At WonderCon this past weekend, Steve sat down with Simon Kinberg to talk about the writer/producer’s high-profile projects.  Among Kinberg’s slate of films is X-Men: Days of Future Past, which opens next month.  During their conversation, Kinberg talked about deleted scenes as well as what’s happening with Anna Paquin being in the film.  Four months ago, director Bryan Singer said her scenes had landed on the cutting room floor, but last week a representative for 20th Century Fox said she was still in the movie.  Attempting to clear up the confusion, Steve asked Kinberg about it point blank.  Kinberg replied, “She’s not in the big main sub-plot that we shot with her in it. That’s all I can say.”  When pressed to answer if she at least has a cameo, Kinberg laughed and replied, “I can’t.”

Hit the jump for my theory on how she could still be in the movie, and to learn about the X-Men: Days of Future Past deleted scenes including a subplot featuring the future Professor X (Patrick Stewart) and Magneto (Ian McKellen).  X-Men: Days of Future Past opens in 2D and 3D on May 23rd.  For more from Kinberg, click here for what he had to say about The Fantastic Four.

Deleted Scene from THE RAID 2 Features Bullets and Buckets of Blood in an All-Out Gang War

An extended deleted scene from The Raid 2 has been released online.  The film picks up directly after the events of the first pic, as rookie cop Rama (Iko Uwais) must go undercover in the criminal underworld to protect his wife and infant son after his raid of a gangster-ridden high-rise attracted the attention of some very bad, powerful people.  I haven’t seen the film since January (my review), so I don’t know where this scene would take place or the reasoning behind it.  Honestly, the details don’t really matter since it’s an action showcase that doesn’t show any of the main characters.  Instead, it’s yet another example of director Gareth Evans‘ skill at directing action, and the movie’s extreme violence.

Love it or hate it, the season finale of True Detective’s inaugural run was one of the most talked about hours of television so far this year.  Hopefully you’ve been keeping up with Allison’s recaps, but even if you’ve been obsessed with Nic Pizzolatto’s series this year, there’s a good chance you missed a few things.  Like, remember when Matthew McConaughey’s moody character, Rust Cohle, temporarily found love again with Elizabeth Reaser’s Laurie Spencer?  Did you ever wonder what happened to split the two of them up (or why Reaser had one total line all season)?  Well, now you can find out in this newly released deleted scene from the HBO series.  Hit the jump to check it out.

Watch: Jeremy Renner Lashes Out in Deleted Scene from AMERICAN HUSTLE

Though American Hustle failed to land a single win out of its 10 nominations at the Oscars last weekend, the film remains a hit with audiences with a worldwide box office total of $248.2 million.  Director David O. Russell’s latest feature hits Blu-ray and DVD in a couple of weeks, and in anticipation of the home video release a deleted scene from the pic has been released online.  It’s no secret that Russell has a very particular way of working that involves plenty of improvisation and the creation of new scenes on the fly, and that energy is prevalent in this deleted scenes which finds the core characters played by Jeremy Renner, Bradley Cooper, Amy Adams, and Christian Bale giving a tour of New Jersey to “the Sheikh”, played by Michael Peña.  All does not go as planned, resulting in Renner’s character losing his cool in front of some New Jersey residents.

Hit the jump to watch the new deleted scene.  It’s unclear exactly how many deleted scenes will be included on the Blu-ray/DVD, but there’s likely plenty of footage that didn’t make the finished film.  American Hustle will be released on Blu-ray and DVD on March 18th.  Click here to pre-order.

A deleted scene has been released from the upcoming Blu-ray/DVD for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire as well as another deleted scene from Thor: The Dark World.  The Catching Fire scene has Sam Claflin explaining how his learning to tie a noose in less than ten seconds ultimately went to waste, and while this scene does show more of his character Finnick Odair being charming, I can understand why it was left on the cutting room floor.  As for the scene from Thor, it’s a brief fight between Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and some Asgardian guards, and that’s about it.

With Marvel’s Thor: The Dark World arriving on Blu-ray and DVD later next month, we here at Collider are happy to offer an exclusive preview of a deleted scene that will be included on the home video release.  This is a scene that takes place towards the beginning of the film in Asgard, as Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Volstagg (Ray Stevenson), and Fandral (Zachary Levi) sit around a large table while Volstagg recounts some close battle encounters to a group of eager-eyed children.  It’s a nice scene that serves to flesh out the world of Asgard, and there’s plenty more fascinating material from the film included on the Blu-ray release.

Joss Whedon Talks about Killing Marvel Characters; Alternate Ending and Deleted Scene from IRON MAN 3; Check out The Wasp in Early AVENGERS Animatic

We’re going to throw a variety of Marvel news at you this morning.  First up, Joss Whedon fans know he’s not shy about killing off characters.  He did it with Coulson (Clark Gregg) in The Avengers, but the character managed a resurrection for the upcoming Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.  But when it comes to other heroes, Whedon tells EW that Marvel is wary of knocking off its moneymakers.  “I’d have to have a really good reason, a really great sequence for [Marvel executives] to go, ‘We’ll cut off a potential franchise, that’s fine!’”, says Whedon. “They know as any good studio does, that without some stakes, some real danger, how involved can we get?”  The writer-director continued, “We don’t just rule it out across the board, but neither is the mission statement ‘Who can we kill?’ We try to build the story organically and go, ‘How hard can we make it on these people?’ You go to the movies to see people you love suffer-that’s why you go to the movies.”  Personally, I would love it if a nothing superhero from the Marvel universe popped up at the beginning of The Avengers: Age of Ultron and was immediately annihilated.

Deleted Scene from GAME OF THRONES: Season 3

HBO has released a deleted scene from the upcoming Game of Thrones: Season 3 Blu-ray/DVD.  In the scene, Tywin Lannister (Charles Dance) is in the middle of fishing when he’s confronted by Grand Maester Pycelle (Julian Glover) begging to get his seat back on the high council.  We were shown this scene at Comic-Con, and I loved it.  I can kind of understand why it was cut since every episode packs in so much material, and this scene doesn’t drive the plot forward.  However, it completely changes our perception of Pycelle through a surprising and dramatic reveal.  That’s not to mention the terrific performances from Dance and Glover.  While it may not have been deemed essential by the showrunners, I’m glad that fans will still get a chance to see it.

Ben Kingsley Runs through His Accents in New Deleted Scene from IRON MAN 3

I have a tough time deciding which part of Ben Kingsley‘s Iron Man 3 performances I enjoy more: the Mandarin side or the Trevor side.  Earlier this week, we got a deleted scene featuring the former, and now we have one with the latter.  The scene shows the hapless Trevor going through a host of accents at Rhodey’s (Don Cheadle) request.  It’s pretty funny, but there’s a huge missed opportunity to have Trevor to do an Indian accent.

Deleted Scene from IRON MAN 3 Featuring Ben Kingsley as “The Mandarin” [UPDATED with Gag Reel]

I almost feel like whenever we refer to Ben Kingsley as “The Mandarin”, quotes are now required to indicate the misleading name of the character.  Some people will never forgive the movie for the bait-and-switch because they wanted to see the Mandarin from the comics, which they were probably never going to get in the movie Iron Man world Marvel had been established.  There wasn’t going to be a guy with ten magic rings, and while I understand Iron Man 3 had a radical reinvention of the character for the screen, it was still highly entertaining.  For those who can’t get enough of co-writer and director Shane Black‘s take on the character, a deleted scene from the upcoming Iron Man 3 Blu-ray has been released online, and it features Kingsley in his hammy Mandarin persona.

Deleted Scene from WRECK-IT RALPH; Director Rich Moore Talks about His Ideas for the Sequel

A deleted scene has been released from Disney’s Wreck-It Ralph.  In my review, I expressed my disappointment that Ralph didn’t go to more gaming worlds.  This scene hints at a game called Extreme EZ Livin’ 2, but it doesn’t actually go there.  In the scene, a Matthew McConaughey-esque character tries to persuade Ralph to break out of prison and take the both of them to the gaming paradise, but director Rich Moore says it would have added an extra half-hour to the movie, and done so late in the picture.  That also wouldn’t have solved my problem, which was spending too much time in Sugar Rush.  Still, Moore hasn’t given up on EZ Livin (which he sees as “The Sims meets Grand Theft Auto“), and might bring it back for the sequel.

Deleted Scene from THIS IS 40 Starring Paul Rudd, Leslie Mann, Robert Smigel, and Annie Mumolo

A deleted scene from This Is 40 has been released online.  The film is a spin-off of Knocked Up and follows married couple Pete (Paul Rudd) and Debbie (Leslie Mann) as they deal with marriage and family.  I’m surprised this scene was cut since it’s emblematic of the film: it’s intermittently funny, it goes on way too long, and it’s mostly the actors riffing on a topic intended to be too blunt for the audience to handle (Anal sex in a handicapped bathroom stall!  Edgy!)  If you saw the movie this past weekend and still can’t get enough, then this clip is for you.

New Deleted Scene from TALLADEGA NIGHTS

TALLADEGA NIGHTS slice

Just in case you needed a little more American pride to conclude your 4th of July holiday, this deleted scene from Talladega Nights is nine minutes of Will Ferrell, Chris Isaak, and John C. Reilly as Ricky’s often-ignored sidekick Cal singing about how “if you’re born in America, you’re already number 1.”  The scene wasn’t on the DVD or in the theatrical version, which is a pity because it’s hilarious.  Do you love this country so much it makes your eyes bleed, or because you can start a militia if you have to, or because you are like Ricky and are also aroused by Betsy Ross?  Then you should probably just watch this deleted scene already.
