Even though it will probably never happen, but Guillermo Del Toro and Ron Perlman would still like to make Hellboy 3 a reality.  Previously, Del Toro had seemed resigned to the fact that because the first two movies had failed to light up the box office, a studio probably wouldn’t be interested in paying for a third one.  However, when asked at Comic-Con about bringing Big Red back to the big-screen, Del Toro responded, “I can say publicly that now [Perlman and I] are together in trying [to do Hellboy 3].”

After years in pre-production, including a well respected but unproduced John Milius draft, Conan The Barbarian returns to theaters this Friday with Marcus Nispel directing Game of Thrones’ Jason Momoa, as the titular warrior. Rose McGowan, Ron Perlman, Rachel Nichols and Stephen Lang round out the cast of this 3D bloodbath.

Hemming closer to the fantastical Robert E. Howard books, this new Conan is stripped down and vicious. Recently, I sat down with Ron Perlman and up and coming tough guy/Disney kid Leo Howard to discuss their roles in the film. During the interview, we talked about playing an action hero, Howard’s impressive stunt work, the film’s complex scripting process and Perlman even teases us with plot threads for Hellboy 3.  Hit the jump to watch.

We had the opportunity to speak with actor Doug Jones at the 37^th annual Saturn Awards. A mainstay in director Guillermo del Toro’s films, Jones is best known for his work playing non-human characters, usually in heavy makeup. He took on, with great success, the character of Abe Sapien in the Hellboy films and was poisitively terrifying as the Pale Man in Pan’s Labyrinth. During the interview, he spoke a bit about a third Hellboy film, his relationship with del Toro, and more.

If you’re a fan of Guillermo del Toro, today is Christmas.  That’s because at tonight’s Saturn Awards, del Toro surprised everyone by attending the ceremony and answering a ton of questions backstage in the press room.  While most of us would have been happy to speak to him for 5 minutes, he continued talking to us for over 20 minutes!!  We literally got so much info out of him that we stopped asking questions.  I know it’s hard to believe, but after watching the interview, you’ll see we covered everything you could think to ask him.

During the 20 or so minutes we talked about The Hobbit, Hellboy 3, Frankenstein, Saturn and the End of Days, Death The High Cost of Living, Comic-Con, At the Mountains of Madness, his “Man Cave (his second house where he keeps all his collectibles) and so much more.  Trust me, if you’re a fan of GDT, this is a must watch interview.  And to make it easy, I’ve time indexed everything we talked about and listed some of the highlights after the jump.

Oh, and one thing he told me off camera…Criterion is going to release a Blu-ray of Cronos in December and it’s going to include a 15 minute documentary on his Man Cave!

When Guillermo del Toro dropped out of directing The Hobbit, many people were understandable disappointed.  After all, getting GDT behind the camera for The Hobbit seemed like a match made in heaven, and it seemed like everyone in cyberspace was in universal agreement.  Which is rare.

Since he dropped out, many have been guessing what he might do next.  We reported a rumor he might do Van Helsing at Universal.  With the online chatter, del Toro even responded to the rumors, saying he’s only in talks for the project.  So the big question is…what is he going to direct next?  According to del Toro, we aren’t going to have to wait much longer to find out as he just announced he will tell everyone at Comic-Con next month!  Hit the jump for more.

Guillermo del Toro has announced he is leaving The Hobbit due to the uncertain situation with MGM.  As most of you are aware, MGM is up for sale, and until the sale is resolved, no start date can be set for The Hobbit.  This situation has pushed the original start date back from this summer to who knows when.  Also, even though Peter Jackson, Philippa Boyens, Fran Walsh and Guillermo del Toro have turned in screenplays and have tons of details worked out for the production, they are stuck playing a waiting game until the sale goes through.

As a huge fan of Guillermo del Toro, I could not be more disappointed to hear this news.  But there is a silver lining, as del Toro has a ton of other projects in development and his release from The Hobbit means he’ll be able to move quickly onto something else.
