Tuesday TV Ratings: AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. Ticks Up; NEW GIRL Returns to Series Low

Tuesday evening’s TV ratings are in.  Here’s a brief look at the highlights:

  • ABC’s Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. saw a ratings uptick of 5% from last week’s 1.9, scoring a 2.0 rating in the 18-49 demo and bringing in 5.07 million viewers.  Read Evan’s recap here.
  • Over on Fox, New Girl returned from a brief hiatus to a series low 1.1 rating and notched 2.2 million viewers.  The show has lost quite a bit of steam since its debut, but Fox has already ordered a fourth season.
  • On the flipside, NBC’s new series About a Boy saw a rise of 12% from last week’s series low 1.7 rating to a 1.9 rating in the demo and 7.23 million viewers.

Tuesday evening’s TV ratings are in.  Here’s a brief look at the highlights:

  • Despite game-changing events that tied into Captain America: The Winter Soldier, last night’s episode of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. fell three tenths to a new series low 1.7 rating in the 18-49 demo and scored 4.91 million viewers.  Read Evan’s recap here.
  • Elsewhere on ABC, The Goldbergs dipped a tenth to a series low 1.4 rating and 4.3 million viewers, while new comedy Trophy Wife dropped two tenths to a 0.8 rating and scored 2.55 million viewers.

TV ratings for Tuesday, April 1st are in.  Here’s a brief look at the highlights:

  • Despite a (very minor) Captain America: The First Avenger tie-in, the return of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. on ABC fell 14% to a 1.8 rating in the 18-49 demo and scored 5.39 million viewers, tying its series low.  Read Evan’s recap here.
  • Also way down was Fox’s Tuesday offerings.  The Mindy Project returned from an extended hiatus to a 1.0 rating for back-to-back episodes and scored 1.93 and 1.94 million viewers, respectively.  That’s down 33% from a 1.5 rating for its last original episode.  Glee, meanwhile, tied its series low with a paltry 0.9 rating and 2.61 million viewers, dropping 18% from last week’s episode.  That said, both shows have already been renewed.

Tuesday TV Ratings: BROOKLYN NINE-NINE Finale Ticks Up; NEW GIRL Drops to Series Low

TV ratings for Tuesday, March 25th are in.  Here’s a brief rundown:

  • The season finale of Fox’s swell comedy Brooklyn Nine-Nine (it’s already been renewed for season two) rose two tenths to a 1.3 rating in the 18-49 demo and scored 2.59 million viewers.  New Girl, however, dropped a tenth to a new series low 1.2 rating and 2.48 million viewers.  Glee was even with last week’s 1.1 rating and scored 2.72 million viewers.
  • NBC’s About a Boy dipped one tenth to a 2.0 rating and 7.8 million viewers, while Growing Up Fisher was down one tenth to a 1.7 rating and 6.44 million viewers.
  • Over on CBS, NCIS ticked up a tenth to a 2.5 rating and 17.28 million viewers, NCIS: Los Angeles was also up a tenth to a 2.4 rating and 15.48 million viewers, and Person of Interest rose three tenths to a 2.0 rating and 12.25 million viewers.
  • ABC’s Mind Games dipped one tenth to a 0.6 rating and 1.9 million viewers, and The CW’s Supernatural was even with last week’s 0.9 rating and scored 2.11 million viewers.

Tuesday TV Ratings: GLEE and ABOUT A BOY Rise; BROOKLYN NINE-NINE Drops to Series Low

Tuesday evening’s TV ratings are in.  Here’s a brief look at the highlights:

  • NBC’s new comedy About a Boy saw a rise of 10% from last week’s numbers to a 2.2 rating in the 18-49 demo and 7.95 million viewers, no doubt benefiting from The Voice as a lead-in.
  • Also up was Fox’s Glee, which aired its 100th episode celebration to a 1.1 rating and 2.84 million viewers.  That’s up 22% from last week’s series low, but still a far cry from the show’s numbers a few years ago.
  • The Fox comedy Brooklyn Nine-Nine, however, dropped 8% to a series low 1.1 rating and scored 2.50 million viewers.  Its lead-in, New Girl, was a repeat, but both shows have already been renewed to return in the fall.

Fox Grants Early Renewals to BROOKLYN NINE-NINE, THE MINDY PROJECT, NEW GIRL, and THE FOLLOWING

Fox is off to an early start in the renewal game. Here’s a quick look at the comedies that will be returning for another year:

  • Freshman comedy Brooklyn Nine-Nine, starring Andy Samberg, Joe Lo Truglio, Stephanie Beatriz, Chelsea Peretti, Melissa Fumero, Terry Crews and Andre Braugher, will return for a second season.
  • The Mindy Project, starring Mindy Kaling, Chris Messina, Ed Weeks, Ike Barinholtz, Zoe Jarman, and Beth Grant, has been renewed for a third season.
  • New Girl, starring Zooey Deschanel, Max Greenfield, Jake Johnson, Lamorne Morris, and Hannah Simone, will return for a fourth season.
  • As part of its two-year pickup, Glee will enjoy its final season run next year, with Lea Michele and Jane Lynch starring.

Tuesday evening’s TV ratings are in.  Here’s a brief look at the highlights:

  • ABC’s Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. returned to a series low 1.7 rating in the 18-49 demo, scoring 5.11 million viewers.  That’s down 23% from the 2.2 rating from its most recent episode, marking another sharp drop in viewership.  Read Evan’s recap of the episode here.
  • Over on CBS, Person of Interest also scored a series low 1.7 rating and garnered 10.59 million viewers for a drop of 6% from last week’s 1.8 rating.
  • Fox’s Glee continues to be a shadow of its former self, as last night’s episode hit a 1.0 rating and pulled in 2.6 million viewers for a drop of 17% from last week’s 1.2 rating.

Tuesday evening’s TV ratings are in.  Here’s a brief rundown:

  • Both of Fox’s Tuesday comedies were up (with great episodes to boot), as New Girl rose one tenth to a 1.4 rating in the 18-49 demo and scored 2.85 million viewers while Brooklyn Nine-Nine ticked up a tenth to a 1.3 rating and garnered 2.63 million viewers.  Additionally, Glee rose one tenth to a 1.2 rating and brought in 2.92 million viewers
  • Over on CBS, NCIS dropped half a ratings point to a season low 2.6 rating and scored 16.89 million viewers, NCIS: Los Angeles dropped six tenths to a series low-tying 2.2 rating and 13.1 million viewers, and the procedural Person of Interest dropped four tenths from its last original episode to a new series-low 1.7 rating and notched 10.78 million viewers.
  • NBC’s Chicago Fire matched its last episode’s 1.8 rating and scored 7.1 million viewers.
  • The CW’s The Originals dropped a tenth to a 0.8 rating and 1.88 million viewers, and Supernatural rose one tenth to a 1.1 rating and 2.44 million viewers.

GLEE Creator Ryan Murphy Reveals Original Series Finale Idea Involving Cory Monteith

The passing of actor Cory Monteith earlier this year was incredibly sad.  The 31-year-old Glee actor was gone way too soon, and as the heart of the Fox drama/comedy series, a hole was left in the show.  In the latest issue of EW, Glee creator Ryan Murphy penned an essay remembering Monteith.  In the text of the essay, Murphy reveals the idea he had always envisioned as the final moment of the series, which involved Monteith and his co-star Lea Michele.  It would have been a fitting end to the quirky series, but it sadly will not come to pass.  Read on after the jump.

  • Over on CBS, The Big Bang Theory earned a season low 4.6 rating and 15.26 million viewers, dropping a whopping seven tenths from its last original episode’s 5.3 rating.

  • The third season premiere of ABC’s Scandal notched a very impressive 3.6 rating in the 18-49 demo and 10.5 million viewers, scoring all-time highs in both categories and soaring a massive 71% from last year’s season opener.
  • Fox’s Glee was down yet again, hitting a 1.6 rating and 4.5 million viewers for a drop of 20% from last week’s season premiere.
  • Over on The CW, The Vampire Diaries returned to a 1.2 rating and 2.6 million viewers, which is down a hefty 25% from last year’s season premiere.

Thursday evening’s TV ratings are in.  Here’s a brief look at the highlights:

  • CBS’ new Robin Williams comedy series The Crazy Ones premiered big with a 4.0 rating in the 18-49 demo and 15.6 million viewers, topping NBC’s premiere of The Michael J. Fox Show.
  • The absolutely fantastic London-set hourlong premiere of Parks and Recreation was sadly down quite a bit from last year’s 1.7 premiere rating, hitting a 1.3 rating and 3.3 million viewers.
  • Also down was NBC’s Parenthood season premiere, which scored a 1.6 rating and 5.2 million viewers in its new timeslot.  That’s a drop of 16% from last year’s premiere rating of 1.9.
  • Unsurprisingly, The Big Bang Theory notched a massive 5.6 rating and 18.9 million viewers.  That’s up considerably from last year’s already-big 5.0 premiere rating.

Fox Announces Fall Premiere Dates; Tuesday Comedies Kick Off Early; ALMOST HUMAN Premieres November 4th

Fox has announced the premiere dates for its fall programming, and the network is getting a jump on its rivals by kicking off a number of its shows a week early.  Here are some highlights:

  • Bones returns on Monday, September 16th followed by the debut of Sleepy HollowBones will then move to Fridays on November 8th, when a new series takes over its Monday slot.
  • The Tuesday night comedy lineup of Seth MacFarlane’s live-action Dads, the Andy Samberg-starrer Brooklyn Nine-Nine, and returning series New Girl and The Mindy Project begins on Tuesday, September 17th.
  • Glee kicks off its fifth season on Thursday, September 19th.
  • The Animation Domination block of The Simpsons, Bob’s Burgers, Family Guy, and American Dad returns with all new episodes on Sunday, September 29th.
  • The new drama series from executive producers J.J. Abrams and J.H. Wyman, titled Almost Human, gets a delayed premiere on Monday, November 4th, taking over Bones’ timeslot.
  • Raising Hope doesn’t return until Friday, November 8th, where it will be followed by the new comedy series Enlisted.
