Henry Winkler is a man of many talents. Most widely known for his acting resume (Happy Days, The Waterboy), Winkler has also doubled as director, producer, children’s novelist, amateur photographer and even – fly fisherman. In this weekend’s Here Comes The Boom, he adds another notch to his tally: composer. Winkler costars in the picture as Marty Streb, the idealistic music teacher of a flailing high school. When the school is forced to cut its budget, Marty’s job is put into jeopardy and his continued employment rests on the slovenly shoulders of a disgruntled co-teacher (Kevin James). Winkler injects Marty with a real wide-eyed sense of innocence and warm-hearted genteelness. In the actor’s hands, Marty’s bizarre behavior not only feels real, but more so – earned. Even more impressive than the performance: Winkler conducted the film’s own musical set pieces himself.

In the following interview with Henry Winkler, he discusses his newfound job as conductor, his penchant for amateur photography and his role on the new season of Arrested Development. For the full interview, hit the jump.

It looks like the Bluth family is still going to need a lawyer, as Henry Winkler is set to return to Arrested Development in the revived series which will appear on Netflix.  The movie rental company went a long way to restore good will with the public when they picked up the cult favorite for what will be the fourth season with at least ten new episodes.  Perhaps they had some legal counsel from Barry Zuckerkorn (Winkler) on how best to handle their previous faux pas.  No word yet on if Bob Loblaw (Scott Baio) will lob any law bombs.  Hit the jump for a quote from Winkler on rejoining Arrested Development.

The first trailer for Kevin James’ (Paul Blart: Mall Cop) new picture, Here Comes the Boom has gone online.  James stars as a high school science teacher who gets mixed up in the violent world of mixed martial arts in order to earn money to save school projects from budget cuts.  While James has become known for being part of Adam Sandler’s cadre (You Don’t Mess with the Zohan, I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry, Grown Ups, Hotel Transylvania and Grown Ups 2), he hasn’t exactly stood out for the right reasons in his non-Sandler works (Paul Blart: Mall Cop, The Dilemma and Zookeeper).  Will Here Comes the Boom prove any different?

Zookeeper director Frank Coraci’s Here Comes the Boom, starring James, Salma Hayek, Henry Winkler, Melissa Peterman, Greg Germann, Joe Rogan, Reggie Lee and Bas Rutten, opens October 12th.  Hit the jump for the trailer and synopsis.

Two important facts to remember about Childrens Hospital: 1. It’s the funniest show about doctors currently on air (2nd was the now defunct Off the Map) 2. Practically nobody has ever heard of it. The latter is rather hard to understand given the show features a who’s who lineup of comic personalities: Rob Corddry (The Daily Show), Rob Huebel (Human Giant), Henry Winkler (Happy Days), Megan Mullally (Will and Grace), Ken Marino (Party Down), David Wain (The State) and the voice of Michael Cera (Arrested Development) to name just a few.

At UCLA Tuesday Night, select cast and crew (Huebel, Corddry, Mullaly, Marino, Wain, Nick Kroll (The League), Malin Akerman (The Comeback), Erin Hayes (Kitchen Confidential) and writer/producer Jon Stern screened the opening third season episode and then held a Q&A, wherein they discussed “special” guest stars for the upcoming season, the deference to non-continuity on the show, casting, endometrial cancer and their favorite porn stars, among many other topics of conversation. As the outrageous twists of medical soaps like Grey’s Anatomy and House are ripe for parody, Rob Corddry (Hot Tub Time Machine) took it upon himself to create Childrens Hospital for TheWB.com, a web series which sends up the silly doctor dramas with an all-star cast.  Adult Swim took notice, and in a rare live-action effort, ordered an adaptation of the web series for their late night programming.  In addition to Corddry, the regular cast includes Malin Akerman, Lake Bell, Erinn Hayes, Rob Huebel, Ken Marino, Megan Mullally and Henry Winkler.  On top of that, such notables as  Ed Begley Jr., Lizzy Caplan, John Cho, Paul Scheer, and David Wain are all slated for guest spots.

Childrens Hospital premieres July 11 at 10:30 on Adult Swim.  Check out the press release, and the first episode of the web series, after the jump.
