David Slade Twilight slice

On December 4th, and just in time for the holiday season, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse will be released on DVD, Blu-Ray and combo pack. Much to the satisfaction of all the loyally dedicated fans, the two-disc special edition of the third installment in the wildly popular, $2 billion franchise features a six-part behind the scenes documentary, along with deleted and extended scenes, a photo gallery, music videos, and audio commentary from Robert Pattinson & Kristen Stewart and Stephenie Meyer & Wyck Godfrey.

Earlier today, Collider had the opportunity to do an exclusive interview with director David Slade, in which he talked about all of the special features and extras that even the most hardcore fans are sure to enjoy, how every aspect of making the film was daunting, that one of his favorite scenes was the kitchen scene between Bella (Kristen Stewart) and Charlie (Billy Burke), and how he doesn’t judge a film by it’s financial or critical success, but rather how closely it achieves his original vision. He also said that he’s currently narrowing down what he’s going to be working on next, and that all of his choices are very different from his previous work. Check out what he had to say after the jump:

M. Night Shyamalan, Dev Patel, Jackson Rathbone and Nicola Peltz Interviews – THE LAST AIRBENDER Director and Cast On 3D, Video Games, Bollywood and Saying Goodbye To TWILIGHT

There’s never been anything small about M. Night Shyamalan’s career.  As a mostly unknown 27-year-old filmmaker, his first studio film, Wide Awake, received a splashy March 15, 1998 premiere at New York’s Ziegfeld Theater with an introduction by sitting Vice-President Al Gore.  At age 29, his next film, The Sixth Sense stunned audiences around the world and reaped global grosses of $672 million along with two personal Oscar nominations for Shyamalan.  Later that year, his first screenplay for a studio film that he didn’t direct, Stuart Little, took in $300 million, worldwide.  Shyamalan’s next five films grossed $1.1 billion, worldwide.  The critical reception may have cooled over his past few films, but it served to shoot the stakes even higher for his new film, The Last Airbender, which opens today.  However, Shyamalan gives off the sense that he wouldn’t be happy with anything less than a monumental challenge.

Collider caught up with Shyamalan and some of his cast this week.  Hit the jump for the highlights from roundtable interviews with Shyamalan, Dev Patel, Jackson Rathbone and Nicola Peltz, including Shyamalan on his long, strange trip to 3D, Patel on Bollywood’s “God-awful” yet bankable movies, Rathbone on scoring his perfect Girlfriend and Shyamalan on why he doesn’t want “two feet tall Daniel Day-Lewises.”

Exclusive: Producer Wyck Godfrey on THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE, BREAKING DAWN, Other Projects, Ultimate Twilight DVD Box Set

Producer Wyck Godfrey slice

With The Twilight Saga: Eclipse finally in theaters, it’s time to post my final interview and it’s with producer Wyck Godfrey.  As the producer of all the Twilight movies, Godfrey is in the unique position to be able to talk about the franchise in a way the actors and even the directors can’t. After all, while an actor might be able to talk about filming a certain scene or what it was like for them working with the director, Godfrey is the person who can explain why they chose to film a certain way or why they wanted a certain actor or director to be a part of the franchise.  To put it simply: producers are the ones with all the answers.

Anyway, during the interview Godfrey talks about making Eclipse and what fans can expect on the DVD/Blu-ray.  We also talked a lot about Breaking Dawn including how they’ll be filming it in Louisiana and Vancouver, how long does he expect the movies to be, how did they get Bill Condon to direct them, and a lot more on the next two films.  We also talked about the eventual ultimate DVD/Blu-ray box set for Twilight, his other projects with Channing Tatum and Amy Adams, and way more than I can put in this intro.  It’s a great interview so take a look:

With The Twilight Saga: Eclipse finally getting released in a few days, it’s finally time to post the exclusive interviews I did at the junket a few weeks back.  While I debated who to post first…I decided to go with screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg.

During the extended interview she discussed how working for director David Slade was different than Catherine Hardwicke and Chris Weitz, how much time she’s spent writing all the Twilight films, what was cut out of Eclipse, and regarding Breaking Dawn…I asked her how long she knew it was going to be two films, when exactly did she start writing the films, what was her reaction to Bill Condon directing the final installments, how has she been working with Condon on the script, and we ended the interview talking about with the 4th book being the most controversial among the fans, how is it for her to tackle the writing.  She talks about how some fans want an R rating and she explains why it doesn’t have to be so graphic.

If you’re a fan of the Twilight films, I promise you’ll love the interview.  Watch it after the jump and look for more exclusive Twilight interview tomorrow night:

Kristen Stewart Video Interview THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE; Also Talks ON THE ROAD and BREAKING DAWN

Kristen Stewart video interview The Twilight Saga Eclipse slice

Like I said in the intro to the Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner video interviews, today was the big press junket for The Twilight Saga: Eclipse here in Los Angeles.  While studios usually only let you use audio recorders for press conferences, Summit let us use video.  This means you get to watch the cast talk rather than having to read it.  I can only hope this is the beginning of more studios letting us use video.

Anyway, the second person in the room was Kristen Stewart and like you’ll see on the video, she was in great spirits and definitely excited to be talking about Eclipse.  And after seeing it last night, I know why.  It’s because the film is the best one yet as it’s loaded with action and the effects are much better than the previous two films.  The movie felt like everyone involved was comfortable in their roles and I really think fans will love it.

Anyway, during the press conference Stewart talked about playing Bella, working with David Slade and the close-ups, her career, Bella’s wedding dress, when did she know Breaking Dawn would be two movies and how long is the shoot (6 months), are either Jacob or Edward actually good choices, her next movie On the Road, and so much more.  It’s a great interview so take a look:

UPDATE: I’ve also posted the full transcript, so you can either read or watch the interview!

Taylor Lautner video interview The Twilight Saga Eclipse slice

If you’re a fan of the Twilight movies, today was Christmas.  That’s because earlier today was the Los Angeles press junket for The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, and in attendance was almost the entire cast as well as the filmmakers.   I caught a press screening last night and can tell you Eclipse is my favorite of the trilogy as it’s got the most action, the best special effects, and it’s actually got a few funny lines.  Quite simply: it looks like Summit spent a lot of money making Eclipse and I think fans are going to love it.

Just a few moments ago I posted the press conference with Robert Pattinson, and now I’ve got the one with Taylor Lautner.  During the 24 minute press conference, Lautner talked about filming the action, what kind of kisser is Bella, his future projects like Abduction and Stretch Armstrong, Breaking Dawn, working with Tom Cruise at the MTV VMA’s, has he ever been in a love triangle, has he met Bill Condon, and Lautner admits he’s never missed an episode of American Idol.  Hit the jump to watch the interview:

Robert Pattinson Twilight Eclipse slice

Earlier today was the first major press day for The Twilight Saga: Eclipse.  While other press tours for the Twilight movies have started in other countries, for Eclipse, Summit elected to start to press tour here in Los Angeles.  Thankfully, I got an invite, and after the jump you can watch the Robert Pattinson press conference on video!  While studios are usually very strict about recording devices during press conferences, Summit allowed us to record the press day anyway we wanted.  Big props to Summit for letting us use video!

Anyway, during the almost 30 minute press conference, Rob talked about what drives him as an actor, what was it like to work more closely with Taylor Lautner in Eclipse, what’s up with his music and will he contribute anymore of it to future Twilight soundtracks, does he check the fansites, how much does he prepare for his scenes with Kristen Stewart, he talked about his future projects like Bel Ami, Water for Elephants, Unbound Captives, training for the fight scenes, when did he find out Breaking Dawn would be two films and has he talked to Bill Condon, and SO much more.  If you’re a fan of the Twilight franchise and Rob Pattinson, you’ll love the video.  Take a look:

B-Roll (Behind the Scenes Footage) and On Set Interviews with Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner, Kristen Stewart, Stephenie Meyer, Bryce Dallas Howard and Ashley Greene THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE

The Twilight Saga Eclipse movie poster final slice

With The Twilight Saga: Eclipse getting ready to hit theaters on June 30, Summit Entertainment has released an EPK for the media to use.  If you’re not familiar with the term EPK, it stands for Electronic Press Kit.  An EPK is where the studio puts movie clips, trailers, generic interviews and behind the scenes footage from whatever movie they’re promoting.  With demand for everything Twilight, I figured some of you might like to see the B-Roll and on set interviews with Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner, Kristen Stewart, Stephenie Meyer, Bryce Dallas Howard and Ashley Greene.

Also, this weekend is the big Twilight press junket here in Los Angeles and I’m going to attend the press conferences and I’ve also landed some 1:1 interviews.  Look for a lot more Twilight coverage in the coming days…

First Clip, New Images and Complete Soundtrack Listing for THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE – Updated

THE TWILIGHT SAGA ECLIPSE New Outdoor Banner

In the past 24 hours, Summit has released the first clip, new images, and the complete soundtrack listing for The Twilight Saga: Eclipse.  Also, later today, Oprah is doing an entire episode on Twilight, so the release of all this new promotional material has clearly been timed.

The good news for Twilight fans is the buzz on Eclipse is quite high, with a source telling me it’s the best film in the series so far.  But with the movie featuring a number of action sequences, it would make sense that people would like the third chapter the best.  Still no word on whether or not Breaking Dawn will be two movies, but I’m pretty sure any day we’ll hear that it is.  After all, the fans want it.  The studio wants it.  All that has to be worked out is what kind of money they have to pay the actors.  Hit the jump for clip, images, and soundtrack listing:

UPDATE: Summit just released a new banner for Eclipse.  It’s the new thumbnail above. Click for high-res.

Exclusive: Producer Wyck Godfrey on THE TWILIGHT SAGA: NEW MOON, ECLIPSE and BREAKING DAWN

by     Posted: November 19th, 2009 at 10:25 pm

Wyck_Godfrey_image.jpg

While many fans of The Twilight Saga just want to hear Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson talk about the mega-successful franchise, the person who can give you the news you really want is producer Wyck Godfrey.  Stewart and Pattinson star in the film, but they aren’t the ones making the big decisions about the franchise, and they definitely aren’t the ones who can tell you if Breaking Dawn is going to be two movies, or if the teaser trailer for Eclipse will be on New Moon.  But Wyck Godfrey can.  And that’s why at The Twilight Saga: New Moon press junket, I specifically requested an interview to talk with him.

After the jump is my extended conversation with the man bringing the Twilight movies to the big screen.  We talked about the constant demand by fandom for knowing everything now, could David Slade or Chris Weitz be brought back for Breaking Dawn, does he think Breaking Dawn could be two movies (“it’s certainly possible,” he says), is the Eclipse trailer on New Moon, piracy talk, and if he and the other producers already have plans for Comic-Con 2010.  It’s cool if you love hearing from Pattinson and Stewart, but this interview with Godfrey is the one that Twilight shouldn’t miss.

Exclusive: Screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg Interview THE TWILIGHT SAGA: NEW MOON

by     Posted: November 17th, 2009 at 5:14 pm

Melissa_Rosenberg.jpg

As I wrote this summer when I posted my exclusive Comic-Con interview with The Twilight Saga screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg, she has the difficult task of trying to bring Stephanie Meyer’s insanely popular book series to the screen. So while writing any movie is difficult, writing one that has so many passionate and knowledgeable fans is taking it another level. Luckily for her, the Twilight fans I’ve spoken with have really enjoyed her work and are anxiously awaiting the sequels.

When I spoke to Melissa Rosenberg a few months ago we talked about how the increased budget changed the way she writes and what did she have to edit out of books two and three to make them into movies.  This time I decided to ask about her reaction to watching New Moon, has she seen any of Eclipse, who came up with the way to keep Rob Pattinson in the movie as a ghost-type image, and I also tried to find out, hypothetically speaking, if she thinks more would have to be changed from the book in the eventual fourth movie, Breaking Dawn.  I also asked if she has an opinion on Breaking Dawn being two movies.  If you’re a fan of The Twilight Saga, you’ll love the interview.  Take a look after the jump:
