Watch Daniel Kleinman’s Opening Titles of SKYFALL without the Titles

Much like just about everything else in Skyfall, the opening titles are great.  Designer Daniel Kleinman did a terrific job in setting the tone and throwing in plenty of references to the movie without spoiling anything.  Watching the opening titles, it almost felt like a hallucination/premonition/purgatory for Bond, which was just another way of how the movie pushed the boundaries of its self-awareness.  The titles have always been the titles, but in Skyfall they could almost be part of the narrative.

SKYFALL Review

The James Bond film franchise has stood for 50 years.  It has lived, died, returned, died some more, returned again, and as the longest-running blockbuster franchise in history, it constantly walks the line between life and death regarding the series’ potency.  There likely will always be another James Bond film, but the character’s relevancy is always in question.  Can the modern audience accept Bond in a world where a grittier spy like Jason Bourne seemingly has more power to engage audiences?  Isn’t James Bond a relic that can’t convincingly survive in a post-9/11 world?  The latest Bond film, Skyfall, explores these question is a fascinating, compelling manner and does so within one of the series’ most exhilarating, perfectly crafted, and absolutely captivating entries to date.

I can’t even begin to tell you what kind of fun you’re in for with Skyfall.  That’s partially because I’m not going to post my full review until the day before the film opens, but also because it’s one of the year’s best action movies, and also one of the best James Bond films ever made.  It’s a Bond film that not only has all the great stuff we’ve come to expect from the series, but also has a nice layer of depth that’s rare for the franchise.

I’m so excited to announce that that we will be giving away 10 pairs of passes to the Atlanta screening of Skyfall.  Hit the jump to find out how you can check out the film early, for free, and see Bond at his best.  Skyfall opens November 9th.

A new trailer has been release for Skyfall.  There’s only a little new footage, but it does feature Bond’s iconic introduction, so that’s always worth a watch.  The movie has been garnering ecstatic buzz, and I can’t wait to finally get a look at what director Sam Mendes has brought to the franchise (other than the influence of The Dark Knight).

Hit the jump to check out the trailer.  The film stars Daniel Craig, Judi Dench, Javier Bardem, Helen McCrory, Ralph Fiennes, Ben Whishaw, Berenice Marlohe, and Naomie HarrisSkyfall opens November 9th.

A new video blog for Skyfall has been released, and it’s the best one yet.  This video blog looks at how an underwater fight sequence is filmed from the choreography to the lighting to the safety and all the other logistics involved.  I had seen underwater fight scenes before, but I never asked how they were done.  I’m deeply impressed by what went into this fight scene, and hopefully it will look amazing in the finished film.

Hit the jump to check out the video blog.  The film stars Daniel Craig, Bérénice Marlohe, Judi Dench, Naomie Harris, Ben Whishaw, Helen McCroy, Albert Finney, Ralph Fiennes, and Javier BardemSkyfall opens November 9th.

Sony Pictures has released fifteen new images from the upcoming James Bond film, Skyfall.  As you’ll see from the images, new MI6 agent Eve (Naomie Harris) just won’t be about in the rough-and-tumble field.  She’ll also get to dress up nice and pretty to kick some ass.  Also, looking at these images and at the trailer, I love the way cinematographer Roger Deakins has shot this film.  Then again, I love the way Roger Deakins shoots anything.

Hit the jump to check out the new images.  The film also stars Daniel Craig, Bérénice Marlohe, Judi Dench, Ben Whishaw, Helen McCroy, Albert Finney, Ralph Fiennes, and Javier BardemSkyfall opens November 9th.

SKYFALL Opens Early in IMAX; New TV Spot and Banner Featuring Ben Whishaw as Q

by     Posted 2 years, 53 days ago

As we reported back in February, the new James Bond film Skyfall will be the first movie in the franchise to be released in IMAX.  Today, the official 007 Twitter feed has announced that the U.S. IMAX release will be on November 8th, one day earlier than the general release for the upcoming action flick.  Granted, it’s not like the big jump Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol had on its IMAX release, but it will still draw out the Bond diehards to shell out a little more money to see the flick a day early.  Of course if American fans really love Bond, they could always hop the Atlantic to see the movie open in the U.K. on October 26th.

Hit the jump to check out a new TV spot film along with a banner featuring Ben Whishaw as Q.  Skyfall also stars Daniel Craig, Bérénice Marlohe, Judi Dench, Naomie Harris, Helen McCroy, Albert Finney, Ralph Fiennes, and Javier Bardem.

New UK Poster for SKYFALL

A new U.K. poster for Skyfall has gone online.  It’s nothing particularly memorable, but it meets the bare requirements for a James Bond poster: James Bond (Daniel Craig) in a suit and holding a gun.  I would have preferred to see something a little more stylish, but Bond basically sells itself, especially after a four-year absence.

Hit the jump to check out the poster.  The film also stars Javier Bardem, Judi Dench, Berenice Marlohe, Naomie Harris, Ben Whishaw, and Ralph FiennesSkyfall opens in the U.K. on October 26th, and opens in the U.S. on November 9th.

Adele Confirmed to Perform SKYFALL Theme Song; New Posters and Banners Released

It has been rumored for months that Grammy-winning artist Adele would perform the theme song for the upcoming James Bond film, Skyfall.  Today, Showbiz411 confirms she has the gig, and the song will probably be called “Skyfall” (as opposed to “Another Way to Die” being the song from Quantum of Solace).  Adele will likely write the song as well.  It will be the English singer-songwriter’s first single since her last album, 21.  I’m curious to see where her song will rank among Bond themes.  Probably higher than “Die Another Day”.

In other Skyfall news, new posters and banners have been released for the film, and you can check them out after the jump.  Skyfall opens October 26th in the UK, November 9th in the US, and stars Daniel Craig, Javier Bardem, Judi Dench, Berenice Marlohe, Naomie Harris, Ben Whishaw, and Ralph Fiennes.

Posters for RUNNER RUNNER, EPIC, THE SECRET LIFE OF WALTER MITTY, and SKYFALL

New promo posters have appeared for the gambling drama Runner Runner, the animated film Epic, and Ben Stiller‘s remake of The Secret Life of Walter Mitty.  Since they’re promo posters, they’re nothing more than an announcement, which is why the designer didn’t do more than simply write down the title and put it over a bland background.  There’s also a new international poster for Skyfall, which is like the recent posters except Bond is actually doing something.

Hit the jump to check out the posters.  Runner Runner opens September 27, 2013.  Epic opens May 24, 2013.  The Secret Life of Walter Mitty opens December 25, 2013.  Skyfall opens November 9th.

New SKYFALL Video Blog Takes James Bond to the Streets of London

The James Bond franchise is known for its exotic locales, but his new movie, Skyfall, will take him home to London.  In the latest video blog, director Sam Mendes and stars Daniel Craig and Judi Dench explain the appeal of shooting in London along with its challenges.  I would disagree with Mendes that London isn’t a photogenic city, but I guess he knows better than I.  Having visited London many years ago, I was taken in by the city’s age.  Nothing in America that isn’t Native American is more than four-hundred years old.  Europe looks at our age and laughs.  But I like that Mendes is challenging himself to find a new way to shoot London and give it a personality to fall in line with what he has in store for Bond’s new adventure.

New Banner and 4 Character Posters for SKYFALL

by     Posted 2 years, 102 days ago

Sony has released a new banner for the upcoming James Bond film, Skyfall.  I thought the teaser poster was a bit bland (it could have been used for any James Bond film), but it’s a masterpiece compared to four characters standing in front of a logo.  The banner almost looks like it’s trying to advertise clothes than a movie.  It’s also odd that they’ve pushed poor Daniel Craig all the way to the side.  Yes, from left to right the position makes some sense, but if you look at it as a whole, the villain (Javier Bardem) is the one who grabs your attention.

Hit the jump to check out the full banner.  The film also stars Berenice Marlohe, Judi Dench, Naomie Harris, Ben Whishaw, Helen McCroy, Albert Finney, and Ralph FiennesSkyfall opens November 9th. The latest issue of Entertainment Weekly has some new images from the upcoming James Bond flick, Skyfall.  The new images throw some of the spotlight on the new Bond girl (Berenice Marlohe) and the villain, Silva (Javier Bardem).  There’s nothing particularly revealing about the images, but after watching the excellent new trailers, I’m down for any fresh glimpses of the movie until the ads start revealing the whole damn thing a month before the release date.
