Universal Pictures has released a final trailer for Fast Five director Justin Lin’s sequel Fast & Furious 6, and it’s chock-full of summer blockbuster goodness. This trailer does a great job of showing off the film’s ginormous scale, as we get some extended looks at Lin’s many action sequences. Car chases through the streets of Europe, brutal fistfights in which The Rock pulls some legit wrestling moves, and a car chase/fight sequence involving a tank are all things we can look forward to with Fast & Furious 6. Producer Neal Moritz recently told us that the film features two or three of “the best action sequences you will ever see” and noted that Fast 6 is the best film of the series yet. We’ll get a chance to judge for ourselves in a few short weeks, but this trailer definitely makes the film look like one hell of a ride.
Hit the jump to watch the trailer. The film stars Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Dwayne Johnson, Jordana Brewster, Michelle Rodriguez, Ludacris, Tyrese Gibson, Joe Taslim, Sung Kang, Gina Carano, and Luke Evans. Fast & Furious 6 opens on May 24th.

Hobbs recruits Dom (Vin Diesel) and his crew to help bring down the criminal outfit, and in exchange will provide pardons for the Rio heist. A new theatrical trailer for Fast & Furious 6 has been released online. Though the supervillain for Fast & Furious 7 may have already been spoiled, we still have director Justin Lin’s eminent sequel to look forward to in the immediate future. The film moves the action of the franchise across the pond to Europe, where Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson) is trying to stop a group of mercenary drivers led by an unnamed mastermind (Luke Evans) and Letty (Michelle Rodriguez). Hobbs recruits Dom (Vin Diesel) and his crew to help bring down the criminal outfit, and in exchange will provide pardons for the Rio heist. This trailer is essentially a shorter, edited version of the first full trailer, but it’s still a fun watch if only for the reminder that we’ll be seeing a car explode out the front of a plane in the film.
Hit the jump to watch the new trailer. The film also stars Paul Walker, Jordana Brewster, Tyrese Gibson, Sung Kang, Gal Gadot, Chris Bridges, Elsa Pataky, and Gina Carano. Fast & Furious 6 opens May 24th.

Over the past few months, we’ve heard a number of different titles (Fast Six, Furious 6) for the 6th installment in the Fast and Furious franchise. But thanks to the studio releasing the first poster, we know it’s officially called Fast and Furious 6. While I understand the logic in that title, I think Furious 6 sounds a lot cooler.
As we learned the other day when we posted the synopsis, the new film has Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson) trying to stop a group of mercenary drivers led by an unnamed mastermind (Luke Evans) and Letty (Michelle Rodriguez). Hobbs recruits Dom (Vin Diesel) and his crew to help bring down the criminal outfit, and in exchange will provide pardons for the Rio heist. The film also stars Paul Walker, Jordana Brewster, Tyrese Gibson, Sung Kang, Gal Gadot, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Elsa Pataky, and Gina Carano. Hit the jump to check out the first poster and come back tomorrow to check out the first footage from the film.

The new film has Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson) trying to stop a group of mercenary drivers led by an unnamed mastermind (Luke Evans) and Letty (Michelle Rodriguez). Hobbs recruits Dom (Vin Diesel) and his crew to help bring down the criminal outfit, and in exchange will provide pardons for the Rio heist.

It looks like the all-female version of The Expendables (the one produced by Adi Shankar and written by Dutch Southern) now has some competition: Millenium Films’ The ExpendaBelles, an action picture which recently landed a pair of scribes. Kirsten Smith and Karen McCullah Lutz of Legally Blonde will pen the script for the mercenary movie. The writing duo is responsible for past films like 10 Things I Hate About You, She’s the Man and The House Bunny, so we’ll see if they can up the action in their interpretation. As Deadline reports, The ExpendaBelles should be the first film in an expected franchise. The other as-of-yet untitled all-female version of The Expendables currently has ass-kickers Gina Carano (Haywire) and Katee Sackhoff (Battlestar Galactica) on board. Are there enough action heroines to go around for two of these films?
In related actioner news, Richard Wenk, who co-wrote the screenplay for The Expendables 2, has been tapped to re-write the Masters of the Universe treatment. Hit the jump for more on that story.

Action veteran Katee Sackhoff will put her Battlestar Galactica skills to the test alongside Gina Carano in the all-female version of The Expendables. We previously posted Carano’s attachment to the Adi Shankar production and the news about Sackhoff comes as a welcome addition for sci-fi fans. We’ve yet to see a veteran action heroine added to the cast (ie Sigourney Weaver, Linda Hamilton, etc), but the picture is building a solid young core of experienced action stars to carry what will hopefully be a successful franchise. Hit the jump for more on Sackhoff’s addition and the reaction from Shankar.

Just a short while ago we announced the production of a female version of The Expendables. Now, we have word that up-and-coming action star Gina Carano (Haywire) is set to topline the untitled picture. Carano was briefly mentioned in our fantasy cast for Adi Shankar’s production, which Dutch Southern is writing. The former American Gladiators star certainly has the goods to be the face of the ladies’ version of the franchise, but it would be a missed opportunity not to include some of cinema’s classic action heroines. Hit the jump to see what Shankar had to say about Carano joining the picture.

Steven Soderbergh approached Haywire as a chance to turn Gina Carano into a movie star. As she’s been cast in the next Fast and Furious movie, it’s likely that we’ll see more from her. But Soderbergh approached doing an action movie as an art project, so he played with the structure and style of the modern action film. It’s ambitious, and not entirely successful. But he was right on the money that Carano can carry a movie. Haywire costars Michael Fassbender, Channing Tatum, Ewan McGreggor, Michael Douglas, Antonio Banderas and Bill Paxton, and our review of the Blu-ray follows after the jump.

Movies keep trying to kill Michelle Rodriguez, but luckily she keeps finding a way to come back. Rodriguez is set to return in two sequels: one, a true sequel in Machete Kills and one, the sixth installment in the Fast and the Furious franchise. As for director Robert Rodriguez’s sequel, Michelle Rodriguez will reprise her role as Luz, the leader of an illegal immigrant aid movement known as the Network. She’ll be starring alongside Mel Gibson who recently joined the cast.
The Fast and the Furious 6, which will feature the directorial return of Justin Lin (Fast Five) and, perhaps more importantly, the return of Rodriguez’s character, Letty, something that was teased at the end of the previous film. Shooting next month, The Fast and the Furious 6 also stars Dwayne Johnson, Gina Carano, Jordana Brewster and, of course, Vin Diesel.
