The animated series TRON: Uprising, debuting with a special preview on the Disney Channel on May 18th before premiering on Disney XD on June 7th, takes place after the 1982 feature film and before the events in TRON: Legacy. Produced in CG animation with a 2D aesthetic, the series follows the heroic journey of a new character named Beck (voiced by Elijah Wood), a young program who becomes the unlikely leader of a revolution inside the computer world of The Grid.  You can watch the first episode here.

At the press day for this highly anticipated new show, actress Emmanuelle Chriqui, who voices Paige, General Tesler’s (voiced by Lance Henriksen) confident and polished field commander, talked about how blown away she was by the look of the entire series, having been familiar with the original TRON film, what attracted her to the role, how Paige is much more than just a villain, the process of building the character’s persona, and what she enjoys about voice-over work. She also talked about how she’d love to do a live-action action movie, what she looks for in a role, playing a recurring character on the CBS drama series The Mentalist, and the current status of the Entourage movie. Check out what she had to say after the jump:

While fans of TRON may be holding their breath waiting for a sequel to 2010′s TRON: Legacy, Disney XD aims to hold you over with their futuristic animated series, TRON: Uprising.  With the debut of the first episode set to air on the network tomorrow (unless you’ve already watched it here), Disney has released a behind-the-scenes featurette with tons of footage and some great cast commentary from the recent press junket. We were lucky enough to bring you interviews with stars Elijah Wood, who plays Beck, and Mandy Moore, who voices Mara.

TRON: Uprising also stars Emmanuelle Chriqui, Nate Corddry, Lance Henriksen, Reginald VelJohnson, Paul Reubens, Tricia Helfer and, of course, Bruce Boxleitner. The first episode, “Beck’s Beginning,” will air Friday, May 18 (9:30 – 10:00 p.m., ET/PT) with an uninterrupted encore on Disney XD on Monday, May 21 (7:00 p.m. ET/PT), followed by the series launch on Thursday, June 7 (9:00 p.m.).  Hit the jump to see the featurette.

New Trailer for Disney’s Animated Series TRON: UPRISING [Updated]

Disney’s new animated series, TRON: Uprising, released a new trailer in preparation for its launch date this June.  Earlier this month, we brought you a new poster and some footage, along with a TV spot and a new image.  The new trailer, however, gives us a better sense of the conflict in the world and what the characters’ roles are within it.  The animation reminds me a bit of the style of Peter Chung (Aeon Flux, Reign: The Conqueror); make of that what you will since it’s not exactly for everyone.  TRON: Uprising features the voices of Elijah Wood, Mandy Moore, Emmanuelle Chriqui, Lance Henriksen, Paul Reubens, Reginald VelJohnson and Bruce Boxleitner and debuts June 7th. Hit the jump to check out the new trailer. [Update: Disney XD has announced when you can see a special prelude to the series.  More after the jump.]

New TV Spot and Image from the Animated Series TRON: UPRISING

Tron-Uprising-image-slice

Last week, we showed you a poster and some brief footage from the upcoming animated TV series, TRON: Uprising, and now a new TV spot and image have gone online.  The series takes place between 1982′s TRON and 2010′s TRON: Legacy.  In the animated series, the protagonist, a program named Beck (voiced by Elijah Wood), starts an uprising (the title isn’t misleading!) in the fight against Clu and his second-in-command, General Tesler (Lance Henriksen).  Beck was previously trained to fight by Tron (Bruce Boxleitner), but then Tron disappeared.

TRON: Uprising will have to carry the TRON brand while Disney mulls giving the greenlight to TRON 3, but I don’t know how interesting the series can be since Beck’s “uprising” clearly didn’t do much to stop Clu.  Then again, Star Wars: The Clone Wars is ridiculously popular, and everyone knows how that story ends.  TRON obviously has a lot more work to do to build up that kind of audience, but at least there’s a precedent.  Hit the jump to check out the TV spot and image.  The show also features the voices of Emmanuelle Chriqui, Mandy Moore, Paul Reubens, Nate Corddry, and Reginald VelJohnson. TRON: Uprising premieres on Disney XD in June.

If you’ve been wondering what’s the status of Tron: Uprising, you’ll be happy to learn the show premieres this June on Disney XD.  Featuring the voices of Elijah Wood, Emmanuelle Chriqui, Mandy Moore, Paul Reubens, Nate Corddry, Lance Henriksen, and Bruce Boxleitner, Tron: Uprising covers the events between the original TRON and Tron: Legacy.  The series is directed and executive produced by Charlie Bean (Samurai Jack) with Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz (the writers of Tron: Legacy) acting as consulting producers.

With the show premiering soon, a poster and some new footage has hit the net and it features our first real look at the series.  If you thought Tron: Uprising was going to look like the first trailer, you might be a bit disappointed.  But as someone that loves the world of Tron and is still hoping for another sequel, I can’t wait to watch the series.  Hit the jump for more.

A few weeks ago we brought you footage from the first trailer for Cartoon Network’s rebooted Thundercats animated series. Today, we have what seems to be casting confirmation from the new voice of Panthro, Kevin Michael Richardson (The Cleveland Show). While discussing the upcoming series, Richardson claims that the voice of Lion-O is being provided by Will Friedle. Probably best known (by me at least) for his turn as Eric Matthews in ABC’s long-running sitcom Boy Meets World, Friedle also has an extensive amount of voice acting credits under his belt with series’ such as Batman: The Brave and the Bold, Batman Beyond, and Kim Possible.

In addition to Richardson and Friedle, Emmanuelle Chriqui also revealed that she is lending her pipes to an unidentified character for the new-look Thundercats via her recent interview with us. For more on what Richardson had to say about the series, hit the jump to check out his video interview.

UPDATE: We’ve confirmed with the studio that Emmanuelle Chriqu is the voice of Cheetara.

In Elektra Luxx, the follow-up to writer/director Sebastian Gutierrez’s 2009 film Women in Trouble, actress Emmanuelle Chriqui plays Bambi, a sexy stripper who has gone on a getaway trip to Mexico with her best friend, Holly Rocket (Adrianne Palicki). While away, porn star Holly Rocket decides to finally get up the courage to tell Bambi how she really feels about her, truly shocking the unexpecting Bambi.

At the film’s press day, Emmanuelle Chriqui did this exclusive interview with Collider, where she talked about revisiting this character, how much she has enjoyed working with Adrianne Palicki, and how Sebastian Gutierrez is great to work with because he just innately understands her, as a person. She also talked about voicing a character on the ThunderCats reboot on Cartoon Network (update: we’ve spoken to the studio and confirmed it’s Cheetara) and the Tron: Uprising animated series (set to air on Disney XD in the summer of 2012, with a preview on the DVD/Blu-ray release of Tron: Legacy), her role on the upcoming Showtime series The Borgias, and what she’d like to see happen with her character on the last season of the HBO series Entourage. Teaser Trailer for Disney XD Animated Series TRON: UPRISING; TRON: LEGACY Score to Get Remix

by     Posted: March 3rd, 2011 at 7:43 am

tron-uprising-tv-show-image-slice-01

After TRON: Legacy landed with a thud, I’ve found it difficult to care about where the story goes from here.  However, Disney still believes in their black-and-neon franchise and they’re moving forward with the new animated series TRON: Uprising.  The series will air on Disney XD in summer 2012 and cover the events between the original TRON and Legacy.  A teaser trailer for the series has gone online and if you loved TRON: Legacy, then you’ll probably love this too.  It has light cycles and stuff.

More promising is an upcoming remix of TRON: Legacy‘s outstanding score.  Pitchfork reports that Disney will release Tron: Legacy R3CONFIGUR3D on April 5th and it will feature M83, Photek, Moby, Com Truise, and others remixing Daft Punk’s score.  The remix soundtrack is available to buy in various special editions on the score’s official website.  Hit the jump to check out the TRON: Uprising trailer and the track list for Tron: Legacy R3CONFIGUR3D.

The trailer for Girl Walks into a Bar has gone online.  The film has an impressive cast that includes Carla Gugino, Zachary Quinto, Danny DeVito, Josh Hartnett, Rosario Dawson, Alexis Bledel, and Robert Forster.  Based solely on the trailer, I have no idea was to what the movie’s about.  But Girl‘s hook doesn’t seem to be it’s cast or its story, but rather its distribution method.  Girl Walks into a Bar will be presented by Lexus and YouTube for free, exclusively on YouTube.  The money quote in the press release comes from Lexus VP of Marketing Dave Nordstrom:

“It seems fitting to support this initiative as we launch our most unconfined vehicle yet—the CT 200h hybrid —in a space that we know will reach an unconventional, sophisticated audience.” (emphasis mine)

Clearly, Mr. Nordstrom has never been on YouTube.  Hit the jump to check out the trailer, four images from the film, and the full press release.  Girl Walks into a Bar goes online March 11th.

Trailer for ELEKTRA LUXX Starring Carla Gugino

It’s been sitting on the shelf for a little while, but Elektra Luxx, the sequel to director Sebastian Gutierrez’s 2009 film Women in Trouble, finally has a trailer.  The film stars Carla Gugino as a former porn star who agrees to seduce a woman’s fiancée but ends up getting drawn into a world of wacky intrigue.  In addition to Gugino, the film’s got a great cast which includes Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Timothy Olyphant, Adrianne Palicki, Emmanuelle Chriqui, Marley Shelton, and Malin Akerman.  But the real reason to see it is Gugino in skimpy clothing.

Hit the jump to check out the trailer.  Elektra Luxx is due out March 11th.

Rumored Candidates to Replace Megan Fox in TRANSFORMERS 3 Include Gemma Arterton, Ashley Greene, Zoe Saldana, and Other Ridiculously Hot Women

by     Posted: May 19th, 2010 at 9:40 pm

Are you a hot actress?  Are you not even an actress but still really hot?  Good news!  With the departure of Megan Fox from Transformers 3, the rumor mill has kicked into high gear about who could be playing Sam Witwicky’s new love interest.  The Wrap says Gemma Arterton (Clash of the Titans) is the front-runner to replace Fox but supermodels Bar Rafaeli, Miranda Kerr and Brooklyn Decker are also in the running.  AICN broadens the field by adding Zoe Saldana, Hayden Panetierre, Vanessa Hudgens, Amber Heard, Camilla Belle, Emmanuelle Chriqui, Ashley Greene, Julianne Hough (Dancing with the Stars), Jessica Lowndes, and (yet another model) Rosie Huntington-Whiteley to the names under consideration.

I have no idea who will be chosen.  I don’t really care because I believe that none of these women are being considered for their acting talent, whether they have any or not.  With that in mind, I’ve just included a gallery of all of them after the jump so you can decide who’s the most attractive.  I’m reasonably sure the producers are using the same criteria.  Oh, and once again: these names are all rumored.

WOMEN IN TROUBLE DVD Review

by     Posted: March 2nd, 2010 at 9:06 am

Women In Trouble movie image.jpg

The first big questions that popped into my head when I heard of the movie Women in Trouble were who in the world is Sebastian Gutierrez, and how in the world did he get Carla Gugino, Connie Britton, Adrianne Palicki, Emmanuelle Chriqui and Marley Shelton to all star in his movie?

And, more amazingly, how did he get them to play a pregnant porn star, two call girls and a stewardess about to join the mile high club in an airplane toilet? Well, having watched this, I’m still not sure how he managed to pull any of it off, but I can tell you that what he came up with is a little indie comedy that borrows extremely liberally from Pedro Almodovar and Robert Altman.

Hit the jump to find out whether or not any of this works on DVD.
