New DAREDEVIL Netflix Show Images Reveal a Lawyer By Day, Superhero By Night

by     Posted Yesterday

A couple of new Daredevil Netflix show images have landed online, giving fans a new look at the upcoming limited series from Marvel and the streaming service.  Spartacus alum Steven S. DeKnight acts as showrunner on the upcoming series, though Marvel TV chief Jeph Loeb (who also oversees Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and the upcoming Agent Carter) is still intimately involved in crafting Marvel’s first foray into Netflix territory.  In a new piece in EW, Loeb describes Daredevil as “a crime drama first, superhero show second”, and while DeKnight maintains that the series is certainly “grittier and edgier” than what Marvel has done before, the target audience remains all-encompassing so they’re “not looking to push it to extreme violence or gratuitous nudity.”

Check out the new Daredevil Netflix show images after the jump.  The series stars Charlie Cox, Vincent D’Onofrio, Deborah Ann Woll, Elden Henson, Toby Moore, Bob Gunton, Ayelet Zurer, and Vondie Curtis-HallDaredevil will premiere on Netflix sometime in 2015.

Bradley Cooper Just Wants to Get the Bad Guys in New AMERICAN SNIPER Clip; Plus 19 New Images

by     Posted 4 days ago

Warner Bros. has released a new American Sniper clip and a batch of new images from director Clint Eastwood’s upcoming drama.  Bradley Cooper plays U.S. Navy SEAL Chris Kyle, who served four tours of duty in Iraq and quickly became the most lethal sniper in U.S. military history.  His reputation extended across enemy lines, making him a prime target for the insurgency, and when he returned home to his wife and kids he struggled to leave the war behind.  I’ve seen the film and I really wasn’t crazy about it.  There’s a fascinating story to be told here, especially with regards to how Kyle’s life came to an abrupt end, but that’s not the one Eastwood is interested in telling; it’s a frustratingly one-dimensional portrayal of the war and its effects on those who fought in it.  Nevertheless, Cooper gives a strong performance as Kyle, which you can see here in this brief clip in which Kyle is arguing to be on the ground with the other soldiers instead of perched safely in his sniper’s nest.

Check out the new American Sniper clip after the jump, along with a batch of new images.  The film also stars Sienna Miller, Jake McDormanLuke GrimesSam Jaeger, Navid Negahban, Sammy Sheik, Mido Hamada, and Keir O’Donnell.  American Sniper opens in limited release on December 25th.

Most tentpole filmmakers know that once plans start being sent to toy companies for various film tie-ins, your movie is about to be spoiled.  It’s unavoidable, really.  The toy companies need plenty of lead time to develop and produce a large amount of product, and specs start coming out in the months leading up to a film’s release.  J.J. Abrams famously fought to have the USS Vengeance toy from Star Trek Into Darkness held off until the last minute, and he and Lucasfilm/Disney are working together on Star Wars: The Force Awakens to ensure that the sure-to-be-insanely-profitable toys don’t spoil the movie.  Which leads us to today’s bit of business, the Avengers: Age of Ultron LEGO sets.  Check out what they may or may not reveal about the film after the jump.

First Concept Art and Logo Revealed for Disney’s Live-Action JUNGLE BOOK Reboot

by     Posted 8 days ago

Yesterday we learned that Warner Bros.’ Jungle Book film, Andy Serkis’ motion-capture Jungle Book: Origins, was being pushed all the way to 2017.  Possibly capitalizing on that announcement, Disney has opted to reveal the first concept art and logo for its own Jungle Book adaptation, director Jon Favreau’s The Jungle Book.  The film will be a blend of live-action and CG animation, with Neel Sethi filling the live-action role of Mowgli while Bill Murray voices Baloo, Idris Elba lends his pipes to Shere Khan, and Scarlett Johansson brings Kaa to life.  While Disney touts this as a live-action film, I’ll be interested to see just how many live-action environments are used, since almost all of the animals appear to be CG.  Regardless, the film puts Favreau (you know, the guy who made Elf) back in family film territory, so I’m eager to see the results.

Check out the first Jungle Book reboot concept art and logo after the jump.  The film also stars Lupita Nyong’o, Ben Kingsley, Christopher Walken, and Giancarlo EspositoThe Jungle Book opens in theaters on October 9, 2015.

New THE DIVERGENT SERIES: INSURGENT Trailer, Poster, and Images Find Shailene Woodley on the Run

by     Posted 8 days ago

Summit Entertainment has released a new theatrical trailer for The Divergent Series: Insurgent, the second in what will be a four-film adaptation of author Veronica Roth’s dystopian sci-fi series.  The Divergent sequel finds the principal characters on the run in the fringes of society and searching for answers after breaking open the world as they knew it.  To be honest, I have no earthly idea what the hell is going in in this Insurgent trailer, but this new installment does have come compelling visuals and interesting concepts at play.  Though this is the most stiff I have ever seen the normally vibrant Winslet.

Watch the new Insurgent trailer, check out a new poster, and new images for the film after the jump.  The film stars Shailene Woodley, Theo JamesAnsel Elgort, Kate Winslet, Naomi Watts, Octavia Spencer, Jai Courtney, Miles Teller, Daniel Dae Kim, Maggie Q, Ray Stevenson, and Zoe Kravitz.  The Divergent Series: Insurgent opens on March 20, 2015.

Stephen Colbert Transforms Into Bilbo, Gandalf, and Legolas in New THE HOBBIT EW Covers

by     Posted 10 days ago

It’s no secret that Stephen Colbert is a massive J.R.R. Tolkein fan.  Director Peter Jackson even brought him down to the New Zealand set of The Hobbit and gave Colbert and his family a pretty prominent cameo in The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug.  Colbert is no poser, though.  I witnessed his passion and immense knowledge of Tolkein first hand at Comic-Con this summer when he spouted off obscure passages from memory, and so it’s fitting that Colbert has been enlisted to help bring Jackson’s saga to a close with a new series of Entertainment Weekly covers promoting the final film.  The future Late Show host dons the wardrobe and makeup of some of the series’ most popular characters to surprisingly great results in these new covers; the guy makes a pretty damn convincing Bilbo.

Check out the Stephen Colbert Hobbit EW covers after the jump.  The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies opens in HFR 3D, IMAX 3D, 3D, and 2D on December 17th.

Lily James Does Errands and Goes to a Ball in 6 New CINDERELLA Images

by     Posted 11 days ago

Disney released a bunch of new images when the Cinderella trailer dropped a couple of weeks ago and now the studio is putting six more in the mix.  Kenneth Branagh’s live-action rendition of the classic tale features Lily James in the title role and it’s a performance that’s well worth keeping an eye on.  I’ve yet to give Downton Abbey a go so I’ve missed out on James’ work on that show, but next year there will be loads of opportunities to see what she’s capable of.  In addition to Cinderella, she also leads the adaptation of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies as Elizabeth Bennet and there was a report claiming that she was circling Lone Scherfig’s new movie, Their Finest Hour and a Half, as well.  Should Cinderella hit it big, odds are, many more projects will be added to that list.

Hit the jump to see James in those new Cinderella images.  The film arrives in theaters on March 13, 2015 and also stars Cate Blanchett, Helena Bonham Carter, Hayley Atwell, Richard Madden, Stellan Skarsgard, Holiday Grainger, Nonso Anozie and Sophie McShera.

First COMMUNITY Season 6 Images Reveal New Cast Members

by     Posted 15 days ago

Community is officially alive and kicking, and we’ve got the photographic evidence to prove it.  The seemingly immortal sitcom was canceled by NBC earlier this year, only to receive a last-minute reprieve from the folks at Yahoo! Screen.  The digital streaming service will air the upcoming sixth season of the show, bringing the series’ self-proclaimed prophecy of “Six Seasons and a Movie” that much closer to fruition.  These debut Community Season 6 images are largely business as usual despite the drastic change of telecasting venue, and they also give us a first look at new cast member Keith David, who’s filling the study group void left first by Chevy Chase and then Jonathan Banks, who was a regular in the fifth season but was unavailable to return due to his Better Call Saul duties.  David plays a retired scientist while the other new regular, Criminal Minds alum Paget Brewster, plays a consultant brought in to help shape up Greendale.

Check out the first Community Season 6 images after the jump.  Production on the 13-episode new season is underway for a debut on Yahoo! Screen in early 2015.

Exclusive TOP FIVE Images Featuring Chris Rock, Kevin Hart, and Cedric the Entertainer

by     Posted 15 days ago

I’m still waiting on my chance to see Paramount’s new Chris Rock comedy Top Five, which not only stars the comedian, but was written and directed by him as well.  The first trailer (along with the red band trailer) piqued my interest, and the fact that I don’t believe I know a single person who doesn’t like the film elevates it even further.  So while I wait to see the movie, I’ll take these exclusive images as something of a consolation prize in the meantime.
