette Binoche lead a cast that also includes David Strathairn and Bryan Cranson.  Additionally, the press release notes that Ken Watanabe has now joined the film as well.  Though plot details are firmly under wraps, we know from the film’s brief Comic-Con appearance last year that Edwards is taking a grounded, realistic approach to the classic monster.  His take attempts to answer the question, “What would it be like if all of this really happened?”

Edwards is working from a screenplay by Max Borenstein, Frank Darabont, and Dave Callaham.  Hit the jump to read the full press release.  Godzilla opens in 3D on May 16, 2014.
