Corey Feldman and Jamison Newlander Interview LOST BOYS: THE THIRST

by     Posted 4 years, 71 days ago

In the latest sequel for the franchise, Lost Boys: The Thirst brings the vampire-slaying Frog brothers back to the forefront, nearly 25 years after they were introduced to audiences in the first film, The Lost Boys, which went on to become a cult classic and pop culture phenomenon. Now, Edgar (Corey Feldman) and Alan Frog (Jamison Newlander) have joined forces to kick some alpha vampire butt and save a young boy from a gang of night crawlers in San Cazador, a sleepy Northern California town. These bloodsuckers are growing a vampire army by handing out The Thirst, a drug made out of vampire blood, at raves all across the country. To stop it, the Frog brothers will have to enter a battle that will test their strength and finally put an end to the undead.

At an interview to promote the October 12th DVD/Blu-ray release of the film, co-stars Corey Feldman and Jamison Newlander talked about the impact of the first film on their lives, being reunited on screen, the live events that they’ll be doing for this release, and the possibility of future films and even a television series. Check out what they had to say after the jump.

We can finally forget about The Tribe. Lost Boys: The Thirst is what a follow up to The Lost Boys should be. That’s not saying it’s anywhere near the level of the 1987 Joel Schumacher classic. Far from it. But when news broke that sequels to The Lost Boys were going straight to DVD, a drop in quality was a forgone conclusion. Our only hope was that the films tied into the original, paid respectful homage to it and included a bunch of dumb fun. Lost Boys: The Tribe didn’t. The Thirst, on the other hand, does and there by cleanses the palate of its awful predecessor. It’s not a “good movie” but it’s fun and Lost Boys fans can breath a sigh of relief that this third film attempts, and mostly succeeds, to do right by them. Hit the jump to read our exclusive review before it hits Blu-ray October 12.

The only thing that could be worse than Lost Boys 2, aka Lost Boys: The Tribe would be a sequel to it. Well, avert your eyes, a trailer for Lost Boys: The Thirst has just hit the internet.

This second direct to DVD sequel using the title and characters from the classic 1987 film will be out this fall and featuring Corey Feldman and Jamison Newlander reprising their roles as Edgar and Alan Frog, the Frog Brothers. In The Thirst, the brothers are the only two people who can stop a new vampire cult from spreading a drug that will turn the rest of us into blood suckers.

Check out the trailer after the jump and try not to cry when they use the song “Cry Little Sister.”

Director Dario Piana Drinks Down LOST BOYS 3 – THE THIRST

Bloody-Disgusting is reporting that Warner Premiere has hired “The Deaths of Ian Stone” director Dario Piana to helm “Lost Boys 3: The Thirst”, written by Evan Charnov.  Corey Feldman and Jamison Newlander are expected to return as the Frog Brothers but BD is only able to confirm Feldman’s involvement.  I could also confirm Feldman’s involvement I simply because I can’t imagine Feldman saying “No,” to another “Lost Boys” sequel.

The plot would follow a destitute and friendless Edgar Frog (Feldman) until wealthy vampire-romance writer Gwen Liebling offers him a shitload of cash to hunt down Alpha Vampire D.J. Dusk in order to rescue her son Peter.  I hope Edgar doesn’t kill D.J. Dusk because that guy knows how to scratch some records (is that the right slang?  “Scratch some records?”).  Shooting is set to begin this November in South Africa.  I am totally indifferent to the “Lost Boys” franchise but I guess there are some die-hards out there who can’t detach from their ironic-detachment
