The first trailer for the Coen Brothers’ Inside Llewyn Davis is now available. The story centers on the titular folk singer/songwriter, played by Oscar Isaac, who struggles to find his way in New York’s Greenwich Village in the 1960s. The trailer shows us that, although he’s not overtly a ne’er-do-well, everyone around him sure does seem to despise him quite a bit. Llewyn’s lover Jean Berkey (Carey Mulligan) is particularly vicious while John Goodman’s character appears to be more of a curmudgeonly businessman/agent type, with some apparent health problems.
Also starring Justin Timberlake, Garret Hedlund, Adam Driver and F. Murray Abraham, Inside Llewyn Davis opens later this year. Hit the jump to see the trailer.
Although Jack Kerouac’s novel On the Road was published more than fifty years ago, there has never been a film adaptation of it. All that changed when producer Francis Ford Coppola and The Motorcycle Diaries director Walter Salles signed on, adding Garret Hedlund (Tron: Legacy) as the starring role of Dean Moriarty. Now we have a look at the first trailer from the film, which is set to open in France this May with a possible domestic distribution pick up if and when the film premiers at Cannes (May 16th – May 27th). The Beat generation road trip film also stars Kristen Stewart, Sam Riley, Amy Adams, Kirsten Dunst, Viggo Mortensen, Tom Sturridge, Danny Morgan, Alice Braga and Elisabeth Moss. MTV News recently sat down with Joseph Kosinski, director of Tron Legacy, the highly anticipated sequel (that’s sequel, not remake) to Disney’s 1982 cult classic, Tron. The first film starred Jeff Bridges as Kevin Flynn, a software engineer who is digitized and imprisoned in a computer mainframe by an evil computer program and compelled, along with a number of other programs, to do battle with this evil program and its minions for control of the computer system. The film was considered quite groundbreaking for its use of computer graphics to simulate a completely digital environment.
Tron Legacy will take place about 30 years later and focus on Flynn’s son and his voyage into the land of Tron in search of his missing father. It’ll star Garrett Hedlund (Friday Night Lights, Four Brothers) and Olivia Wilde (TV’s House) and will see Jeff Bridges reprise his role from the first film along with the original Tron himself, Bruce Boxleitner. The film is being shot in 3D.
In the interview, first-time director Kosinski, who is still hard at work on the film, talks about the technology he’s been using, the new story and how Tron stars Jeff Bridges and Bruce Boxleitner factor into things, and working with techno/electro band Daft Punk on the score. Hit the jump for some of the highlights. Tron Legacy is currently slated for a December 17, 2010 release date.
