Watch: Launch Trailer for HALO 4 Produced by David Fincher

by     Posted 2 years, 62 days ago

The launch trailer for the highly anticipated video game sequel Halo 4 has been released.  The clip was produced by David Fincher and directed by visual effects vet Tim Miller—the guy responsible for that fantastic opening credits sequence in Fincher’s The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.  The Halo 4 trailer is a pretty impressive piece of work, showing off some great effects and intriguing visual cues.  The piece briefly explores the backstory of Master Chief and provides a glimpse of the new threat he/gamers will face in Halo 4.

This doesn’t mark the end of the collaboration between Miller and Fincher, as Miller is also set to co-direct the Fincher-produced CG animated adaptation of The Goon.  Fincher, Miller, and co-director Jeff Fowler recently launched a kickstarter campaign for the project accompanied by a humorous video from the trio.  For now, hit the jump to check out the latest Miller/Fincher creation by way of the launch trailer for Halo 4.  The game hits stores on November 6th, at which point it will make an insane amount of money.

With the Electronics Entertainment Expo (E3 2012) set to kick off on June 5th at the Los Angeles Convention Center, we thought we’d bring you a preview of some of the major video games that are going to be on display.  This year will feature a new installment in the Halo franchise, a return to form for the groundbreaking Tomb Raider series and a few new LEGO games that will please fans of DC heroes and Lord of the Rings alike.  There’s also talk of a new game from LucasArts, titled Star Wars 1313 but unfortunately there’s no video to share as of yet.
As someone who grew up with blocky monochrome pixels bouncing around the screen, I’m continually impressed by the level of realism and beauty that comes out of these games.  Hit the jump to check out a variety of jaw-dropping trailers and previews.

Comic-Con 2011: HALO 10th Anniversary Edition Shows Off Improved Graphics, Familiar Game Play

by     Posted 3 years, 151 days ago

The creators of the upcoming Halo: Anniversary Edition and Halo 4 came to Comic-Con to discuss their ongoing space opera and show off some new footage. I’m not a gamer, (a GBA is the most advanced system I have), so I can’t really explain what a Didact or a Precursor or Guilty Spark are, but the panelists, who included Frank O’Connor, Kevin Graceas, Greg Bear and Karen Traviss all promised that fans will see plenty of all of these elements in upcoming Halo games and novels.

They also presented something really cool for the Halo re-release that wowed me even as a non-fan. Read on for the details.
