It’s been less than a week since this year’s Oscars, but The Weinstein Company has already set fall release dates for four of next year’s contenders. And with Meryl Streep in the mix, it’s safe to say that Harvey “Thanked More Than God” Weinstein’s chances are looking good. So what’s on tap? Check it out below:

Fruitvale – This Sundance darling (read our review), the true story of a 22-year-old Bay Area resident who was shot to death in the early hours of Jan. 1, 2009, will open October 18.
August: Osage County – A family comes together after their alcoholic patriarch goes missing in this adaptation of Tracy Lett’s comedic play, which is slated for November 8.
Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom – Idris Elba portrays Nelson Mandela in this film based on the South African president’s 1995 autobiography, scheduled for November 29.
Grace of Monaco – Nicole Kidman steps into the shoes of the legendary Hollywood star who became a princess in this film, which opens on December 27.

Hit the jump for more on each of the movies, as well as their release dates.

Box Office Mojo reports that Fruitvale, which premiered earlier this year at Sundance, will kick off the studio’s awards season on October 18. After this year’s snub of Chronicle, I can’t wait to see star Michael B. Jordan (who played the ill-fated Steve) in the public eye once again. The film centers on the 2009 police shooting of Oscar Grant (Jordan). The 22-year-old was shot by a BART police ...

Stoker marks the latest in a long line of risky independent pictures for the enduringly talented and ageless Nicole Kidman. The Paperboy, Rabbit Hole, Margot at the Wedding, Birth – Kidman isn’t afraid to take a chance on risky material or art-house filmmakers. In Stoker, Kidman co-stars as Evelyn, the neglectful mother to India, a weird and troubled girl. Evelyn doesn’t know what to make of her daughter – her own flesh and blood a stranger even to herself. After her husband suddenly dies, Evelyn finds herself drawn to her husband’s long-thought-lost brother Charlie, unaware that her brother-in-law only has eyes for her daughter.

In the following interview with Kidman, she discusses her favorite Hitchcock films, working with as meticulous a filmmaker as Park Chan Wook and playing screen icon Grace Kelly in the upcoming Grace of Monaco. For the full interview, hit the jump.

Since the Oscars haven't completely faded my mind yet (give me another 12 hours or so), I'm immediately looking at the Oscar math of Nicole Kidman's upcoming Grace Kelly biopic, Grace of Monaco. You have an Oscar-winner playing an Oscar-winner, and if that isn't enough, Deadline reports that Oscar-addict The Weinstein Company has picked up the film for distribution. The film takes place between December 1961 and November 1962, when Kelly maneuvered behind the scenes as Princess of Monaco to save her nation from political turmoil. The first images from the film have been released, but I would happily accept Kidman holding up a hastily hand-painted sign reading "Noms Pleeze".

Hit the jump to check out the images. The film also stars Paz Vega, Tim Roth, Frank Langella, Parker Posey, Milo Ventimiglia, and Derek Jacobi. Grace of Monaco currently doesn't have a release date, but don't be surprised to see it show up in the festival circuit this fall.

The new original series Chosen, available on Sony’s multi-platform online entertainment network Crackle, is a heart-pounding thriller that follows Ian Mitchell (Milo Ventimiglia, who is also an executive producer on the project), a husband, father and lawyer who discovers a mysterious box on his doorstep that contains a loaded gun and a photo of a stranger he is instructed to kill within the next three days. Transformed into an unwilling assassin, Ian must risk everything to protect his family while looking for a way out of his predicament.

During this recent exclusive interview with Collider, actor/producer Milo Ventimiglia talked about why this web series appealed to him, how he first got involved with Crackle, when he started to see the viability of online programming, how much fun he had exploring such a full arc for his character in only six episodes, and how much he appreciates being in a position where he can contribute more, both creatively and on the business side of things. He also talked about how excited he is to get back to work on Frank Darabont’s crime drama L.A. Noir, picked up by TNT for six episodes. Check out what he had to say after the jump.

Collider: When you read this script, was your immediate reaction that it was something that sounded original and you wanted to do it, or was there any hesitation about pulling it off for a web series?

MILO VENTIMIGLIA: No, there was zero hesitation. When I first read it, I was like, “Wow, ...

In today's casting news, Parker Posey (The House of Yes) and Milo Ventimiglia (Heroes) are poised to join director Olivier Dahan's Grace of Monaco. The biopic, which stars Nicole Kidman as Grace Kelly, centers on the Hollywood star's involvement with Monaco's Prince Rainier III during his financial difficulties under taxation from France's Charles De Gaulle.

We also have word that Kate Bosworth (Superman Returns) has joined Jason Statham and James Franco in Gary Fledler's Homefront. The adaptation of the Chuck Logan book centers on ex-DEA agent Phil Broker (Statham) who moves his family to a small town in hopes of a quieter life. Instead, he runs afoul of a meth-pushing kingpin by the name of Gator (Franco). Hit the jump for more details on these latest casting assignments.

First up from Variety comes word that Posey will star in Grace of Monaco as Madge Tivey-Faucon, Kelly's scheming lady-in-waiting. The article also mentions that Ventimiglia is in negotiations to play Kelly's publicist Rupert Allan, who served as consul general for the principality of Monaco and was made a Chevalier of the Order of Grimaldi in honor of his service by Rainier III in 1989. Grace of Monaco also stars Tim Roth as Rainier, Frank Langella as a helpful priest and Paz Vega as renowned opera singer Maria Callas. Filming is set to begin in France before moving to Belgium.

Heat Vision reports that Bosworth is set to join Homefront as Gator's meth-addicted sister (did not see that one coming). The Sylvester Stallone script has her character inciting a feud between Gator and Broker when her son, a school bully, gets his ass handed to him by Broker's daughter ...

Here's another casting round up for you:

Tim Roth (The Incredible Hulk) and Frank Langella (Robot & Frank) have both landed roles in Grace of Monaco, Olivier Dahan's picture which stars Nicole Kidman as Grace Kelly.
Tobey Maguire (Spider-Man) is set to produce and star in Z for Zacharia, a post-apocalyptic drama from director Craig Zobel (Compliance).
Dale Dickey (True Blood) has been cast in writer/director Shane Black's Iron Man 3, starring Robert Downey Jr.

Hit the jump for all the details.

Variety reports that Grace of Monaco will land Roth as Prince Rainier III, who wedded the American actress, Grace Kelly in 1956. The picture will center five years into their marriage, when the retired Oscar-winning actress-turned-monarch helps the young prince rescue Monaco from a dire tax situation imposed by France's Charles de Gaulle. Langella also stars as Father Tucker, the priest who facilitated the meeting of Rainier III and Kelly, and who continues on into their marriage as an advisor.

Variety also reports on Maguire's involvement with Z for Zacharia, which is based on the novel by Robert C. O'Brien. The 2009 Black List scripted by Nissar Modi centers on a teenage girl who lives alone in a farm that resides in the only valley that still has a breathable atmosphere after a devastating nuclear war. Her peace is shattered when two strangers wander onto her land. Maguire is set to play a scientist who falls ill after drinking from a contaminated stream and is nursed back to health by the protagonist.

Two pieces of casting to close out the night:

Paz Vega will play opera singer Maria Callas in Grace of Monaco, the Grace Kelly biopic led by Nicole Kidman.
Girls scene-stealer Adam Driver will star opposite Daniel Radcliffe and Zoe Kazan in the romantic comedy The F Word.

Hit the jump for details on both projects.

Olivier Dahan (La Vie en Rose) is directing Grace of Monaco based on a script by Arash Amel. Variety provides the logline:

"Set between Dec. 1961 and Nov. 1962, story sees retired starlet Kelly called upon to save Monaco from an escalating situation regarding its standing as a tax haven, with French leader Charles de Gaulle giving her husband, Monaco's Prince Rainier III, six months to reform its tax laws. At the time, Callas was Aristotle Onassis' girlfriend, so while he advised Prince Rainier, she befriended Kelly and became one of her closest confidantes."
There is a separate Maria Callas biopic in the works with Eva Green attached.

Of the many breakout stars on Girls, Driver won the Most Improved award over the course of season one. And so Driver has advanced to the next step in the career of television actor: the best friend in a romantic comedy. Radcliffe and Kazan star in The F Word as two people who meet at a party and have instant chemistry. Unfortunately, Kazan's character has a long-term boyfriend, so they try to maintain a platonic relationship. According to Variety, Driver will play Radcliffe's "brash, ethically dubious confidant, who helps him navigate his romantic ...

A star has finally been chosen to lead the Grace Kelly biopic Grace of Monaco. Variety reports that Nicole Kidman beat out a number of top actresses to take on the coveted role of the gorgeous starlet. La Vie en Rose director Olivier Dahan is onboard to helm Grace of Monaco, and the pic will take place between December 1961 and November 1962, when Kelly maneuvered behind the scenes as Princess of Monaco to save her nation from political turmoil. For those unaware, Kelly only starred in a handful of films before she retired from acting to serve as Monaco’s monarch alongside Prince Rainier III, but she won the Academy Award for Best Actress in The Country Girl and had a memorable turn in Alfred Hitchcock’s Rear Window. Also, she was incredibly beautiful. Hit the jump for more.

Variety notes that the script for Grace of Monaco is already “generating awards buzz,” but I’d say that’s a tad premature. However, the Academy loves them some biopic performances, so Kidman has a decent shot at another Best Actress nomination at the least. The actress hasn’t officially closed her deal to star just yet, but she’s in advanced negotiations to topline the pic.

I think Kidman’s a great talent and a fine choice to take on the Grace Kelly role. She’s certainly got the look down, and I’m eager to see her portray Kelly during one of the most pivotal periods in her life. Kidman next stars in Lee Daniels’ drama The Paperboy and ...

LA VIE EN ROSE Director to Helm Grace Kelly Biopic, GRACE OF MONACO

When I was at the Toronto Film Festival, TIFF Bell Lightbox had a promo in front of every movie promoting their upcoming Grace Kelly exhibit, "Grace Kelly: From Movie Star to Princess". Now it's their festival and they're allowed to promote whatever future event they want, but by the end of the festival, I loathed Grace Kelly. Watching a promo 37 times in nine days will do that. Hopefully, my enmity towards Kelly will have faded by the time Grace of Monaco hits theaters. La vie en rose director Arash Amel is set to helm the film, which will focus on Grace's life in 1962 when she became instrumental in mediating the conflict between French leader Charles De Gaulle and her husband, Monaco's Prince Rainier III.

Hit the jump for more on the project.

According to Deadline, the movie, budgeted at $15 million, will detail Grace's "political maneuvering behind the scenes to save Monaco." She was only 33 at the time, retired from acting at 26, and had won an Oscar for Best Actress by 26. If you're older than 33, you're allowed to now feel bad about your life.

I imagine A-list actresses will be falling over themselves to play Kelly. Michelle Williams has a strong shot at a Best Actress nomination this year for her portrayal of Marilyn Monroe in My Week with Marilyn, and while her performance is a large part of her awards' momentum, it doesn't hurt that she's playing a beloved Hollywood icon. Additionally, the actress who gets ...

Each year, Hollywood releases “The Black List.” The list is a compilation of the “best” unproduced scripts making the rounds of Hollywood, as voted on by hundreds of film executives. Past scripts that have made their way to the list include Diablo Cody’s Juno and Aaron Sorkin's The Social Network. This year, topping the list is Graham Moore’s script for the Alan Turing biopic The Imitation Game. Turning was a mathematician and codebreaker during World War II who was criminally prosecuted for his homosexuality, after which he elected chemical castration over prison, and eventually ended his own life.

The Imitation Game has been in the works for a while, and last we heard Warner Bros. was keen on getting Harry Potter director David Yates to take the helm. Leonardo DiCaprio is also said to have taken a liking to the role of Turing. Also appearing on the list is Matt Damon’s planned directorial debut Father Daughter Time and Chewie, which tells the behind-the-scenes story of Star Wars from the perspective of Peter Mayhew. Hit the jump to peruse the entire list, which includes two Pinocchio projects, a movie about catching a screening of Jurassic Park, and zombies!

Here’s the list in its entirety, courtesy of Deadline. It’s important to note that not all of the scripts are unproduced, as some are currently in different stages of development. A prime example: Quentin Tarantino’s Django Unchained.
The Black List was compiled from the suggestions of over 300 film executives, each of whom contributed the names ...
