they live halloween ii blu ray slice

Shout Factory has become the Criterion Collection for horror and B movies, or – if nothing else – the company that Anchor Bay tried to be on DVD. Recently they’ve released some John Carpenter films that he either produced or directed. They are the magnificent They Live, with “Rowdy” Roddy Piper, Meg Foster and Keith David, and the first two Halloween sequels, Halloween II and Halloween III: Season of the Witch. Our reviews of all these Blu-rays follow after the jump.

Badges for Alamo Drafthouse’s Summer of 1982 Go on Sale Tomorrow; 11 More Movies Added to Line-Up; Plus a Look at Mondo’s E.T. Poster

by     Posted 2 years, 249 days ago

Last month, we reported that the Alamo Drafthouse would be spending this summer honoring the summer of 1982 by holding screenings of Conan the Barbarian, The Road Warrior, Rocky III, Poltergeist, Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial, The Thing, and TRON, with all the movies being presented in 35mm.  Tomorrow, a limited number of badges—priced at $80—will go on sale here at 11am CST and provide admission to all these movies.  The Drafthouse will also be selling tickets to the first movie in the series, Conan the Barbarian, which will play on May 11th.

In addition to the terrific movies that have already been announced, the Drafthouse has added 11 more movies to the summer series: Vice Squad, Escape 2000, The Sword and the Sorcerer, The Secret of Nimh, Pink Floyd: The Wall, Class of 1984, Friday the 13th: Part 3 in 3D, Halloween 3, Q: The Winged Serpent, The Dark Crystal, Fast Times at Ridgemont High, and The Last Unicorn.  The badges won’t cover these movies, so you’ll have to buy tickets.  Hit the jump for the full press release, which includes info on when you can buy tickets for each movie (and you better come to Rocky III since we’re co-hosting it!).  We’ve also included a look at Dan McCarthy’s gorgeous E.T. posters, which will be sold at the E.T. screening with any leftovers being sold online).

Exclusive: Director Patrick Lussier Talks DRIVE ANGRY DVD/Blu-ray, HELLRAISER and HALLOWEEN 3

by     Posted 3 years, 205 days ago

The outrageous action-adventure flick Drive Angry arrives on DVD and Blu-ray in both 2D and 3D on May 31st, with bonus content the includes audio commentary with director Patrick Lussier and writer/actor Todd Farmer, deleted scenes, “Milton’s Mayhem,” through which viewers can track the trail of carnage throughout the film, and an “Access: Drive Angry” special feature (exclusive to the Blu-ray release).

During a recent exclusive phone interview with Collider, Patrick Lussier talked about what fans will get to see on the DVD/Blu-ray, why he enjoys doing filmmaker commentaries, filming such epic car chases and fight sequences on a tight budget, and why bad-ass characters appeal to him. He also talked about how he and Todd Farmer are currently developing their take on Clive Barker’s Hellraiser for a remake, and said that they also hope to be able to do Halloween 3. Check out what he had to say after the jump.

A couple of weeks back we gave you an update on all the sequels, reboots, and remakes that are happening right now over at Bob Weinstein’s Dimension Films. In that update, Bob said that the company wanted to shoot “Halloween 3″ in 3-D with hopes of releasing the film next October.  I’m sure that we will still see a 3rd film, but it seems that the project has now been put on hold.  You can get the details and reason behind this move when you hit the jump.
