Bobby Moresco, an Oscar winner for co-writing Crash, has signed on to direct the independent crime thriller The Harbor.  According to Variety, Moresco adapted the screenplay from JP O’Donnell‘s novel Deadly Codes, “a redemptive tale of a shamed and discredited former Boston narcotics cop turned private investigator who takes on an intriguing murder case.”  The plot thickens when the PI discovers the murder is part of a government conspiracy.

Moresco also penned a modern-day adaptation of Intimidation, the 1960 Japanese noir about “the intertwined fates of a desperate bank manager, blackmailed for book-cooking, and his resentful but timid underling, passed over for a promotion.”  Moresco is in talks to direct Intimidation, but production on The Harbor is set to begin this fall, which keeps it first on Moresco’s schedule.  Hit the jump for synopses for Deadly Codes and Intimidation.
