For those of you who enjoyed this past season of Bored to Death, I hope it was good enough to hold you over until the end of time because THR reports HBO has opted not to renew the series for fourth season. The network has also decided to cut off Hung and How to Make it in America as new series like Luck, Girls, Angry Boys, Life’s Too Short and Veep all make their way to the network next year. However, amidst all of the cable network’s axing, there is a lone survivor. HBO’s freshman series Enlightened starring Laura Dern has been renewed for a second season. While Dern gives a solid performance, it’s not a show I looked forward to watching every week and I can’t say I’m too thrilled with HBO’s decision to renew it. Surely the Golden Globe nomination for Dern’s performance and the series itself helped the half-hour show survive though. Anyway, the future slate for HBO is enough to let me forgive their reckless executions of the aforementioned series for now.

In just over a month, the third season of Hung will premiere on October 2nd, and now we finally have our first look at what’s in store for Ray (Thomas Jane) and Tanya (Jane Adams). It’s clear that there’s going to be quite a battle for male escort supremacy as this teaser trailer introduces us to Jason (Stephen Arnell), Lenore’s (Rebecca Creskoff) newest meat on the market. This should make for some interesting developments on HBO’s risque series, but I’ll let you decide for yourself after checking out the new teaser after the jump.

The dark comedy series Hung looks to keep on giving pleasure in all the right places. Deadline reports HBO has just picked up the show for a third season run of 10 episodes to air in 2011. If you’re unfamiliar with the well-endowed series, it follows a down-on-his-luck Detroit high-school coach (Thomas Jane) moonlighting as a male prostitute and his rookie, poetry-loving pimp (Jane Adams). Ironically enough, the adulterous show was put together by husband and wife team Dmitry Lipkin and Colette Burson. If you’re looking to catch up on the series or give it a shot, the second season finale airs September 12th, so you should have plenty of time after that to get started.
